I know that I'm old fashioned. I'm 65 years old. But when my children were young they had to clean their bedrooms. Every weekend. That was a given. They had to clean up their stuff and once a month they had to clean out from under their bed where they shoved everything. My son when he was in the 6 or 7th grade come to me one morning asking for a specific shirt and I asked him if he looked in his drawer and he said it's not in there. I said well. It's probably laying in the floor with the dirty clothes and he screamed at me. You mean you've not washed that shirt yet. I cut my eyes at him and he shut up and left. When he got in from school I proceeded to show him how to sort his laundry, how to wash it, how to dry it and how to fold it. That was the last time I ever touched his laundry. He went to school complaining about it but he did his own laundry from that point on.

My mother was more strict on cleaning. We need to clean ours rooms every day and clean the comun areas of the house. She was doing all the cooking and laundry. When on age I was doing the food shopping and budgeting. I am very grateful my mother rise me in that way. House chores became natural to me. Just I hate ironing and try to buy everything no need iron or easy iron. Sorry mum for all the times I did the chores on bad mood. Today is a blessing. 💕

I just ran across ur videos today. ❤ you gave her a fresh start with her room. You should do a wkly check. Pick a day and mark it down. She can make her bed every morning takes like 2 minutes. Pick up clothes , take dishes back to kitchen. Maybe do a 5 minute reset before she goes to bed. Keep putting out videos.

Love this video, reminds me of being a teenager and I wouldn't clean my room like I should have. After a while like 15/16 I started getting my stuff taken away until I did what was needed. Growing up my mom would have never done this, though I had to do it myself

Same! My mom would have told me not to come out of my room until it was clean. I was never organized and always had clutter in my room and I’m trying to teach my kids differently. My mom was never organized either so I think it’s something you learn as you grow up from experience. ❤️

@Amanda Payne maybe it's something hereditary? Genetic? Idk what term to use but mayne it's wired in certain families DNA because I have seen others who are completely organized and had zero problems as far as cleaning up on their own as kids. I won't clean my 2 oldest kids room but I do reorganize their drawers and closet they're 5 and almost 10 now. I definitely clean my toddlers' room though 😅

Great job! I would recommend putting a plastic rug like for desks or a cheaper rug under the vanity and craft table. It helps for the small stains and saves wear and tear on the carpet.

Hello. New here. My 14 yr old son and 16 yr old daughter do not pick up after themselves and I always have to spend a whole day cleaning up their messes in their room. Growing up we had to do all our own cleaning. This generation is much more lazier. Thanks for sharing.

My daughter is 15 and her cream carpet got ruined with stains from make up etc. We bought her a darker carpet. But she still got spoken about respecting her room and belongings. I once bin bagged her belongings she refused to pick up and got rid of them. She quickly learnt when I tell her to tidy her room I mean it otherwise I will go in with a bin bag.

This is the most transparent thing I have seen recently. My daughter would not like her messy room displayed this way but it’s truly just like this sometimes minus the food because we only eat in the dining room or kitchen. I’m going to help my teens organize their rooms soon. I’m sure they will move it once we are done. Thanks for sharing

Great video! How I miss my messy teenager years. It's so much easier to clean 1 room instead of a whole house. As for the carpet, i recommend folex. It will cut your cleaning time in more than half of the time. I live by this stuff and try to tell everyone the hidden secret. I've gotten sharpie, lipstick and wine out of my white carpets!

I have two cats and one is a long haired cat. I bought a Bissell carpet scrubber and it gets all the cat hair up. Literally rolls it up and sucks it up. It’s more expensive but well worth the money. I also didn’t find anything wrong with you being upset with your daughter. Teaching responsibility and that you have to take care of your things plus be respectful of other peoples things is important. Very well said. I just came across your site today and am glad!

22:02 I’m Re-Watching old videos before bed. Lol you’re talking about cleaning stains and they come back. What I’ve learned is that the carpet stays damp for a bit, and then walked on or whatever and I’ve actually had stains get bigger because of walking on the damp carpet or whatever is happening. It’s super frustrating and annoying! Just know you’re not the only one dealing with this issue.

Looking at the way your daughter left her cosmetics she needs a visual system for organizing. Your style is sorting and hiding it a away inside a case. She probably cannot keep up that. She might be able to organize it in separate transparent vases on the desk and the powders on a tray. Check out the butterfly and crickets of Clutterbug ( YT)

Hi! New subscriber here. I just wanted to offer some constructive criticism: there is a big jump in volume from video to video if I'm watching some of your videos back to back. I know that's a nitpicky thing, but it's one of the things I notice. I like to hit 'go' on a playlist and let it run while I'm cleaning things but I had to run back to the computer to hit up or down a couple of times. I love your content and sincerity and look forward to watching more of your decluttering videos this year!

My carpet cleaner spits out the fuzz balls too. It is all dog and cat hair in my house. It also happens more on the area rugs where I use the cordless more than upstairs where I use my corded pet pro vac. So I've always assumed it is based on h9w far down in the pile the vacuum lifts the pet fur out.
Keep up the good work mama! Her room looks great!

I think sometimes, stains get into the padding and then work their way back up into the carpet.
Slow vacuuming will help pull up a lot of the dust/lint etc, then the cleaner shouldn’t spit out as much.
It’s crazy what all baby wipes can clean.. if she keeps a pack in her room, it’ll be handy for accidents.

You could say to your daughter that you will be vacuuming & dusting her room every Monday morning & everything that is left out will be yours to do with as you please. Then you get get rid of the clutter or if it’s something you would like to keep then she could earn it back by doing chores. Stick to your guns. If she cares about it, she will tidy it away. Remember it’s her stuff but it’s your house.

I was raised to respect my parents things but I had 3 younger sisters and things just happen-I do agree that getting a stain out immedialey is better than waiting and trying to get it out later! Also-I have a pet carpet cleaner and I still get those black fuzzballs when I carpet vacuum-dog hair with cat hair just makes it happen unfortuantly! I wish they made one that didn't leave those on the ground but I notice the more I carpet vacuum, the less I see them!

You did a great job cleaning your daughters room? How old is she? If they don’t learn how to keep up with their stuff when they are young it may cause lots of problems when they are on their own!? Some kids you have to check on their rooms every night before bed time to teach them to have and know how to show respect for others! After a while the kids will get it and will not need you to treat them like babies 🤪 LOL
