I wasn't even aware this was a thing back then and I played and owned most of the GBA games. It wasn't until I had consistent internet and a working computer around 2007 when I saw that pokemon worlds was even a thing let alone worlds for YGO. I sometimes wonder how much bigger things like this would have been if info on these tournaments was more widely available at the time.
Bro, I cannot begin to tell you how enamored I am with this video. Sadly, a lot of archival stuff of Yugioh's competitive early history is lost behind old forums and JP posts. Chads like you putting it into videos like these make me week. Keep up the awesome work man.
If there was going ever going to be a video on this topic, I'm glad you made it. I've watched your videos especially on Championship 2006. Your channel is one of the hidden gems that still exists on this platform.
Just wanna say I knew Pere personally. He was a tryhard in the good sense of the word and usually won most locals, and will often go to the YGO major events every year with some others.
As always, excellent content Busta! :D Had no idea there was a fork of Trials to Glory for tournament use! Learning something new everyday with your docu-series.
Hey I love to see the part 2 of this series the ds games are my favorite and yes I have the gba games but I don't have every yugioh gba games as I do with the ds except for ds world championship 2009
I did! I still have it too. During World's I brought my own cable because I was worried that they wouldn't have one with the Game Boy Micro connector, and it turned out that that was 100% the case.
It's interesting to watch this, i was aware of esports yugioh back in the ds days cause a lot of the ghosts based on real duelists had real meta decks (and a few hacked 5 card deck exodia ones). Was a fun time that master duel doesn't really capture
Great video! I always loved all GBA Yugioh games, good to know there was actual tournaments around them. A bit off topic, but i wanted to ask just in case, would you have by any chance the Instruction Manual of Duel Academy? I tried to search a Digitied version of it or a PDF but i had no luck finding one.
Hello there I just finished your video on romhacking and was wondering how hard would it be to romhack speed duela into yugioh ultimate masters (minus the ability cards if it’s to complex to add them)
Are you able to ROM Hack WTC 2004? It was my childhood game but it's so limited in it's options with the CPU's mostly using the same(banned and strong) cards
Hey scrubdude, I was imagining doing a challenge run in either 7 trials to glory or UM2006 where you can only use cards that you get from passwords (either slowly replacing your starter deck or adding to the card pool including your starter deck). Any good ideas jump to mind what you would prioritize or should I just look up whatever meta deck I can make in the game and use that
I know the guy who got second place losing to Francois Ferry in 2003. You said a user called "yu-gi-oh shadow kingdom" uploaded video from the GBA competition. I can't find it, could you direct me to it? I wanna see my buddy getting wrecked. And if you have any questions I can forward them along.
and no of the games is yet in nintendo onlien service saddly. t would be so cool if they put them on nintendo online and u can play them online against other players
Limited edition Firewing Pegasus? Now that's a prize worth dedicating countless hours into a GBA card game simulator!

Quote and agree.

Thanks for keeping the fire alive, my man! If it was not for this video I'll never have learned about these tournaments and how they were made.
Cant wait for Part 2 good sir. Im late asf but ay, I brought the Link Cables!
Amazing video, thank you for covering this era! These some of many fav ygo games.
Hearing eternal duelist soul music always brings back fond memories. This is really awesome I wish I knew about it back then.
I just found your channel like two days ago and I already binged all your videos 😂, hope you keep it up! Your content is great!
I love how that Chris guy travels across the world just to get ass handed to him by Kenji and his 30 dollar haircut and anime villain deck
Excellent video, incredibly sad you dont have more subs, your channel is fantastic
Wow interesting video didn't really know the gba games held such events back in the day
Amazing video! Really enjoyed it :)

Gba era of yugioh is my favorite and this video was very informative
I hope some people start playing it online

Loved the video
17:08 Looks like Brandon Qualified while playing on a gameboy micro, the mad lad.

So nostalgic. I would love to relive those years.
Having to go through a quiz as part of an event just seems horrid, can't imagine not being to play in an event because you didn't top a quiz.
Cannot imagine how long the research for this lasted. Also, Im playing Duel links right now!
Japan also had events for the Game Boy Duel Monsters games, like there was a big tournament before the OCG even existed.
Venus was a glitch I think you can't do that without Shine balls.
Imagine making it all the way to worlds and the only thing people remember about your deck is a mystic tomato set one pass. 💀

Another Scrub Basta banger
I had heard about these existing but no info!
9:08 SNAKE!
please cover the NDS tournaments

basta can you do a playthought for yu-gi-oh ultimate master

Hey, have you ever thought of modifying WCT2004? That game could use some improvements.
But were those events separate from official tournaments with actual cards?
Is there any rom hack for gba duel academy?
I was considering buying the 2006 champion game. that's just such a golden era. what DS game is good?
I admittedly haven't played all of them but WCT 2011 Over the Nexus is pretty goated
WC2008 is the last one before Synchros were introduced and changed the game forever.
Having to reset because of glitches in a competitive environment sounds so infuriating.
and no of the games is yet in nintendo onlien service saddly.
t would be so cool if they put them on nintendo online and u can play them online against other players
Cant believe my boy won thanks to a glitch.
I'm also pretty sure they tried to ban any glitched card effects on the tournament banlist but didn't know about Venus LMAO
I really don't like master duel. Praying that legacy of the duelist part 3 comes soon
"esport"
"Yugioh master duel"
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA...
Yeah no. Not happening.
REJECT MASTER DUEL, RETURN TO GBA MONKE
Banger video
