I've learnt to separate the sub from the bass by using a dedicated sub bass channel in mono with a simple sine wave. Every other bass then can dance around the sub. Both basses are also separated by EQ. I thought this would be a good idea. Nevertheless, this is a very useful video. Thank you very much.
Not having a bass response in the car is about translation from your speakers to your car. Likely, your issue is not only the bass, but you might not be understanding what is a 'good frequency response' in your speakers/headphones. Therefore, I recommend you to reference more your mixes and compare when mixing! Don't forget to join our Discord Channel abstraktmusiclab.com/discord
There should be that seperation because having the bass and the kick in mono under certain frequencies (below 150hz) will help translate it better in big club systems and festivals and also eliminate phasing issues and noise cancelation in these massive speakers, as far as i know festival engineers also by default making these frequencies on purpose in mono (mastering engineer also does this) so in any case if you making dance music is a bit useless to having the low end information in stereo field. The legit thing tho is that you can widen the bass to give this effect but above ~160hz and not lower than that.
Yes. That's often what I do I'm just showing that some producers don't really do that though, but I agree woth you. 160hz ish as it totally depends on the bass progression but I agree with you. Even though I agree with you, it's good to say that it's not an ISSUE as most people say though

if you want to get as accurate of a transfer as possible on vinyl and not only get away with out of phase bass frequencies by cutting at low level, centering the bass synth or decreasing its width for a vinyl optimized mix would behoove you and I think it’s best to have a clear communication with your mastering engineer since ME will probably have more experience and better equipment to sort out this problem
That one person who left a dislike to this video must be putting sub level of his breakdowns +4 dB compared to his drops haha Btw when the bass is put to mono in the provided examples I instantly get the feeling "ok now it sounds like trance". In a way EDM becomes more alive and pleasantly dirty since people got used to a signature "sterile" sound by now.
Guys, i got a question, should I have my kick main freq (usually thump kicks cuz i like em) at the same frequency as my sub or should I try to avoid that ?
Not necessarily.. Check this video ruclips.net/video/viuX4CL9azE/видео.htmlsi=pyqvxdHXWscJK7i2 Don't forget to join our Discord Channel abstraktmusiclab.com/discord
Not necessarily... some basses are intended to be wide, like drone basses, and that's not an ISSUE, it's just a choice. However, there are certain parts of the BASS that I, personally, like to keep it in mono and would say that if you lose your sub in mono, then yeah you need to fix that. but that's me only Don't forget to join our Discord Channel abstraktmusiclab.com/discord

100% .. having a good communication with your engineer is key, but also the better you can deliver files to engineer, the better

Ha thanks man!!! But trance basses are often quite wide to be honest! Depends on the track!

Doesn’t the fact that you lost all that information in mono just mean it wasn’t a well made bass?
