great vid Bruce - been waiting for this since you said the K3 was coming. Been put off the K5 because of the big box up front, much prefer the slim cameras with the box hidden away. K3 vs K5 would be helpful - I'm leaning to the K3. Also, like you I think would assist me with being a bit more angel like!

So Bruce - finally got
my hands on a K3 here in Australia. Took your advice and connected everything on the bench, powered via USB power bank and confirmed all working.
Then took me about 2 hours to fit the cameras and run the cables neatly on my T7 and replace all the panels I’d removed.
Imagine my delight and how much I laughed when went to plug everything into the DVR and realised I hadn’t installed the remote unit! F@(k.
Another hour to run that to my satisfaction and the job was done.
I use the T7 as a daily commuter and weekend adventures - will be interesting to see how the K3 performs.

None of us are angels but the opportunities to go rouge are getting less and less on the roads now anyway, as you’ve said just not worth it any more and you can still have a good ride by flexing the rules just a little! I run a front facing GoPro mounted on the bars purely for record purposes should anything unfortunate happen during the ride.
This sounds like pretty good value though for two cameras, constant power and all the other goodies thrown in.
great review - When I was knocked off in 2019 the first thing the insurance asked was is there video. Lucky for me I got CCTV from local buildings and within 24 hours driver attempted liability and it was all sorted. Dashcam on bike can only help in those situations.

Bought the K2 for not much less than the K3 in December. Which is a bit of a shame as I would have bought the k3 instead.
Personally it’s a must these days to be camerad up, front and back.I’ve got GoPro front and ghost on me lid, hopefully before may I’ll be innovved front and back. Cheers Bruce you’ve sold it to me.
Have been waiting for the k3 review, really good thanks, I think this is the one I will buy, smaller than k5 but better than k2 with the remote, (diesel on the road big problem, hit some in Hull on the way to ferry port last September , manage to keep bike upright but hit guard rail. Bit of damage but the confidence was nocked for months, all take care when you get back out there, )

I can see the value in a system like this now. It took 7 months to resolve a claim following a crash, despite the driver admitting fault at the scene. With all of the delays, I missed the entire season on my own bike, had to utilise my own full comp cover to get the repairs done quicker, as well as suffering increased premiums due to an unresolved claim. Thankfully it all went my way in the end. My new bike will have a camera system installed!

a little late to the party but never too late to say Thank You, Was tempted with the K5 but hiding the wiring at the front of my spyder would need major surgery to its bodywork (something Im not prepared to do) so the K3 looks like its up for the job.. The image quality is not bad, definitely good enough for the average user who does not make videos and just want proof in the event of an accident, or incident with another road user.

I’d like to see a side by side against the K5, especially if you can fit them both to the bike at the same time for real same conditions comparison. BUT I’d also like to see a side by side with a $100 eBay special bike dash camera. I’m sure the Innovv will lead the way and the App and functionality will be superior?
A comparison would be great. Thinking about getting one to record a few rides on the Blue Ridge.
This one looks like a good option out of the three you’ve tested so far & £300 is a good price ,pity no Bruce discount available from them though lol , I for one would like to see a back to back test like you have done with this with the pro . Personally, I’d go for the K5 bud. The faster Wi-fi of the K5 makes all the difference if you want to use any of the app functions like viewing the overlaid gps information etc. It just takes too long to download with the K3, but with the K5 is much better.
The picture quality is also better obviously with the K5 front camera, but if you just want a dashcam for insurance purposes then the K3 is perfectly fine👍

I have had the K2 for a couple of years now and think it’s great. I do like the remote. Download is so slow on the K2. Think the 5 is the way forward for me eventually. 👍🏻💙

A lot of information there 😳 but from my settee, accepting the different mounting positions of the camera’s, I would prefer to watch and listen to your vlog’s from the GoPro set up.
Thanks Bruce, a good honest review. Now I'm not a RUclipsr so I'm not interested in the microphone, so if I read correctly the only difference between the K2 & K3 is the remote? In your opinion is the remote on the K3 worth the extra dosh over the K2 set up? Thanks in advance.
The remote is VERY handy but not an extra £100 handy if you’re not bothered about the mic.
However, personally I’d go for the K5, even though it’s a bigger front camera. The system is smoother to use via the app (because of the faster Wi-fi), the image quality is better, and the audio from the mic is better too for some reason - but I appreciate the K5 is quite a bit more money

Friend, thanks for the review. I also watched the K5 one. But on both I think the main feature you missed reviewing, thats the capacity to recognize the license plates numbers. On a crash, or accident, some people may need to identify the license plate. Is it possible with the K3 or K5 ? Some cameras does not have resolution os frame rate enough to do that. What do you think ? Thanks

Great vid as ever mate, a comparison between the K3/K5 would be of use, as to help many of us decide if the extra £200 for the K5 is worth the cost. I had a moment last night coming on to an empty roundabout, went to lean the bike in only to see & smell a river of dirty diesel. Which certainly concentrated the mind and tightened my arse for a few seconds.....

