@aena mustafa Necessary is an arguable term. It's not necessary in a lot of careers for sure. Others it is. Certainly possible to have a lucrative career without it, although average wages for uni grads over one's life are substantially higher than non. This was so comical I had to replay it from the beginning a few times. 1) Why would you have another child if you’re broke living at home with her parents. 2) Marriage is too much of a big step but having kids with someone isn’t? 3) The first child was school age when she got pregnant the second time. As soon as her first son was off to school she should have been working not getting pregnant again so she can be a SAHM. 4) Again, I can’t stress this enough, why would you get pregnant again when you can’t afford to take care of yourself.

I would honestly say this as a Christian. A lot of people don’t understand that when you get these very important life events out of order like living with someone having kids and not being married, people usually struggle in their situation and they don’t realize because God is not blessing them. The reason why I say this, is because there is a difference in sense. A sin that is well thought out as opposed to a sin that is just an addiction or just happens involuntary there is a difference. If you choose to live with someone, shack up and pretend that you’re a married couple you’re pretending to have a relationship. That’s not normal. And that is something that is methodically planned out and you have to choose day-to-day to live in that sentence. It’s not like you slip up in a moments notice and the sin happens and there’s a big difference in the heart on these issues. And if you choose day after day to live in rebellion methodically planning this out and willingly making these mistakes there’s a difference it’s a heart issue. And God will not bless you more than likely.

We now live comfortably, we don't live in CA, tho. If you're almost 30 and you're still stuck in a low paying job, try moving up! :)
Me and my husband make 130k and we’re about to have our second child and we are freaking out about not making enough. I can’t imagine the stress this family is under!
Hope is not a plan. At 28, jumping from job to job and see "what sticks" is a recipe for disaster. Being myopic about your future results in surprises and headaches dealing with them. He claims to be engaged six years, both him and her are playing family as they are not serious about having one and the responsibilities that come with one. Selling a car is not always the answer.. you then replace monthly payments with expensive and unpredictable car repairs. Not eating out is not going to help you pay off debt either. You have to eat no matter what, and doing groceries vs. eating out will only save you a couple $ here and there.

You can make $80k plus in the pipe trades in California. My husband is a pipefitter, and we live south of Sacramento this year he is over $100k so far. It is a good living and the union apprenticeships will pay you and have you take classes at night at the union halls ( tuition included, meaning no student loans).😊 They start out 1st year apprentices making more than you are making. If you aren't interested in pipe trades, try the carpenter's union or the electrician's union. It's so nice to know you have a union pension when you retire. He just needs to get his baby momma a job and theyll be ok
She's putting off marrying him b/c she's not sure he'll ever be financially stable...that's what my intuition says 🤷🏼♂️
That's what I think too. I think she really likes this guy that I feel like she doesn't think he's ever going to improve his income status so she wont commit.
Yep, i get the feeling she's waiting for the Wesley upgrade...
So she keeps having kids with him, cuz that's smart. My guess is she's afraid of losing him so she saddles him with kids
@@hansonallie The sucky part is that *unemployement can hit her "upgrade" too!* So why a 2nd child with this man..? PLUS string him along?? I just can't respect her🤦🏽♀
Cold feet, not enough cold hard cash.
You don’t.
This instantly made me feel better about my financial situation and life.
Totally knew this but needed to hear it again. Please pray that I can figure this out. I can’t fail again.
Time to get a career buddy. This is high school grocery bagger wage. Get a job at a warehouse or construction crew and make it clear during interviews you are looking to grow fast in the org.
And your girlfriend needs to work nights/weekends.
Warehouses fire people easy and construction isn't stable
If she made 30K and he made 10-15K more that would be livable
As a high school grocery bagger, we make less actually, lol.
@@Cozmic-mike Point taken, Mike. In my area the high school students at my local grocer do make around $13-14/hour :)
@aena mustafa Necessary is an arguable term. It's not necessary in a lot of careers for sure. Others it is. Certainly possible to have a lucrative career without it, although average wages for uni grads over one's life are substantially higher than non. There is certainly some self-selection there, though, so it's not an apples to apples comparison. Kind of like how medical doctors make a ton of money on average, but if you took the average MD and put them in another career they'd do well as well, because what makes them an MD (brains + drive) is applicable across many paths.
“I’m basically a simp”
Dave : “Ok, Cool!”
Move to Dallas more specifically Carrollton, Richardson, or East Plano TX work for Amazon. After a year when youre considered a resident in your county, enroll in DCCCD or Collin college get an associate degree in respiratory therapy technology, sonographer, firefighting, peace officer etc. Community colleges down here have great reputations, they are respected and tuition for in county residents is low. This area is also family friendly. God Bless you. I pray for the best for you and your children and fiance.
Very good ideas!
LaT How you are very smart ,Look at you !!!😂👏🏼👏🏼👍🏼
This is why high school students need to watch Dave, learn from others mistakes!
You ain't lying brother 🤔
7:18 I might be crazy but it sounds in the last line, Dave was saying that he was talking to his son. "Because I just did" Does that mean he just talked to his son? Was that his son? 😮 I don't know much about Dave's family
I really like how Dave Ramsey encourages him to make more money. I grew up around the type of Christians who preached "be content with you pay" that kind of thinking put me on a path to poverty.
Step 1: Get Married
Step 2: Wife needs to work
Step 3: Find another job
Step 4: Follow Dave’s Baby Steps

