Soldering a Band Ring and Raising the Fine Silver

After the ring has been pierced, the upper and lower edges beveled, and the band has been annealed and formed, it's time to prep for soldering.
I show you filing the butt joint, soldering using a third hand tool, filing the joint for solder blending and removal. To make a silver ring evenly colored, we do a process called 'depletion gilding,' or 'raising the fine silver'. It brings out a nice, thin, powdery-matte layer of fine silver to the ring's surface.
