    What makes the Dungeons in Ocarina of Time so Special?

    • @RentabaAmakura
      @RentabaAmakura 2 года назад +9

      THE MUSIC❤️

    • @FoakHome
      @FoakHome 2 года назад +9

      Also the atmosphere!
      The music plays part in that. But the design, dialogue around them, architecture, enemies, etc. It leaves so much to the imagination you can't help but theorise about potential lore!

    • @mossie104
      @mossie104 2 года назад +5

      They’re dungeons! Each with their own traps, hidden places and mechanics - we need more of them and they should be outstanding in BOTW2, Nintendo have plenty of experience!

    • @majormarketing6552

      Perhaps because Link was sent back to be a child by Zelda, Majora’s Mask is Link needing to overcome the challenges of the spirit temple that he didn’t get to overcome. Majora’s mask represents the sun and it uses the moon to kill Termina.

    • @Mehwhatevr
      @Mehwhatevr 16 дней назад

      The atmosphere. They're not just... places with traps and puzzles. They have a theme, they are designed so that you feel like you are adventuring into a real place that existed for a real purpose. And maybe that purpose has been twisted.... or not. You can theorize about what that purpose is. In some other Zelda games, the dungeons (or whatever you want to call them depending on the game) are so sterile and out of place. feeling like they were built just for the player/Link to get through. They're like if 2D zelda dungeons were remade in 3D.
      It's not perfect. The Water Temple in OoT is an example of a sterile, out of place dungeon that exists in many of the other games. could a be a 2D dungeon remade in 3D. The Fire Temple straddles the line. But the Shadow Temple, Forest Temple, Spirit Temple, Deku Tree, Jabu Jabu, Dodonga Cavern, all really immerse me into a place that feels rich with lore.
      tl;dr Ocarina of Time dungeons are so special because they feel like real places that had a reason to exist. Not structures built just to stop Link from getting a macguffin.

    Spirit was always was my favorite temple. The cultural atmosphere, aesthetic, and music. Such that Nintendo would probably not use today. The use the time travel, its lore with the gerudo, meeting Nabooru and learning more about them. Even mechanically with the traps and light puzzles resonate with me. I also think it requires every dungeon item in the inventory which means more diverse puzzle mechanics excluding gear.

    Nabooru will always be my favorite sage (and gerudo in general). The outlier in that she's the only one you don't meet before getting put to 7 year sleep (Well... Ignoring the technicality of the time travel shenanigans), she's formerly the right hand of the main villain which in a series that would more often explore perspectives of characters without the player being present would be a much bigger deal. But it's Zelda, so what we get is good enough. Her ideals line her up to be a more lupin the third kind of thief which i greatly enjoy bringing her to conflict with the big bad. In general, the Gerudo are a very interesting culture in Zelda and home to a surprising number of prominent figures all present in the same game in OoT. Just everything around her is so interesting and i just really like her general personality as well.
    And yeah she's also really hot, which helps.

    It would be nice if the stories delved into maybe more mature themes within the already mature theme; something like hy rule royalty not being perfect and maybe having taken over and pushed out the gerudos and that’s why they revolt, like make a game where Ganon was just trying to save his people and lost himself along the way; to make him and the hylians more round characters

  • @Rainbopagn
    @Rainbopagn 2 года назад +7

    This adds depth to the Ganondorf of WW who discusses his motivations. I wonder if that Ganon recognized what his mothers did and how they affected the Gerudo? This is also why the two victory timeline Ganons act differently after. TP Ganon was never actually defeated so he was still brainwashed by Twinrova.
    I wonder how BOTW2 Ganon will act? I wonder if the Calamity is simply a manifestation of Demise’s hatred mixed with Gabon’s power/his emotion. If my theory is right then that could help place BOTW and AoC in canon. Because AoC’s story is confirmed to be alternate timeline.
    This makes me want to see BOTW Ganon revived and maybe see his as an antihero either righting his past wrongs or helping stop demise.

    • @aidanafuschetto8597
      @aidanafuschetto8597 2 года назад +1

      I totally agree! One of my biggest dreams for the zelda serie is to deepen even more than we saw in WW such an iconic character as Ganondorf, and I'm so happy that I noticed that a lot of people think the same. The latest trailers of Botw 2 showed a particular attention on him, hoping he will be in his human form and why not, whishing a sort of "redemption" or as you said his version as an antihero. So thrilled!

    Great video, but I have to disagree with Kotake and Koume being the Godess of the Sand. They just use the temple as their base, but there's no indication that they built it or tried to be worshipped as a godess.

    • @oriongurtner7293
      @oriongurtner7293 2 года назад +5

      Agreed, and the title ‘Goddess of Sand’ stands for the Goddess of Time
      Going further on that: the temple is waaay older than Twinrova, has items meant for the Hero of Time, and it’s the ONLY temple that strictly requires completion in both the past and future
      It was totally intentional, down to the ‘hourglass figure’ the statue has
      The Goddess of Sand is literally an hourglass in the desert representing both time itself and the Goddess of Time HERself, the final duality

    • @tdl487
      @tdl487 2 года назад +6

      Agreed. I think the theory is long in the past the Gerudo people worshipped the Goddess of Time(Hylia) like all of the other cultures but developed their own representation of her, a.k.a the Goddess of Sand. Koume and Kotake were just the matriarchs of the Gerudo tribe due to their age and magic uses. They stayed in the Spirit Temple and pulled the strings from a far but then raised Ganondorf, taught him dark magic, and declared him the king of their people.

      I always used to take on the Shadow Temple last. But it does not matter much which of them you choose. I always considered the Shadow Temple as the last temple, because of the order of the Medallions on the start screen.

    • @tdl487
      @tdl487 2 года назад +3

      Completing the Shadow Temple first actually makes it easier to beat the Spirit Temple. The Lens of Truth and the Hover Boots make the Spirit Temple a breeze. Granted you can pick whichever you want but the atmosphere and theme of Spirit feels like the intended end.

    You've hit onto something with the duality of the temple and the conflict between the Islamic caliphate and the Byzantines. Particularly since before Constantinople, before the crusades, before Jerusalem fell to Islam the border between Byzantine and the Caliphate in the 700-900s was at Palestine/Jordan where Petra is located. The sun and moon was a good spot. That's cool.
    However a couple of assumptions you've made that haven't been established. Firstly we no very little about the war before Link was born. Ganondorfs army clearly consists of Gerudo but also would include mobiles, stalfos, lizalfos etc. We know at the end that he swears fealty to the King. But did he switch sides at the end or was he always an ally of the King on the surface and was manipulating things behind the scenes? Which two sides were there? We simply don't know.
    Also I think the goddess of sand being Twinrova is a stretch. You've implied that as their lair is behind the head. But they may simply be priestess' facilitating the worship rather than the object. I think the more plausible theory is that the goddess of sand is Din. Who made the red earth. Ganon desires power more than anything else so it would make sense if he was raised esteeming Din above the others. I think it makes sense that all the gerudo worship Din.
    This doesn't mean that Din herself is evil. Just that her worshippers who prize power over everything else are corrupted in that direction. Although the idea that the goddesses aren't benevolent is interesting. They are very infrequently involved in any of the affairs of Hyrule directly. Creation, flooding the world, giving Ganon the Triforce of power (in TP), creating a time-loop (MM). Those are the only times I can think of where the goddesses intervene.
