      I've seen LED taillights on other 79-81s that looked soon much better. Maybe its the tail lens that makes some some of the bulbs dimmer than the others. But some look like they are either not working or missing. Digi-Tails are the ones to get.

    • @keithnoneya
      @keithnoneya 7 лет назад +1

      Yeah I'm on the fence too. I've owned a 74 TA 400 4spd, that I rebuilt from the metal up. I've helped rebuild and paint of few too, including a 70 TA RAIII. I'm not a fan of the LED tail lights at all, that funky hood attached scoop or those wheels. Other than that it looked great and sounded great too. Loved the rear fender flares, i've always thought Pontiac should have done those on all TA's but for some reason they didn't. Thanks for the nice video.
      Best Wishes n Blessings. Keith

  • @GearheadGarden
    @GearheadGarden 8 лет назад +2

    I guess it's really a big deal to have a run of the mill TA with a Borla Exhaust show up in Europe. Considering all the stupid rules some countries like the UK have it's quite a commitment.
    But....that cam is either stock or a mild grind from the lope I hear. I don't believe it's making 450 HP from a Pontiac 400 without a 100HP nitrous shot or a supercharger which may explain that kinda goofy hood and completely wrong hood.
    Nice that someone appreciates it anyway.
    Still don't know how I feel about the LED taillights. I think a socketed LED would have done the job better than "1000 points of light." Kind of makes the car a bit too disco.

      Steve Holsten Actually the 400 orginally was supposed to go up to 650 HP. But it was weakened since GM wanted to make The 400 series much weaker. However to find these engines. It's called the 557 Pontiac Firebird 1967/1975 engine block. Luckily for me I have that block!

      @@remibriere3932 actually you could get both the 400 and the 403 in 79, but all 400 cars that year had the T-10 4 Speed Manual, while 403 cars had the TH350 Automatic (you could never get a stick with the 403 as it was designed for the still bloated 77&78 Oldsmobile Toronado)

    What's up with these fake shakers?

    • @jeffreynolds3848
      @jeffreynolds3848 7 лет назад

      Perspective - for someone who's obviously serious about his car (e.g. the dash), he's decided on different treatment of the shaker. One clue could be the size and height he needed under the hood for his tune of the engine...? Having flipped so many other standard features of his Trans Am, it's not such a big surprise he included the shaker on his 'list'...

    • @jeffreynolds3848
      @jeffreynolds3848 7 лет назад

      Perspective - actually, as I look at the video a second time (...and I had a '79 Olds 403 auto Trans Am in UK from '83-88) he's been quite consistent... Bringing the exhausts toward the centre at the rear instead of the outside; spoilers on the rear of the wheel arches as well as the front; the shaker; the dash, etc. I hope his more subtle re-working of some of the classic Trans Am features start to grow on you as it is with me. I certainly admire what the owner has achieved as an overall package - pretty cool celebration yet updating of a classic and many of it's famous features.

      Speaking of pieces of shit, here you are commenting, +96TAWS6455. Seriously, like about 99% of the parts that are between Chevrolet and Pontiac/Acadia/Asuna products are compatible with one another, and that ALSO includes their engines, not to mention that they are also compatible with Geo and even partner companies that work with GM ALSO share GM parts, such as Suzuki, for instance. Honestly, elitist fuckwits like yourself that pretend to know, let alone think that they are in artificial places of authority that think that they get to dictate to the peons what to think in the automotive world, and woe be to anyone that dares to cross their path, are exactly like the super prissy, stupid basic bitches that will bitch and moan about the insensitivity of a guy that just bought them a pair of jeans from Old Navy or The Gap instead of Banana Republic, never mind that a. all of the jeans that are made by the EXACT SAME FUCKING COMPANY, and b. the only fucking differences that they have on them are the fucking labels that are on the clothing. There is GM and all of its allied companies, such as Isuzu and Suzuki, in a nut shell. Now get something for that period and make some mother fucking sandwiches in the kitchen, okay? Thank you.

    This vid is enough to make a '79 TA purist jump for joy. Another stock 400 ruined! Too bad no T-Tops. A properly restored '79 gets a lot of attention no matter which exhaust system is chosen. Using a Magnaflow cat-back system which sounds very close to stock as opposed to what I believe are these loud, obnoxious and purposely attention-getting incorrectly rear-projecting Pypes is just not necessary. The stock '79 is iconic. No "customization" will improve the automobile and still allow it to be registered and licensed.