Work a weekend job at an amazon warehouse, they hire everyone and pay 15 an hour. It’s rough but 12 thousand extra is worth it
Are you saying you can work there solely on the weekends?
They better pay more than that in states like California
Do you have to carry heavy things?
Karen Leon there are different positions some where you can just scan packages
ً I’m 6 months late 😂😂 but ya some shifts are only 3 days a week. They have lots of different shift types you should look into your local warehouse
I charge my tenants $2200 per month. That’s $26,400 per year. The average home value in the area is $700,000 to $5,000,000. Welcome to Southern California.
I make 31k a year and still only get by, by renting rooms. CA is expensive af. Especially when you need to go through a credit check, have a massive deposit on a place, and property managers want you to have an income that's 2 to 3 times what rent is to even get a place.
You don’t. You move.
she needs a career path too! Mothers have a financial responsibility to their kids as much as fathers do. She can work!
Yes but also they will miss their mother been at home taking care of them.. women that work and have a career don't as much time for the kids... But the man has to make enough money for her to be able to stay home..

It is insane how expensive it is out here in California. Especially housing.
I can understand where this guy is coming from. He knows he need some guidance to improve his life, and he made the first steps, he just has no clue where to go next. I truly think he wants to improve, but just has no idea how to do it. Hopefully he can get there. I wish him the best.
Great advice, I hope he takes it to heart for his kids sake.
Dave had the long answer. The short answer is "that's impossible"
As soon as he said he's not paying rent I checked out.
Yes, how toxic of them to put him up for free.
@@evegreenification right? The parents probably want them to get out on thier own.
He's been with this chick for 7 years and they still ain't married.. duuuude she's totally getting her gaps filled by other men, $27k is below poverty in California.
are you implying she's playing stay-at-home-hide-the-kielbasa!? lol
no phone call is going to save this kid. i was scared shitless in my early twenties and no idea what i wanted to do with my life. at least i was going to school and no kids to worry about. his situation just seems hopeless.
Living with fiance's parents, having kids, 27k total income, 30k of debt, living in California.. it just keeps getting worse and worse as they talk.
How Do I Survive In California Making $27,000?
You dont 😂
Sam Levine He’s not paying rent though
This generation does not and *WILL NEVER* make sense to me. It’s love, respect, and commitment, then marriage, *THEN* if you are mentally, emotionally, and financially stable, if you so choose - having children. The order matters people, don’t know what’s so hard to understand about that 💁🏽♀️
Samantha you're speaking TRUTH. It must be rocket science since nobody since my grandma's generation knows how to prioritize these simple steps!
So Samantha...are you single at the moment?
Nick P I’m actually engaged to my best friend and life partner (my boyfriend) 😊
Samantha Murphy-Keller I figured you would, you've got a good head on your shoulders
I’ve never understood people who have babies before they at least have a career!