I’m swapping back to the K5 - the image quality is better, the sound seems to be better from what I remember, and the faster Wi-fi makes using the app much more user friendly

Hi! I discovered your channel looking at Innovv installation videos and I noticed the MyEnergica app on your phone, only to come here and discover you've also got vids of them! Any advice on installing a K3 or K5 on an Energica SS9? Can I connect the system to the 6 or 7 fuse since I can't connect it to the battery? How would I handle parking mode?

I’ve had a big loss of subs this month for some reason - sometimes youtube does spring cleaning and just deletes a load of inactive accounts

No I haven’t bud sorry.
For me, if I just wanted a dashcam system and I wasn’t bothered about the absolute best quality footage and I wasn’t fussed about utilising the app to view/share files - then the K3 is absolutely fine.
However the K5 provides markedly better front footage, and the wifi is significantly faster which makes using the app SO much easier.
Bruce is the real footage better when you watch it on a computer than what we see on RUclips. I paused you vid and zoom in does and is a but blurred. Does RUclips down grade the quality, I hope that makes sense thanks Dave

RUclips does downgrade footage slightly but the K3 is 1080 resolution. It’s not comparable to the footage obtained from a GoPro for sure, but the K5 is considerably better.
A bit off topic but what is the vest you wear over your jacket? Thank you for all the amazing content, I can see how much effort you put into and it’s appreciated. Huge fan. British ex pat living in Miami. Just came back from 3 days of riding through the Smokey mountains, incredible ride. Have you ridden here in the US?
Apart from the early footage into the sun, where the GoPro shone {pun pardon required}, it seemed pretty close in quality to the GoPro elsewhere. The rear must have been on a more substantial mount as it was fairly stable, but the front mount caused wobble.
Better than many in-car Dash Cams. Is the remote a hundred pounds too far?
Personally I don’t think you can compare the quality of footage, the GoPro is in a different league compared to the K2/K3.
Yes the rear is mounted off the flexible anti-vibration stem of the rear indicator and definitely seems to give a better image than the front.
You’re also getting the external mic as well as the remote, over the K2 system - but personally I’d go for the K5.
Would also like to see the comparison with the K5 please.
Hi. Thanks for the review, very interesting. I’m thinking of installing one on my new R1250RT, but I still have a few questions I’m hoping you might be able to answer. Is a Hex EzCAN indispensable or does it just make the installation easier? Does you have any idea where the modules and cameras are best place on the RT, since I’ve only found installation tips/videos for the GS? Thanks in advance.
Hi Chris,
No the EZCan is NOT an essential requirement, it just makes installation a bit tidier and also allows a multitude of other accessories to also be wired up easily and some can even integrate with the ‘wonder wheel’ some BMW’s have on the left handlebar.
Regarding installation on the RT, I’d have to see it tbh.

I have the K2 and I definitely watch my speed now, which is a good thing, I think. Is the K3 worth the upgrade from the K2?
For me no - The remote is a great addition, but the Wi-fi is very slow and picture quality no better than the K2.
I’d go straight for the K5. The increased image quality and faster Wi-fi is a game changer for me, and I also think the K5 is simpler and quicker to fit 🤷♂️

Maybe I’m mistaken, but wasn’t the original spec of the K3 going to have a WiFi connection speed of 5Ghz? I have pre-ordered one anyway as I don’t want to be without a dash cam for much longer. Great video and good save on the diesel! Two areas for improvement (and as you stated in the film) - 1. A “delete all” option should be standard and could be integrated into the remote switch and - 2. Increase the WiFi Transfer rate from 2 to 5Ghz.... and a great vid as always Bruce :)
No I don’t think the Wi-fi was ever advertised as 5ghz on the K3 bud, it’s 5ghz on the K5 and it makes all the difference.

Bruce, what feedback did you get from Innovv of your suggestion for using the remote to toggle recording (via a firmware upgrade). I got nowhere; by you had better luck!

@@teapotone Using the remote would be a better solution, but in the meantime I'll be using an ezCan Gen 2 Aux1 or Aux2 output 3rd wire as switched live to the Innovv voltage controller and toggling recording using the indicator cancel button. This denies parking/security mode (chaos if enabled in app and you switch off recording while riding!). However, by powering the Innovv from the same Gen 2 output, which is convenient and ensures zero drain from the Innovv when unused for a long period, and a 3 position DPDT switch under the pillion seat, I can have:
0 - normal Innovv fit & forget operation less parking/security;
1 - parking/security when also toggled in the app;
2 - Innovv fully powered up with ignition off to dump video over the slow 2.4GHz wifi to phone after a ride.

