The focal length and unobtrusive look. Finally someone came up with a modern replacement for the Canonet. Please send me one. I’m poor (because I’m a full time photographer).
Wouldn't you know it..the X100V came out just after I purchased my X100F but I don't feel slighted in the least. I really like the film simulation options (especially the monochrome/black and white, and the sepia tone options), and the built-in filter simulations. Also like that I can switch from LCD screen viewing to the EVF viewfinder although I find myself using the EVF viewfinder just about 100% of the time because that's what I'm used to. I also use full manual focus and exposure setting most of the time because I like to have full control..again that's what I'm used to owing to up until I purchased my X100F I used a full manual 35 mm film SLR. It's nice to have all those options available though. Just really nice handy digital cameras. I purchased a 49 mm adapter ring and 49 mm UV/haze filter to protect the lens as is mentioned in the video to serve the same purpose as what they are including with the X100V.
The X100 changed everything for me including photography and no other camera inspired me more. It's been with me at all times since day one no matter the iteration but the X100V is superb! Thanks!
Weather sealing is good although I don't believe in such protection but the new lens the image quality and the new ergonomics are reasons enough to upgrade in my humble opinion
Not enough upgrade to be a new camera. I've had the original 100, now the 100F. I do love the camera. If this was a 1.4, it would be great. Also I'm not sure if they fixed the macro softness issue with the added aspherical lens. Maybe a quicker way to put on the converter lens? (now its so slow, that I don't even use it). What about weather sealing? Eterna film simulation? Make it worth it, fuji! Correction! After seeing DPReview: Yes, weather sealing, Yes, close focus fix, HDR-keeping the raw files, better iso dial... Looking pretty good actually (especially if you don't have the x100F).
The X100F is a great camera and so is the X100 series no matter the iteration but the X100V reaches a new level. The outcome is better than what I get with my X-pro3 and the 23mm f2 lens. Amazing!
Why would you shoot macro with this lens anyway? The X100V screams documentary and street photography. If you want to shoot macro there are better lenses for that.
Hi Derek, this looks like a camera I might like. Love the retro looks, and reminds me of some film cameras I have. Thumb up, and now time to look closer at the specs.
Does the lens stop down to f/22 or did they keep the smallest aperture at f/16? I like to shoot waterfalls with that 'flowing water' effect (not 'freezing' the water motion) and I found in normal daylight (mid-afternoon sun no clouds) condition the slowest shutter speed I could get was 1/4 second (not quite slow enough) and that was with the ISO set at 'L' (I think ISO 100 equivalent), lens aperture set at f/16, and the neutral density filter simulation 'on'. In other words all settings I could think of to yield a half second or slower shutter speed. Any suggestions as to how to achieve a slow enough shutter speed to give that 'flowing water' effect? I was using the camera on a tripod with a cable release. I used to do this all the time with a film SLR but can't quite figure out how to do it with my X100F. Thanks.
Unfortunately, the minimum aperture on the X100V is f/16. However, to achieve a slow enough shutter speed for a flowing water effect, the use of an ND filter would be ideal. If you have the Fujifilm AR-X100 Adapter Ring, this will allow you to use an ND filter such as the B+W 49mm XS-Pro Digital ND Vario MRC-Nano Filter, B&H # BWNDVXSP49. bhpho.to/32g3brD
@@BandH Yeah I already have the AR-X100 adapter ring so I can use a UV/haze filter as a lens protector..will keep your suggestion of getting the neutral density filter in mind. Thanks.
Anyone one know if the lens hood and adapter from a F will fit? Does the colour match? Looks like a different colour and Fuji is famous for their many shades of silver.
Fujifilm has maintained the same shade of silver for the X100V as with previous models. Also, both the LH-100 Hood and the AR-X100 Adapter Ring are still compatible.
This is great, a tilting back-side screen that flips. Perfect for waist-level shooting. This might be the upgrade that will get me to pull the trigger!
It is interesting to leave the result of the photos at least 2 or 3 seconds longer so that we can better see the quality of the photo. It's too fast, okay?
I love everything I've seen and heard about the 100V so far. But my 100S, now 7 years old, still works well and gives me excellent image quality. So I'm going to be wating until I win the lottery, or more likely until something crashes with my 100S.
The left side of the camera is incredibly dangerous the way you had the camera strap installed. The right side looks okay. It looks like the left side would just come loose from the camera strap.
Having had both the X100S & X100T, the biggest question here is if the updated x-trans sensor has been fixed to correct the notorious issue of high-iso + wide aperture = waxy skin.
I love the screen on the X-pro3 and if you ever shoot with it you'll understand why. They didn't go all the way with the X100V and I understand why and it's OK but it would have been a great feature
You show a little bit of bad faith by saying that with a 35mm you can do everything "except wildlife and sport" photography. You can't do portrait or concert either just to mention those two fields...
It's "bo-keh" not "bo-kah". You're B&H for heaven's sake! Pleaaaase pronounce it right. It's a real Japanese word. Google it. There's also plenty of RUclips videos that explain how it's pronounced. Peter McKinnon used to say "bo-kah" but changed it to "bo-keh" after learning the correct pronunciation.
@@isviewer Duh. I am 100% Japanese and it irritates me. "Bo-kah" is 100% incorrect. Unlike the "Nikon" controversy, there's only one pronunciation of "bo-keh." I wouldn't make a big deal if this was a plain vlogger, but this is B&H for crying out loud.
@@isviewer I am not from an English speaking country but try to pronounce the words correctly, likewise with Japanese (bokeh) or German (Leica for say an example) words. I see it as respect at least trying.

Would have been nice to just give it ibis or a 1.4 lens like a lot of mockups showed. This is a very small upgrade from the 100f

Any 49mm filter can be used on this camera.
Wonder how much to topped up for the charger and adapter ring?

Is the field curvature problem (@ landscapes) fixed with the new lens?
So far, there have been no negative reports regarding this issue on the X100V to our knowledge.

Shari Barnes yes
The X100V does allow for movement of the focus points via the touchscreen.
Is the X100F leather casing compatible with the X100V?
.....I'd rather not have to purchase all new accessories.

I would seriously consider this camera if it had a flippy screen. What it has now is very limiting (not as limiting as a fixed screen, I know).

Yes, the Fujifilm X100V shares the same NP-W126S battery as the X100F.
The left side of the camera is incredibly dangerous the way you had the camera strap installed. The right side looks okay. It looks like the left side would just come loose from the camera strap.
can I still use the accessories for x100f for x100v?
Yes you can
Yes, many of the same accessories used on the X100F can also be used on the X100V.
Having had both the X100S & X100T, the biggest question here is if the updated x-trans sensor has been fixed to correct the notorious issue of high-iso + wide aperture = waxy skin.
As of now, the results have been positive in terms of the high ISO and wide aperture use.
GREAT fixed lens with much of what makes the X Pro III great (without the STUPID LCD).
