I’m going to beat my addiction, and when I do i will come back to this song. Because as I play this song now, I know this is as low as I can go. And when I’m fixed and healed I will complete the cycle.
Good luck. Remember, no one sets out to be an addict. Just sometimes things hurt too bad not to use substances to survive. The shame added to by the criminal status of drugs is something addicts just dont need.
The young woman looking at the urn in her passenger seat really hit home for me. I lost my son last year still a baby. I listened to this song before. But now i always think of my son when i hear it. The world can be cruel to even the most innocent of souls. I don't believe in much. But i know where ever he is. When I listen to this song and think of him. I know he's alright.
Even in the darkest of situations God is never far away. We just need to turn away from the darkness and turn towards the light of God's love and mercy.
I lived in L.A. for nine years, and moved with my family to the Sacramento area last December. This video brings back so many memories, and I see myself back there, the place where I bought my first car, earned my PhD, got married, lost a baby, and watched another one be born. It didn't really hit me until I saw this video just how much I miss it, and how much this big, beautiful, crazy, wonderful city full of freaks and weirdos never made me feel unwelcome. I was born and raised in Missouri, but L.A. will always be my home.
In 1996 Sir Elton purchased a large condo in Atlanta and I used to see him a few times in the parking garage or the elevator. I’ve not seen him in a couple years, because he was barely able to walk 4-5 years ago. But he’s still very active in philanthropy and the ATL. He is a righteous man who loves the world.
He wrote a couple of albums inspired by where he was living during that time. The one he did with *Leon Russell* in particular is very good. All good tracks but "Gone to Shiloh" a stand out written about the American civil war. 👍
Elton is a giant in music history and I'll never forget when I was in NYC in 1969 and heard his "Your Song" for the first time on WABC NY with Cousin Brucie. Now 74 so glad that I have lived so much of my life with the Elton/Bernie Taupin team and some of the greatest songs ever made.
This video does an amazing job of capturing how this timeless song can range from exuberantly happy to devastatingly sad by looking at one random day for various people in Los Angeles. Great job whoever thought of it, it’s absolutely perfect for the song.
Man aren’t some of us showing our age but a masterpiece last forever,I was 10 and still remember it from back then, I lost it then found it again! Tiny Dancer 💃.
I took my daughter to see Elton John when she was 7. Floor center seats. Elton stood up from the piano and looked straight into her eyes. Everyone around us saw it, they were cheering for her! She waved and Elton waved back. She is now 22 and that is one of her favorite stories, she asks me to tell her friends and when we are alone I tell her she is my tiny dancer!!
well that's kinda the point of comments weirdo, nobody HAS to ask for someone to feel the need to comment. otherwise the section would be called Answers@@rectime1333
This video is such a treasure, focusing on a day in the life of LA California and a variety of different people going through different experiences. Genius and beautiful! Instead of choreography and visuals of the artist singing this focuses on our humanity and yet somehow even amplifies the depth and beauty of this awesome song! What a great video!
It works so well because it hits so close to home. In some way we can all relate to these characters, these stories, these pains, and great moments in our lives... And though our stories might not overlap, we are all passing through it together
The director/creator is Max Weiland. Despite being released in 1971, Elton John never released an official video of this song. So in honor of Elton and Bernie's 50 years of friendship, they held a contest in 2017 where fans submitted videos. This was the one they chose. Here is a link for the making of the video and Elton's reaction to it. ruclips.net/video/Wnxx1_BeWs4/видео.html
love the manson cameo, wanna marry the cute lady with the urn, and the woman portraying the alcoholic trying not to break her sobriety brings me to tears.
This was my grandmother's favourite song to listen to. I would hear it whenever we would visit her. After a long 3 year battle with cancer, she sadly passed away. Her doctor only gave her 3 months. At her memorial, we played this song when we let her balloons go. But today, I was sitting in the car with my dad, and this song came on. We both just sat in silence. I only realised today that certain songs could hold onto some power without anyone knowing. I'll think about this for the rest of my life.

In the early 70's everyone in my class loved David Cassidy, The Osmonds, The Jacksons but I was always the odd one out as I loved Elton John. This is probably my favourite of his. I realised I love Piano music whatever genre and its why I'm starting piano lessons tomorrow - I'm 62 years old!😍

