I am the type of person that likes to see every single difference between different vehicle trim levels, and the fact the Joe takes the time to review every trim of every car that he reviews and definitely a blessing 💪🏽
The Highlander is one of Toyota's best creations 🙌🙌
Amen 😂👌🏻
I totally agree with you Diallo!
@@VictorLeEPICVIC951 I am so glad that you like them!
Way better than the Korean competitors
It’s so good that it has wi-fi even I have it! It has captain seats and three seats at the back wow wow so luxury
Wife went in for an oil change on a 19’ Rav and came home with this instead.. one side note about 3rd row. While tight, they do recline! Being able to put the back lower made a huge difference for me when testing it out. Wouldn’t wanna sit for a far drive like that. But it does the job for small adult , under 6ft.
That is a very good point! Thanks Gregory for your great input! Happy wife, Happy life!
I love when Toyota hits the nail on styling. The reliability and interior materials have always been what I loved most about Toyota, but I’m glad they are finally catching up on technology. Great review Raiti
I am so glad that you like this one and you are totally right! Thanks for watching!
Thank you for keeping us up to date Joe and crew! Stay safe in this difficult times! You guys are the BEST!!
I sure will William! You guys stay safe as well.
I bought my gorgeous 2020 Highlander XLE FWD in the Ruby flare pearl color in January. Currently have 1,800 happy miles on it. I really love it more & more every day! The comfort, the quality, upgraded interior with lots of storage, the versatile bench seats, & the solid V6 engine power is very satisfactory for me...and my cat Valentine! I keep the 3rd row folded down so who cares? Thanks for a great review Joe. 🌞
Love your vids. One of the best reviewers on YT. I think your vids will be much better if you include or do some b-roll for anything your talking about, I think it will up the already amazing vids. Just my opinion. Keep it up!
Love the reference to Sting or Whitesnake to drown out the wind noise! Great upbeat reviews.
I want a limited but with bench seats, because the 3rd row will almost always be folded. plus you can relax on that couchy bench. Props for zonking the captain chair arm rest
Top notch review, and detail oriented !!!!
My ideal Highlander: XSE w red interior and platinum trim features with 8 passenger seating
I like the way that you think!

This is a GREAT family car! And Joe, stay safe dude!
Highlander gets better and better, I have a 2008 with 195k miles and still love it. Maybe will look at 2021. Great review. 👍🏻

You looked to be in pain in the third row. Thanks for doing those comparisons! 👍👍
It's a little tight.
I'm zonking prop rod, i agree with your zonking.
Thanks man!
I prefer the 2019 middle row. It feels more spacious than the 2020. My 2019 middle row sits 3 while 2020 sits 2. I love my 2019 Highlander!! Thanks for your video!!
That 8 inch screen is the best infotainment system in the business. There really is no reason to have a screen any bigger. Physical buttons on the side. Physical knobs. Apple CarPlay. It’s the best. That system is going to be working long after a lot of these 10-12 inch screens with included hvac controls shit the bed.
I'm zonking the prop rod!

Hey brother! You are so awesome! Thanks for letting me share my car passion with you!
true that Joe take it slow be safe out there!
"Prop-Rod" is GOOD, no more actuators you'll need to replace down the line !! Excellent !!
I like how the grill is reminiscent of the 2008-10 Highlander grill lol. It's almost like a throwback look... I feel like they could have done more with the tail light. The previous Highlander had a better looking LED design in the tail lights
I like the front hood prop rod. My hydraulic hood supports (Acura TL 2012) died after about 4 years
You can zonk whatever you want, whenever you want because it's your show!!
Great video, pretty cool looking SUV!!
I am so glad that you like this one!
Don’t listen to the haters on the latest Toyota products where they say that they have dropped the ball
Well, I appreciate you candor about the hits and misses along with its competition its up against. I have a 2015 XLE and generally am happy with it. It certainly rides better than my Hyundai Veracruz (discontinued) did. But, that car had chromatic dimming side mirrors which I sorely miss and wonder why Toyota hasn't added it. Nice review. Now off to see what you said about the XLE model.
