I used to as well, but I managed to get all the chaos emeralds by casino night act 2 in Origins with Tails. On the Geneesis, I could only ever pull off a super sonic run with Sonic. They fixed it up soooooo well in 2013
I don't know about you guys, but whenever I'd finish these special stages on the original Sonic The Hedgehog 2, I'd always try to get Sonic and Tails in the center to collect the chaos emerald. Now that the new game does that automatically, anyone else feel a slight relief they don't have to worry about it now?

That's because the half-pipe is in real 3D in this port. It runs on the Christian Whitehead "Retro Engine", so it's not the same Sonic 2 that you grew up with.

I didn't have to get up early for work like I do now. Sega had some of the best games of the early 90's. I feel blessed for having such a epic childhood. Emeralds merely are the green variety of an entire family of crystalline stones collectively known as Beryls (Crystalline Beryllium Aluminum SIlicate) Pure Colorless Beryl is called Goshenite. There is a Beautiful Yellow kind called Heliodor. There are TWO Blue kinds of Beryl known as Aquamarine and Bazzite. Morganite can range in color from a rosy pink to a lavender color. The rarest of these gems is the Red Bixbite (and gem quality stones of this type can be as expensive as Diamonds)

I'm only VERY slightly disappointed that they didn't change the pink emerald to the dark blue one (or a lighter blue one) so it's consistent with the 7 colours that were decided after Sonic 3. I do like the 3D remake of the Special Stages, although I confess I'm used to the original 1992 ones if only because of some visual cues in the half-pipe becoming muscle memory.
Do you realize that Sonic's in front and Tails grabs the rings you missed and he has his own ring counter so in the end he gives you more rings. So it's not tails it's you.
I'm surprised that they managed to make special stages worse than Sonic 1's. That maze bullshit in the first game wasn't even hard, it was just disorienting and frustrating to navigate. But this shit gets insidiously hard at the 5th stage. 200 rings? Really?
yes, me and my brother used to play both this stages, much easier, and if you do it to perfection it looks really awesome going both from opposite directions and crossing in the air, jumping at the same time and everything, really fun and you make good memories with your second player, it takes time to learn the stages to perfection, I now cherish the time when I played this with my brother.
What about special stage 8? You can play it in the stage select by playing the sound 07 in the sound test thing and then going to special stage but the problem is if you lose you get kicked back to Emerald Hill Zone act 1 but if you win it you get sent to a glitched sonic 2 where I assume robotnick has taken all the emeralds already so you can`t enter special stages but you can't turn super so you have to stop robotnick's temporary attack on the island

In the genesis version special stages were pre rendered, barely gave you time to react cuz the range you can see stuff is not far so you hit into bombs, special stages 3-7 are literal hell for genesis players, You shouldn't be agruing

I played as Super Sonic before the first boss in the game when I was 7 years old. The stages aren't hard.
