  • This video series addresses the disorders most likely to co-exist with ADHD (comorbidity) and what parents need to know about how each affects the understanding and management of a child or teen's ADHD.
Part I discusses comorbidity in general as well as the impact of co-existing oppositional defiant (ODD) and conduct disorders (CD) on ADHD.

I am a psychologist working in this area and this Dr Barkley is probably the best source of evidence based information I have seen so far. I also work with many LGBTIQ populations and I refer them to this channel. It would be ideal if the commentary might be more inclusive when giving examples of families and couples for example. With much gratitude for this incredible channel he is such a gift to everyone who wants to be well informed about this complex disorder 🙏🏻😊

I’m just wondering about the overlap between ODD in childhood and narcissistic behaviour in adulthood if they don’t grow out of their oppositional and defiant behaviour.

I suspect they're very closely linked in some people. I wonder if in years to come we'll gain a much better understanding of these things and perhaps realise that we're simply describing different sides of the same coin. Certainly, I think the DSM classifications need to evolve and change (much as the ICD system has) as the DSM's personality disorder categorisations are too reductive and in some cases quite arbitrary. It's interesting to note though that conduct disorder is so closely linked to antisocial personality disorder (another cluster B personality disorder, which can look quite similar to narcissistic personality disorder in some aspects).