The hood rod usually last longer ive noticed with the spring in the front hood it wears out and stocks working
Yes, Yes, Yes you should always give a Zonk when there are prop rods - god lord man it shouldn’t be an upgrade. Great review as always.
Shoutout to ur cameramen!
The only other hybrid would be an MDX but that’s more in the luxury segment. You’re right though everyone gotta step up! The Korean automakers are killing it!
I totally agree with you!
Hey dude, love your reviews but I have suggestion. In most of the reviews, you show a frame of the front then you might show the profile then you might show the quarter panel area then you might show the rear. These are all portions shown in different frames but I can’t can’t see a full walk around of the vehicle to see how it looks all together. It’s hard to tell how the vehicle truly looks when you can’t see it all at once. I would suggest that first you take us around the vehicle and show us the looks so we can see what angle look good and what angles don’t. Then, you can go back to the close up shots and start reviewing the different portions like you normally would. That would be great dude. Thanks.
Thanks for the great feedback man!
I am pretty impressed with the interior for this thing. It looks really nice! Minus the 3rd row space, that is pathetic for a car in 2020 that is that large. And Joe, I am in agreement that for $46k, there should be no prop rod. Although, maybe Toyota knows nobody is ever opening it any way.
That is a very good point!
My vote is for a ZONK. If my 2011 Camry LE comes with hoodstruts, then the 2020 Highlander Limited should too.
Very good point!
Hood struts go bad, hood props don't
if you're Raiti we're ready
I love it!
New 2020 Highlander looks good.
Plenty of options. Great Toyota reliability and after sales service gives it the edge. Thanks for bringing this to us Joe! 🙌🙌

I totally agree with you!
Bulletproof engine and transmission! i must've heard that somewhere!
Oh Scotty what did you do to people.
Too bad this 2020 highlander isn't a 94 celica
@@energetictomato9409 Yep, but i'll put my money on the celica mileage wise
*Agree to Disagree Zonk List:*
1. Prop rod on a higher-end vehicle (it's probably a manufacturing time-saver, but still...)
2. Gloss black section on the lower part of the steering wheel (I drive a Camry as a second vehicle, and I know I'm going to break my fingers one day when I forget that there's no cutout there... C'mon, Man!!)
3. Rear window wiper (I agree that the placement should be on the upper part of the window, but I never gave it a thought until your review of the GMC vehicles 👍👍)
4. Minimal third-row seating room (My reason for consideration of the Highlander as a replacement for the Camry... bummer)
Thanks for the great points.
Thank you for your interesting review! In terms of ride quality, soaking up bumps and dips in the road, how would you rate this latest generation Highlander in this segment?
You are so very welcome! I think they did a fantastic job!
My gorgeous red 2020 Highlander XLE FWD handles the bumps and dips very satisfactorily in my opinion. It is a solid riding car with good road handling.
@@kerridillon3120 Great, thanks for sharing your feedback.
Hey you keep on saying that the 2020 is wider than the previous model but I saw that the width stayed the same at 76 inches wide? Love your reviews though keep it up! 😊
Great video. However, it says nothing about a spare tire. Does it have a spare tire?
The nice thing about a prop rod, it won’t fail, and it’s lighter. I may want to race my highlander some day 😁
This true Mark!
You said it, if you want the reliability, get the Highlander. I would never buy a Hyundai or Kia no matter how big the third row is simply because of my past experiences with those brands. The other thing I would like to say is I'm 5'7", 260 pounds, so yes, I'm a fat guy and I could still fit on the third row of a Honda Pilot. I don't think no one would try to sit a 6 footer on any of those third row seats and expect them to fit, let alone be comfortable. Other than that, I loved your review and I enjoy your videos. Keep up the good work.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this one Saul! I appreciate your support and sharing your thoughts.
