I went from records to tapes, on to CDs, and now I'm back collecting records again 🙂 I had a short stent with 8 track tapes as a kid and when I was having to drive my mom's Grand Marquis in the early 1980s. It only had an 8-track player. I've just recently been trying to get my collection of tapes and bring them back to my house. I just sold my dad's house down in Houston and his house up in Fort Worth and my tapes were quite difficult to find where they had been left in his homes. In fact I only found a fraction of them. I wish I could find the rest of them but now it's too late since the homes have been sold. I'm legally blind now and that didn't help any in searching. But I enjoy all of those media formats and I even have two reel to reel recorders that were my dads. After I get the McIntosh system look that, possibly recapped, and then I set up the Acoustic Research AR-3 speakers, I'll be jamming again! I will definitely be hooking up the tape deck, for cassettes, the Roberts reel to reel recorder as well, and my old Onkyo CD player. I've already got the extra Dual turntable that will be hooked up ready to go as well 🙂
    Brian in Fort Worth 🎶

I’m 43 now but became a wannabe dead head in about 1993-94ish. They went on tour and came to my hometown when I was 15. My mom let me and some friends camp out at the mall on the sidewalk overnight to wait for tickets to go on sale. Ticketmaster was inside Parisian (or maybe it was Pizitz) and it was so much fun! The next morning I had my first job interview and Barnes and Noble bookstore and I wreaked of weed and was still tripping. I didn’t get the job BUT I have some incredible memories from that experience.

They Did it there ownway, you cant compare them to anyone,no other band. They the dead ( jerry and the gang )where the outlaws of the rock n roll world. They played what they loved, and for the deadheads they were a part of a big peaceful family.I never seen the dead play never meet the cats, but i will tell you my dead friends i feel very close to them! The grateful dead have made me into a peaceful loving man.I used to be something else craved violence and full of hate. Then my ma (mum) brought me Europe 72 on record. And im new man,yes and i still love getting loaded as fuck.Peace and love and respect to the deadheads.

Same here, the Dead created a happiness in me I never knew I had and it’s the only band that I can listen to on a horrible day and the music actually makes me smile.
I just watched Long Strange Trip on Prime and couldn’t stop smiling for all 6 episodes.

Man,that dude Mickey seemed cool as a fan, when he joined the Dead. Then I seen a clip of him around 1987or 88'.He had bowl haircut, talked very robotic. At the end of one his statements ,he looked into the camera and said, it's bad form. His look, his talk and his vibe was one of a KaReN..From cool to KaReN..Dang,Mick I wish I would not have seen your later clip.He was my favorite drummer until that day.

I hate them because I have a friend that was put in there for one reason only ! He was better then this cops son being no. 2 so when he saw a chance he put him away ! He fell down while running so he had his 2 nd concussion which made him look like he was screwd up so that cop said he thought he was on bath salts ! All lies ! Me + his mom come together to talk about it but we knew we couldn’t get him out ! So fucking sad plus he was half black ! 😥🥲😢❤️🐇🐰

In the Dark is my favorite album

    • @joesmith2604
      @joesmith2604 Год назад +3

You gotta try out their live shows…
You can’t go wrong with any concert from 77!
Check out “To Terrapin” or Cornell 1977 that Cornell show is mind blowing and that’s the best most funky version of “Dancing in the Streets” I have ever heard!
Another great concert to start off with is Dicks Picks Vol. 8.
But if “In the Dark” is your jam check out:
-Road Trips, Vol. 2 No. 1 Live 9/1/90
-Formerly Known as the Warlocks Live in Hampton, VA, October 1989
Also I don’t mean to sound like or assume that you don’t know anything about the Grateful Dead…I don’t know as much as it sounds like.
I know I shouldn’t have but I assumed you are kind of starting out on The Grateful Dead because you mentioned one of their studio albums as a favorite.
If you have the want and the time please check out Live Grateful Dead if you haven’t already.
For me listening to The Grateful Dead live is the tops for me.
It doesn’t matter what mood I am in I can always find a show to fit my mood.
The Grateful Dead never repeated their set lists and every concert is different and each year is different and if you listen enough you can even hear the band changing and evolving their sound in different months.
My ex girlfriend was a real bummer and when you are a bummer most cool stuff doesn’t make sense.
She could never understand The Grateful Dead…”I don’t understand how you can listen to the same songs over and over and over again”
I told her I rarely ever listen to the same song.
She just couldn’t wrap her mind around The Grateful Dead and definatley not The Dead Live.
For all of us Dead Heads out here we get it!!!

Let’s get things straight- I saw these guys several hundred times, this myth of a bad night is ridiculous-sure maybe a few miscues, maybe someone is sick, maybe equipment problems- but those were isolated and might effect a song or short period of time-but NEVER a whole show 2) 20 minutes of feedback? Long time Head as well and I'd say I saw some objectively bad shows along the way, especially after Brent died. JGB shows were better than the Dead post 90 imo. All shows had a moment or 2 of fabulous, but I did walk away from a few thinking it was pretty flat and low energy
