    Which Yamaha FG9 would you go for? Rosewood or Mahogany?

      Rosewood for me! But not at this price point... So many other Brands have Amazing Guitars for this price point... Europe ... Dowina, Furch, Auden, Japan... Yairi, and others like Epiphone Masterbilt, USA - Martin, Taylor Gibson, all will compete with great guitars for the price

      Rosewood, however, I own a FG5, at this price point, I can get a Gibson Hummingbird, or for a little more, my dream guitar the Gibson Dove. However playing one may change my mind, but sometimes your heart over powers the mind. This FG9 satisfies the mind. The Dove and Hummingbird satisfies the heart

    The FG(X)5 and FS(X)5 are made by the same small team entirely in Japan at the same custom shop. This is a step up with AdI top and comes in Rosewood, whereas the 5s are mahogany. Gloss finish v open pore in the 5. The 5s are constantly on back order and are stellar instruments.

    These new FG9 models are unique in every sense. I still love my FG830 and yet not in this league. The FG9 is a premium boutique guitar.

    Do the stores have examples to try before pre-ordering?

    • @guitarguitaruk

      The models we used for this video were pre-release examples - and the only two in the continent at the time! Right now, these guitars are still only available for pre-order as there is no stock available, but when we do have the guitars available in-store you'd be more than welcome to try one out. Hope this helps 🙂

    • @guitarguitaruk
      @guitarguitaruk  Год назад

      Fair point Mathew! The big difference with the FG9 is that all of the guitar is designed, hand crafted & finished in Japan where as other Yamaha models made in Japan may use parts made elsewhere that are later assembled in Japan. Fully manufacturing every part in Japan is the main difference here.

    • @YouTubesSucksDick
      @YouTubesSucksDick Год назад +1

      @@guitarguitaruk Is this documented somewhere? Because I looked everywhere for this information before buying mine. Not only did I not find it but I found a couple exerts where somebody says they are 100% made in Japan. I've also heard that there's only one master builder and that the rest are students, so maybe the students are making the cheaper ones?

    I predict slow sales. Too many boutique builders in that price range.

    • @Chrispackettt
      @Chrispackettt Год назад +1

      Yea an amazing guitar but the low resale value will push buyers to other brands.

      @@Chrispackettt I own a '94 HD-28 and just got an FG 9 M two days ago. I love my Martin, its been my main guitar as long as I've had it. But the FG 9 is really quite special; much louder and more articulate than the HD-28. The build quality is fabulous. (Yes, better than my Martin) I think if you compare all the specs and features of the FG 9 with other builders, the Yamaha is worth the price in today's high end market. I wrestled with the decision to buy it rather than a D-18. The D-18 is a fine guitar and is less expensive than the Yamaha. But after playing the FG 9 for a couple of days, I believe I made the right choice. As far as resale value goes, time will tell, but I have no intention of ever selling it. It will be passed on to a lucky member of my family.

    • @FigCuttings
      @FigCuttings 11 месяцев назад +2

      @@tedwasielewski9641 The resale value of the high end Yamaha LL56 is incredibly high. They sell for $4,000 new, and I don't think I've ever seen a used one for less than $3,600. They're so rare, and so incredibly high quality, that demand always dominates supply. It is reasonable to think that the FG9's will hold their resale value to that same degree. In other words, it will likely hold its value much better than a typical Martin D-18/D-28/etc. Isn't it interesting when reality contradicts myth?

    • @foobarmaximus3506
      @foobarmaximus3506 Год назад +1

      It's a better guitar than you can afford, or deserve. Or need. Get yourself a 200 dollar pawn-shop guitar and forget about good instruments. Not everyone should have a high-end guitar.

    • @TheMemagNeman

      @@foobarmaximus3506 I have no doubt it's great.
      How do you know I don't have high-end guitars or what I can afford?
      I'll buy what I want to buy, the price of this one is steep. I'd rather spend on Masterbuild Epiphone and extra gear than to this one.
      It's my opinion, no need to go "elite guitarist" snobbery over it.
      Expensive guitar will not make you a better musician. FYI