IT IS BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This looks much better than the one sold in Australia as the RAV4
More three rows please !
If a new vehicle is over 45k, then maybe it should have hood struts and not cheap prop rods.
AGREED!
With Toyota's reliability, you never gonna need to open up that hood, besides regular maintenance. Nice to have struts but not a deal breaker.
Struts wear out and are not cheap to replace. Simple is better for some things. 🤷🏻♂️
Just subscribed a few days ago. Great production quality!
Thanks Sam for joining the Raiti's Rides Family! I really appreciate your support!
Raiti's Rides Yay!
Hi Joe, about the prop-rod zonk, I think prop-rod or gas strut should not be a matter of zonk of their own. Rather how much do they help opening the hood, are they in front of you to reach some frequently touched areas under the hood etc. In most cases a prop rod has two different spots to support the hood. One is for normal check ups and the other let's you open the hood higher so that you can reach at the back and lower sections of the engine bay. So, in a way prop rod allow you to open your hood in two stages. Gas struts on the other hand does not have that kind of flexibility but they can easily open to a decent height without even needing two stages even though this is not true for all of them. So, practicality and functionality should be the real criteria for evaluating the prop-rods or gas struts.
Is there a diff lock?
I'd love to have a car like this
No 360 camera with this trim?
My 2008 Limited has more room in the 3rd row but less trunk space. Thats why i added a Yakima RocketBox
That Highlander rear fender gives it a real BMW family resemblance if you catch my drift.
I totally see it!
I understand that you can't use the waving foot feature to open the rear door if you have a trailer hitch
That is correct. It is written in the Toyota brochure.
Wich 3row have the best third seat’s?
Wow damn...I'm a JBL fan and this is the first vehicle I've heard that has a JBL sound system. Most have Bose, B&O, etc.

Joe, my family needs a suv. We need the reliability of a Toyota, the third row space of a suburban, the gas mileage of a hybrid. I have two big (140lb) American bulldogs, wife, two little girls(2 and5) and a lot of camping gear. We are sick of taking two cars (Corolla and altima) just to take everyone camping or on trips. Love the sequoia because of the rear hatch window that rolls down but hate the gas mileage. Which suv do you think would be right for our family? Thanks!
Don't they have this wind issue on Palisade?
Just wondering Any front and back parking sonar system available on XLE trim? Only available on limited and platinum?
Yes both on the XLE.
Should have prop rod because those don’t go bad… replaced 2 sets already on my Acua over 5 years
Very nice & a great investment that Hylander is no question about it. I'd definitely would wait for the XSE.! However, The Lincoln Nautilus has 335 HP & 370 Torque! Also waiting for the new VW Atlas, because I just love German engineering even though I know there not as reliable as a Toyota.
Me and my wife got the Ruby color. The Highlander is nice
Congrats Edwin! It is a great SUV.
Is this the AWD model?
The previous generation of the Highlander was definitely long-in-the-tooth. Even Toyota, a conservative brand that typically resists updating their vehicles, had to do something to compete with the newer designs from competitors such as the Telluride, Palisade, Atlas, Ascent, Explorer, etc. So what did they do? Apart from offering a hybrid version, a significant feature, and freshening the interior, not much.
Though the length of the 2020 model has been increased from 192.5" to 195", it hasn't made much difference in terms of interior space. And that's especially the case in terms of third row accommodations. With 27.7" of legroom in the back row, the Highlander ranks at the very bottom of ALL midsize crossovers. That's 2" less than the infamously cramped Mazda CX-9. Of course, few if any midsize crossovers offer truly generous third row room. But the KIA Sorento (a full 6" shorter than the Highlander) has 31.7" of legroom, a full 4" more than the Toyota.
Of course third row accommodations may not be a high priority for many customers. But if passenger capacity is important, it's worth keeping in mind that the Highlander is essentially a 4-5 passenger vehicle.
