Love the format of the video, short and directly to the point, without an extra 15 minutes of "fluff" to pad the length of the video. One issue I had with your instructions was that around the 3:00 minute mark, you said to use "home assistant" as the sender. If you do this with recent versions of Home Assistant, you get the following error: Invalid config for 'smtp" from integration 'notify' at configuration.yaml, line xx: expected an email address for dictionary value 'sender', got 'homeassistant'. Putting a valid email address clears the configuration error, but you still need to configure the information for the SMTP server (or use something like Google).

Im glad you enjoyed the video! It's been a while since trying the automation so I wouldn't be surprised if things have changed or if there were mistakes. Thanks for calling it out!

Great content man! I Need some help with an idea for home assistant and messages. I want to create a to do list for my kids, and if when I select a few, HA will generate a list with that selection and send a message to the respective kid who that specific chore is assigned to

Glad you like it! Yeah this is sounds possible to do but I’m not sure what you mean when you refer to selecting the todo items? Home assistant knows when you add an item and complete an item but I don’t think it knows when it is selected? A middle ground could be that once you create a todo item you can either have the an automation deploy manual with a press of a button or automatically at a specific time or after a specific length of time and send the items to the respective persons.
