    2020 marks the 75th anniversary of the ending of WWII. WWII was a disaster for whole of humanity. I wanted to make a short summary of the war using films about differents events during the war. I have seen many videos which show scenes from the war in chronological order, but no video that tries to retell how the war developed. Keep in mind that this is not a list about the best WWII movies. I dont really rate "Pearl Horbor for example, but the movie had some good footage about events I wanted to include in this montage, like the speech were the President ask the congress to declare war.
    My original idea was to show the different footage in "chronological order", but in order to make the movie "flow" a bit better I had to arrange them in different phases of the war. For example I used a clip about a German officer saying they have surrendered after a clip from the Hiroshima bombing even tho Germany surrendered before Japan, but I felt it soothed better to the music.
    I do not claim to be an expert, but I think I have managed to include many of the most important events during the war. I have tried to show the war from different perspectives. I have for example used 4 different movies/tv show that put the ordinary German soldier in a more sympathic light. I have used films from USA, Great Britain, Germany, Russia, Japan, China, Norway, Denmark, Italy, Estonia and Finland and used 6 different languages. I only understand the Scandinavian languages and English, so I have had faith in the subtitles, and cant varify if the translation is 100 percent correct.
    Here are some of the events I have included from WWII
    Phase 1 - The outbrake of the war
    Japan Invades China
    German invasion of Poland
    GB declares war on Germany
    Germany invades Denmark, Norway, Netherlands and France
    Sinking of Blucher
    Evacuation from Dunkirk
    Phase 2 - the darkest hour
    Battle of Britain
    The intelligence war
    The submarine war
    Operation Barbarossa and the German invasion of the Sovie Union
    Battle of Moscow
    Battle of Sevastopol
    Finnish continuation war (Finlands invasion of Russia)
    Battle of Stalingrad
    Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor
    Phase 3 - The turn around
    USA declare war on Japan & Germany
    Allied invasion of North Africa
    Russia defeats Germany at Stalingrad
    The pacific war
    Allied landing on D-day Normandy
    Battle of Tannenberg line
    The resistance movement in occupied Europe (Max Manus)
    Battle of Okinawa
    Phase 4 - The the consequences of the war
    Italian losses at El Alamein
    The Eastern front
    The Holocaust
    The Estonian front, brothers against brothers
    Germany surrenders
    Japan surrenders

    On November 23, 1945 two huge men entered a ward smelling of hospital musk. An eye sunken starving young man looks up to these new visitors and expects the worst. They had weapons he had never seen before. Armed clearly to fulfil a mission as their silhouettes came closer to his bed. Maybe they were here to finally end his long suffering as the torturous back pain continued to keep from a long night of sleep. The young man only felt a great relief knowing his time had finally come.
    Something catches the corner of his eye. The markings of the pouches around the one of the belts of the men. Instead of Japanese characters he saw english alphabet markings for once. English letters for the first time could only mean one thing. His heart began to flutter with great anticipation. The letters made an acronym. He quickly blinked to refocus his eyes to see clearly at these letters. He gently lifted his head with the little strength he had left. The men got closer until his finally saw

    My Uncle Tom was liberated by United States Marines, he was a Bataan Defender of the 200th New Mexico Coastal Artillery Regiment and survived the Bataan Death March. The Marines cracked open a small milk box and had him drink milk for the first time in 4 long years. That was the first time he cried with absolute happiness.

    Watching the scenes of the start of the war makes me sick how people joke about a ww3 and all these other wars going on. In a weird way i feel like my generation deserves to go to war to change our look on everything

    • @SalmonFeet
      @SalmonFeet Год назад +1

      The common people of the time most likely did the same. Its normal to joke about very scary and serious things like WW3 or nuclear war or at thne time ww2 because they were scared and they were trying to mae light of the situation. They didnt want to live in fear so they joked, they tried to laugh about it but when the time came there was no more laughing

      Geopolitical tensions, military alliances, economic strife etc. there are so many contributing factors to the 2nd World War.

    • @davidward3848
      @davidward3848 2 года назад

      @@bryanitza-chulopez1658 exactly. To say "Germany bad" is retarded and not understand all the other factors leading up to the war. For example the French to some extent still had it out for the Germans because of the Franco-Prussian War. The French were more frothing at the mouth during WW1, but it still existed leading up to and during WW2.

      Who's the naive one here?

    • @Queensverdant
      @Queensverdant Год назад +39

      No, sry man totally disagree, Hitler is 100% guilty for the crimes and cruelty which happened in WW2. The war may has emerged from a bad handling of WW1’s aftermath, but Hitler is the absolute villain of the Second World War. He first conquered the hearts of the humiliated Germans and then abused his power to do crimes no one could have ever imagined. You probably knew all of this, but remember that there’s no way to take any guilt of Hitler