Loving this great input! Always a pleasure!
The way the 3rd row is, its meant for you to proportion leg room across all 3 rows “ total leg room” figures is a better determinant of the space
What do you drive?
Prop Rod Zonk for Life!
I agree David!
You need to speak on quality and reliability when talking competitors. What other vehicle can match the Highlander’s quality and longevity?
That is a very good point!
namret12 can they give you 100k or 10 years warranty? Most of this cars leas anyways. If you looking for 3 row vehicle with comfortable ride, well this is not it.
@Armando Sturzenegger I had Hyundai Palisade that was not fully loaded and I had enough space on all 3 rows. The only uncomfortable thing I found for myself is the buttons that switched transmission. I like the old style. Now, looking forward to try KIA telluride. Now days, this cars is not what they used to be 10 years ago.
The Koreans have definitely caught up but I’d personally say a more safe choice is the Highlander but the Koreans are less of a risky choice than say VW or Nissan or even honda. If you need more 3rd row room just buy a sienna.
Yes the third row is small but Toyota said most if not all were ok with a small third row and the third row reclines to so that could help
Two questions. Can the party tray/cupholder be removed? Can two car seats go into the 3rd row? It looks like there is only one anchor.
Yes it can. It's going to be tight.
@@RaitisRides thanks. Yeah it's between this and the Atlas for me. I had reliability issues with VW 15 years ago, which leaves a bit of a sour taste.
Definitely “zonk” on the prop rod. Silly on a Limited Highlander. I even had one on my 2019 Mustang GT, but I installed lifters. Likely the Highlander does not have the aftermarket to offer any. Sad.
I totally agree with you!
twinkies and abacus, LMAO!! Love it!!
I am so glad that I can share some laughs with you!
Hood prop is okay with an aluminum hood just like the Honda Pilot. Aluminum hood and gas struts won't work together unless you want a wrinkle hood..
Now that's my future car, mom!!! 😂👍🏻
I'd probably change out the exterior color to a blue, get the 2nd row bench seat, and that 12 inch display. Idk about the interior color tho. I'm in between full black and beige. The interior is phenomenal, for a Highlander. And that's my dream Highlander 😂👍🏻

Thanks God I will buy one for myself
Hi,
I just bought a new 2020 Toyota Highlander Hybrid XLE last night from Heritage Toyota Owings Mills in Garrison, MD. Although I did test drive it, including on the highway before purchasing, I never made it above 70 mph on the test drive. On my way home after the dealership closed, I was on the highway going over 70 mph and this hissing, whistling noise developed right from the driver's side window that was driving me crazy. It wouldn't happen if I was going below 55 and would happen intermittently when I was going between 55 and 70. I triple checked that all the windows were fully closed fully and opened and closed the doors to ensure they were completely shut but the hissing and whistling continued when I would hit 70. The only additional option I have on the car is all-weather mats, no door edge guards, and no crossbars or anything else. I love the car but hope this problem gets fixed ASAP or else it'll drive me insane. Put the volume on max, cuz the recording is from a cell phone. The RUclips video link is below.
I already took it to one dealer who were able to reproduce the whistling sound but said there was nothing they could find wrong to fix to make it better. Any suggestions on what I can do because I don't think I can go on with this problem long term.
Thanks,
Anan
ruclips.net/video/2IAFIFh16gw/видео.html
Hi Anan! I am so sorry to hear about that issue. I am wondering if you have a problem with the wether stripping. I would call Toyota directly and let them know of the frustration that you are having at the delaership.
@@RaitisRides thanks for the reply! The dealership said they checked the weather stripping and didn't find a problem there. I'm just scared I'm going to be told there's nothing else that can be done, and that I just have to live with it, which isn't really acceptable to me for an expensive new car.
Have to get the limited if you want the bench seat because it's not offered in the platinum and who doesn't want 12" (on the screen )