Personally I’d go for the K5 - faster Wi-fi is a game changer in terms of app usage, and the better resolution just makes it a better system for me personally.
I also find the K5 simpler and quicker to install

Hi Bruce, yes I would like to see a K2 v K3 comparison. Also, I saw on the video that you have one of the phone inserts in your Sat Nav holder, I've just fitted one from China, how do you rate yours?
I got mine on amazon for £20, has worked a treat so far. I bought another usb cable as the one supplied was gold and I wanted a black one.
Apart from that it’s been good 👍

It’s not an accurate measurement, but it gives an indication of a rough average.
I'd be keen to see a comparison against the K2, is there enough of an improvement to justify the difference in price?
There no improvement between the K2 and K3, it’s just you get an external mic and remote on the K3.

Hi Bruce, Do you know if any of the front facing cameras you have reviewed are repairable if the unthinkable happens from a flicked up stone. I realise it’s hardly the fault of the manufacturer if the camera is broken in this way but it makes a big difference if you can repair rather than replace
Formatting an sd card card doesn’t remove the files. Forensic software can recover files even on formatted storage (it’s more like ripping out the index from a book) Google encase software to see what I mean. Looks like a good system for the bike though.
That’s very true, but it would have to be a fairly serious offence for the police to go to such lengths 🤷♂️👍

I wouldn't mind seeing a comparison video. Tossing up between the K3 and K5. A big detractor of the K5 is the camera/DVR unit. Not many places on the front of my MT09 to hide that big unit.
Good review. Any privacy issues in terms of the app sending/storing information to servers you don't necessarily want it to?

planning to buy one, my hex ezcan gen2 is full already, can i splice one of the powerline of hex ezcan for the yellow wire of the Innovv. I dont want to splice my motorcycle powerline wires.thank you

I just received the K5 and I feel like I’m missing a bracket and the booklet it comes with doesn’t tell you the contents it contains. Just installed it today.
Seems I have a problem with the recording. The bike is live so as the canera setup, but it is not starting the recording. I have to connect the phone and to start if from there and when I take off with the bike it just stopped the recording ....
No idea how and why ( not found similar case on the help forum )
Teapot! If you have the K2 would you change to the K3...? Or, would you just stay at k2...?
Personally I’d stay with the K2 - however the K5 is a decent step up in quality and ease of use, but it’s also a step up in price

How easy is removal of the system to move to a new bike in 2-3 years? I am really tempted but only if I can move it over quite easily and without having to buy expensive mounts etc for the new bike.
Very easy bud, I’ve been installing and uninstalling the K3 and K5 constantly during the testing phase as there were a number issues we had to work out with the K3 in terms of firmware.
I’d say the K5 is even easier to install/uninstall than the K3/K2.
The ‘hardest’ bit will simply be tapping in to your new bikes switched-live feed, but if you know what you’re doing, it’s a piece of pee

How much bigger are the cameras compared the K2?
The 1080 cams are practically the same size, but the 4k of the K5 system is considerably bigger
Hey Bruce I notice the sound is not great in comparison to the Go Pro but all else is ok .It would be interesting to see the difference between the two K3/K5 I am guessing the K5 is a whole lot more expensive but what extra is there .Are ya saying that if I have my phone in my pocket it records my speed at any time when I am out ! how? .interesting vid mate very useful as per cheers : )
Simple physics bud - you’re phone tracks you according to what nearest phone mast you’re near, and it’s possible to plot these with the relevant times you were there which then allows them to work out a rough average speed between those points.

I got my K3 yesterday connected all up and had no power to the remote and when on the app it said make sure connection correct couldn't get any wifi do you have to connect the dvr to your laptop at any time
No mate you shouldn’t have to connect to your laptop at all.
Did you follow my installation vid?
Have you ensured the triggered-live is actually live?
Have a look on the DC converter and make sure the little blue led is lit - that tells you there’s power going to the unit.
If you have power to the system but the remote still has no power, then either you’ve connected the remote up to the wrong port (which I think is impossible to do as it should only fit in one specific port from what I remember), or your remote unit is faulty - in which case I’d contact INNOVV UK.

Just done a check now have the unit working off of power pack to make sure that no duff parts. On the hex which colour wire did you use and presumably I will have to reconfigure the hex before connecting as on my old bike I didn’t have one set up for my K1 and set up for aux that might have been the issue when originally setting up doh cheers

Really impressed with this version as an always on cam, yeah it's no go pro and I wouldn't use it for our fancy shmancy vlogs....but definitely as a dash cam it looks the job tbh!

Mate I had another copper report me to our ‘internal affairs’ when I did the S1000RR review - that’s what ultimately led me to leave the old bill 🤷♂️

Does this system have a bluetooth mic ir is it hard wired in and a wire running to your helmet ? Looking for a system with a wireless helmet mic, any recommendations for a system to fit a trike?

I’m guessing that my Superduke GT would get the rear camera filthy given the amount of crud splattered across rear end when I’m out riding
Yep you have to get into the habit of cleaning the cameras every time you stop
Bear in mind, you could always get a VSYS P6L which does exactly the same job (apart from having a built in mic). for less than £100.
