They talk about not changing & "being stuck in the past"...they're not alone!! I am totally 70's & 80's & refuse to change!!! I totally support you, America!!!

With me - just turned 68 here - I got stuck in the late sixties and early, early seventies. America's "Homecoming" LP was just great, along with the rest, of course but "Homecoming" was my favorite. They seemed to bring it all together on this one.

So glad these guys are still alive! They look great! I am same age as Gerry and I expect/hope to be around awhile! The music I grew up with was absolutely a blessing! Great interview!

Always grateful for America for sharing their beautiful music. I was only 11 years old when I first heard them. They’re the reason why I became interested to learn playing a guitar on my own. My ultimate dream is to watch their concert. Hopefully they’re going to have a concert here in Canada. Love America forever! ❤️❤️❤️

Sad no mention of the incomparable, humble Dan Peek. You cannot tell the whole story of the early band, America, without talking about Dan. God bless Dan Peek.

When does a 15 minute pre show interview become a place to tell the whole story of anything? Seriously Wayne, your presumptive comment needs push back, and I'm glad to do it.

With you on that Wayne. In passing would not hurt. Although I don’t think it was a slight. A lot of time has passed since 1979. His high part in the harmony as well as occasional lead vocal added so much to their sound. Many of the earlier songs were written with three parts in mind. Love Gerry and Dewey, but Dan’s voice is missed, at least when singing on some of the old stuff. I am happy they are still healthy, doing well, and sounding good. We miss you Dan. Gone too soon.

Wonderful interview, thank you. My dad was stationed at Lakenheath at approximately the same time and married a british lady also. Never met any of the guys, but have friends who did. I went to school in Newmarket. I've been playing America songs since the 70's and even won a talent show doing horse with no name in '73. lol. No band like them before or since. I've always felt a connection with them even if I've never met any of 'em. Dunno why. Big part of my youth. Thanks again.

I'm an Air force brat with a british mum also. Born in England, stationed at Lakenheath
. I was back in the states by the 70s. I was in England when the Beatles started out and saw them hit big in America when I was back in the US. WOW how things change.

A teen in the late 70s and early 80s... living in Santa Rosa, America was my FAVORITE band so we'd drive down to San Francisco Bay Area EVERY year for their concerts.Married and working in 1991... living in Galveston, my wife and I went to Houston for a multiband concert, and at the end they joined The Beach Boys to sing "California Girls" with a throng of bikinied women running on stage to dance.Married with children in 2000...in Dallas they performed at the opening of the annual Plano Balloon Festival --ONE MILE from our home so my kids got to see my favorite all-time band from so long ago. After 25 years of chasing them around, they'd come to us. :..)

America....the soundtrack of my life. I was born in '58. Well written songs and melodies. I find there unique voices compliment each other in harmony. Similar to Jimmy Seals and Dash Crofts. I got to see them live in the mid 2000's and it was terrific!! What to see them at least once more!!

Among the groovy moments in my musical journey was when I could comfortably play the opening chord sequence and reprise on Sister Golden Hair by America. I was just getting a handle on barre chords from a Steely Dan Pretzel Logic songbook (Riki Don't Lose That Number) and understood the progression in Sister. Matter of fact, I'm going to go play Sister right now and see what other America songs emerge from the smoky past.

It is sad to see that Peek isn't mentioned. But his songs are being brought up. Still, there were some pretty unusual feelings between them. It shouldn't be surprising that they are trying to stay away from that missing part. RIP Dan! You wrote some of their great tunes. They covered California Revisted on Hourglass.

Just like Chicago's first album, America's first album was their best by far. It's okay. The other albums could combine their best to another equivalent. Donkey Jaw and Three Roses by Dan Peek on that first album were awesome, the latter with an almost Spanish rasquello strum, or could be played that way.
