Full Restoration of Omega Seamaster 166.002 | Caliber 562

This Omega with reference number 166.002 came to us for complete restoration. It has very popular caliber 562. Movement was pretty dirty, and dial was glued on with so much glue that it was hard to pry it off. We had to spend much time cleaning the dial side of the movement. Previous watch maker installed screws wrongly due to which calendar wheel was damaged and we had to replace it.
We gave a slight polish to the case and replaced the crystal with new one as existing one was severely damaged due to heating the by previous watch maker.

As far as I know, the Seamaster takes a crystal with a tension ring. Gluing one in with epoxy is just wrong.

Thank you for your comment and yes, you are right. We had to use an after market crystal which was not supporting tension ring.
Tension ring is kept until a proper crystal is found for the watch.

Hi, thank you very much for kind words. Yellow solution is called mercury lotion in Pakistan and it is easily available here. It helps cleaning any dried up oils and dirt which might be on the movement parts.

I cringe whenever someone who has popped the hands off of their central hub lifts them up directly from the dial afterwards. This is almost guaranteed to cause scratches and defeats the rationale for covering the dial with a plastic sheet in the 1st place to protect it.