Crazy this is almost 50 years old. 11 years older then me, and yet it still holds up to this day as an absolute masterpiece. Seems like there was a period of time where there were artists that just won't ever be replicated. There's just a feel to it that is so timeless.
What they say mid, sixties through to the early eighties best pop and rock.music ever. Then came the demise, open neck shirts with gold and silver, disco.
My mom sang this song on the American idol game for the PS2 to me all the time. It holds such a special place in my heart. My mom passed away in 2018 and everytime I hear this song I just go back to the place where she was singing so happily in such bliss. I miss her.
I remember the first time I heard this song I was experiencing explosive diarrhea but was also constipated and I was pushing extremely hard but nothing would come out and I was in pain and then the part of the song where he sings hold me closer I kind of relaxed and then my gut shifted and there was a sudden explosion of gas and liquid poo and the feeling was so relieving and really went with the song perfectly I was so elated as I wiped and the song came to a close I will never forget it.
I wasnt even born when this came out 3 yrs later i popped out but it doesnt sound that old at all and it still wipes the floor with anything made since
When I was younger i hated this guy, now I'm 42 and realize this was the best kind of music, I wish i could go back in time and appreciate it the way i do now.
When it first dropped in the 70s.., what a awesome music era. America had its issues as always but that era was amazing! This song was huge the summer it was on radio. But Dude..., keep Rockin’🤘🤘🏾
@@ddesign63 , it happens to all. Music and artist we don't like in our youth have a different meaning when we are older and we began to appreciate the great artist that they are. As for me, I've always loved Elton John's music, beginning in 1971 or 1972 (I think) when I first heard Crockodile Rock on the radio. I was only 10 or 11 years old and got my money and headed to the record store to buy the 45 rpm vinyl record. Boy... what a beautiful era that was.
Congratulations! Be strong. Reading your words made me tear up, too. Lost friends to drugs/alcohol. "Hold me closer, tiny dancer. Count the headlights on the highway."
Rocketman is one of the best biopics ever made. Saw it today in the UK and the tears were streaming from the middle to the end. A very raw and real performance from Taron.
This song... It lives deep inside of me. From the first time it was released. I'm 62. It's still alive inside of me. Even after I'm gone from this earth. It will still live inside of my soul. Tiny Dancer!!
I was 7 Year's old when this song came out now I'm 57 (still singing along) and a major shout out to the video and the gal standing in front of the liquor store but she doesn't go in she's back in her car holding on to her sobriety coin and instead of drinking she starts crying, I've been there! Last March I had 26 Year's sober off alcohol so watching her go through it my heart cry's out for her!! And for the best video of all time the award goes to Elton John and The groovy people of LA
That part with the woman at the liquor store was the part I related too. That was me after my father passed. 25 years sober and I wanted a drink so bad. So I just sat in my car and reflected. Never went in the store and still sober. This video in some way relates to all of us. I wish they would do this more with some of " the classics"
Patrick Heckman I don't even know who you are, but I'm so happy you had that kind of self control and I'm very happy you're still sober. My dad was an alcoholic for decades but had been sober for almost 10 years now. Cheers brother. Stay strong
Patrick Heckman Hey man. Hope you’re still sober and the thought of your dad brings a smile to your lips before it brings a tear to your eye. Mine’s been gone for seven years, I still miss him every day. Keep his spirit alive!
Love this song. This was me and my boyfriends song we use to dance to it. So when he died his parents asked me what I’d like for the service I told them I wanted Elton John’s Tiny Dancer to be played with pictures of us on a screen and they did. I cried all day.

My mum was a seamstress and a prima ballerina in the 70s...she was friends with folks who knew Elton and would always joke that perhaps she inspired this. True or not, I like to think that is true. She passed away at 49 15+ years ago, but I still cry happily when I hear this song. It will always be about her to me.
I feel for the red-haired lady who had to pawn everything. And now she's resigned to sitting alone in the dark with no place to live. Also, near the end, the lady in her car, crying her eyes out.

This is a man that deserves an MTV award, he managed to capture every single damn piece of humanity in one video. Im a big man, but cry by the end because it's all there.
To convey the brilliance of this song in a music video was no easy task but god damn they knocked this out of the park. So many emotions at once.

I’m going to beat my addiction, and when I do i will come back to this song. Because as I play this song now, I know this is as low as I can go. And when I’m fixed and healed I will complete the cycle.
Hope to hear from ya soon! 💪
Good luck. Remember, no one sets out to be an addict. Just sometimes things hurt too bad not to use substances to survive. The shame added to by the criminal status of drugs is something addicts just dont need.
Good luck!

I'm sincerely sorry for your loss. 😞
I was born and raised in Missouri, but L.A. will always be my home.
lucketthistory xx
i feel that way about Key West florida
There's definitely something special about LA
I live in Sacramento 😳
Good job on getting that PhD though
In 1996 Sir Elton purchased a large condo in Atlanta and I used to see him a few times in the parking garage or the elevator. I’ve not seen him in a couple years, because he was barely able to walk 4-5 years ago. But he’s still very active in philanthropy and the ATL. He is a righteous man who loves the world.
He wrote a couple of albums inspired by where he was living during that time. The one he did with *Leon Russell* in particular is very good. All good tracks but "Gone to Shiloh" a stand out written about the American civil war. 👍
When I die, I think I'll want this played at the wake/memorial service. It may make people cry, they may need to. But I hope they sing.

Yes, without a doubt Elton is one of the greatest rock stars in history.

Who cares? He makes me feel so happy when I listen to his music and that is the important thing. And... uh, I'm gay too.

God, what a great video. I can't watch it without tearing up.
This video does an amazing job of capturing how this timeless song can range from exuberantly happy to devastatingly sad by looking at one random day for various people in Los Angeles. Great job whoever thought of it, it’s absolutely perfect for the song.

I believe that's what Bernie Taupin was going for when he wrote the song. I love this video.
It works so well because it hits so close to home. In some way we can all relate to these characters, these stories, these pains, and great moments in our lives... And though our stories might not overlap, we are all passing through it together
Peace.
It's good .but Elton on the piano is better.
this is the best song video ever. whoever created it deserves a massive raise. sublime storytelling.
Bernie Taupin wrote it, he's wrote all Eltons songs
Love the song but the video doesn't fit for me and got boring halfway thru.
Great song. TERRIBLE video.

Haha I wondered if that was Manson.
Me too!!! I keep telling her to just hold on!!!
Thought I was the only one who noticed Elton had Marilyn in this video of all things. Lol.
Sitting here, alone at home, crying. This song, this footage, this life-it all really touched me.
I feel it too. Relating to a few scenes. Emotional. But, good stuff. Hope your day is wonderful!