Daniel Iles EXACTLY, California is FULL. I would love to live in Palos Verdes Estates but I can’t afford it so I don’t live there.
ladweeb Then you should get a better job and work harder then you could live where you want. That’s what Dave Ramsey is telling this guy to do.
Thank god. I want all the white people to leave.
He lives in a very cheap part of Cali. Marysville.
lamingtongirl123 The only thing that’s holding up California now is white peoples money. All the white people leave you will be living in a toilet you racist pos.
When Dave Ramsey says, "You're starving to death" I die every time lol. But for real, he needs more income and life goals. And he needs to actually marry her.
ALXSSA nah don’t marry her

Dave: "I'm sorry man, paint or get off the ladder" LOL
This is so true though. She needs to get on board with this guy or LEAVE.
“Paint or get off the ladder” that line is pure gold.
I’m sure it is living in a toxic environment with your fiancé’s family since you’re the one mooching off of them.
Me and my husband were here when he was 28. 2 kids and about the same salary, maybe less. And in 4 years, he's making over $60K with bonuses becoming a GM at his fast food job.
It is sad, however, that kids are involved and have to grow up in this environment.
I like seeing more videos with lower income families , I’m 20 and going to school but currently not making much income so I like to try and learn from their mistakes and know more of what not to do. Also more lower income families that calls more people that actually need the information that he has.
i hate seeing the calls where they make a million bucks a year and cant figure out why theyre broke
He said “paint or get off the ladder” real quick.
"Paint or get off the ladder" 🤔😅😂🤣😭
There's truth in that order thing
This is just called stupid. Making 27k and continuing to have kids? I mean come on....
I love how Dave brings prayer life into this video! Keep it up man!
I knew dave would said something about the 7 year engagement lol
Energia Positiva he did. He said paint or get off the ladder
As soon as the caller said it you could see it on Dave's face. Time to hurt feelings.
I moved to Tijuana. My rent went from $1100 a month down to under $300.
Thats how I survive on 30k a year in "California"
It’s pretty dumb that everyone said he needs to move out of state. Why don’t u google the town he lives in its $700 per month for a 2 bedroom. He is fine where he is at he just needs a 2nd job or the girl needs a job too and they will be fine.
Clair3 Kee exactly Marysville is very affordable but not many jobs there
Get in an electrical apprenticeship and move to Toledo OH or Fort Wayne IN. I couldn't find an electrician who could squeeze me in less than 6 months out and cost of living is cheap there. 3 years and he would be doing well.
She’s not afraid to have babies 😂😂😂 DAWG less than a minute in.
Selling a car is not always the answer.. you then replace monthly payments with expensive and unpredictable car repairs. Not eating out is not going to help you pay off debt either. You have to eat no matter what, and doing groceries vs. eating out will only save you a couple $ here and there.
I used to go down to my lakehouse with a yellow pad to brainstorm and talk to god too. Sometimes I'd hear his reply which was comforting. I like to think he was helping but Dang! if it didn't sound just like "Hey you, get off my land".
Outside of Sacramento yeah Marysville is pretty expensive to live at

LOL dave said "you can have babies, but you cant get married???" 😂😂😂 bahahah that guys brain dropped.
I am a pessimist and fear that this will not end well with this family. I feel most sorry for the kids.

We were just about your age when my husband joined the pipe trades. It totally changed our income. He was making minimum wage and I was waitressing. Anyway, all that to say you can do it!
“Paint or get off the ladder” Dave is amazing 😂
When Dave asked what his plan was and the caller said he’ll jump from job to job in hopes he finds something .. I almost lost it. He’s 28 years old and has no plan! That is very scary at his age!
This is a perfect example of that study Dave rightly likes to state, the study says if you graduate high school, get married and have kids after marriage, you have a 97% chance of not being in poverty. This dude broke the rules.
Great analogy...Paint or get off the latter.
Why do people see marriage as more of a commitment than children!? You can’t get rid of children.
