    This is a 10 year old video and it has over 400,000 views on You Tube. I originally posted it just to show my friend. I really did not spend any time editing it. You are right that some of the audio is distracting. If I were posting it today I would have done a better job of editing. Thanks for your comment.

    Tell me, is it unnatural if you get a sudden compulsion to touch and or eat the lava and the recently cooled lava?

    Well hello ppl of 2118, I wonder if y’all are enjoying a new island. It’s May 11, 2018 I’m 56 and if you’re reading this in that year, I’m dead and you’re either watching this or you’re watching this from your couch where this lava took place. Hope you all are well, somewhere out here I now have great great grandchildren I never met.

    Do lava flows like this only occur in the summer?
    I am wondering if the winter cold cools the lava before it can flow very far.

  • @rgonaz
    @rgonaz  12 лет назад

    Lava flows on the Big Island occur all the time, winter, summer it makes no difference. The present eruption has been occurring since 1982 and it just varies in intensity. The actual location also changes over time depending how the lava is flow out of the vent of is the location of the vent changes.

  • @rgonaz

    Actually the park service marked the areas where it was safe to walk so the danger was minimal.

    Hello,
    This is beautiful! Thank you for uploading. I am an art student at the Royal College of Art, and hoping to do a video collage of found footage. I was hoping to use maximum 1min of your footage edited between other material. As this is an student project, I will have no income from it. The outcome would only be shown in college, and of that changed I would inform you. Would that be okay? Let me know.
    Kindly,
    Eleni

    lava is not as hot as people would think. Popular beliefs has it that it can melt anything as soon as it touches. Thats not the case at all. You can actually step in and out of it with only 2nd degree burns. You can fully recover from that.

    • @tylerwells3975
      @tylerwells3975 9 лет назад +3

      exactly so who did you hear the fact from that 2000 degrees of heat only does 2nd degree burns ive had 3rd degree on the top of my thighs from mowing for 8 hours with short shorts on and i have had 2nd degree burns on my back and i got nerve endings damage i highly dought that stepping in lava even for a milisecond will give you only 2nd degree more like melt the skin right off
