  • In this video I talk about how to approximate the Lasso Fill tool in Photoshop. Which we must do because... PHOTOSHOP STILL DOESN'T HAVE ONE. Said while shaking fist. Gritting teeth. Hair on fire.
    We can't match the smooth painting experience the Lasso Fill offers. However, we do gain some added functionality. How about a Lasso fill with that makes... infinitely editable vector paths for our shapes and shadows? Which also inherent all visual effects through any changes we make?
    Check out the video if that sounds useful to you!

    best direct advice for this and i love the cross information from csp and photoshop

      Yeah, same here. CSP is essentially equal to Photoshop for just general art making, IMHO. I prefer CSP for a lot of stuff lately.

    I'm so happy to have come across this video. THANK YOU this saves me so much time on cell shading in photoshop!
    Also I wanted to say your final result came out awesome. How were you using "levels" and "hsl" at 16:30 for the sky reflection? I think it's so interesting how many layer styles used for the rendering. I'm so use to using these more for photography and retouching I never thought to see these tools utilized for painting the way you did it!

      You're welcome! Yeah, I use a ton of photo editing features. Helps the painting have more variety and subtle tones. For the sky, I used an adjustment layer at the top of the soldier's clipping stack. So it effects everything related to the soldier. I tinted everything to be a lot more blue. Adjustment layers come with a mask attached to them, so I filled that mask with black-- which hides the effect completely. Then I grabbed a brush and painted white into the mask of the adjustment layer where ever I wanted ambient blue skylight on the soldier. White on the mask reveals the adjustment layers effect, which "paints" the blue tint into our view.

    The fill can also be changed in the properties tab under window > properties

    • @SourPlanet
      @SourPlanet  Год назад +1

      Yes, that's true. I didn't even think of it because I do often lay in flats then start editing the palette by just double tapping each layer.
      I've been exploring the properties dialogue a lot lately. Some powerful tools showing up there! Especially on raster layers.

      You're very welcome. I saw your video of Blueless Bird. It's great! I listen to the original in the mornings over coffee, chatting with my son before school. Such a great song and welcome coincidence.

    Around 16:59 how are you selecting and drawing the shapes for multiple things?

    • @SourPlanet
      @SourPlanet  Год назад

      That's the standard Photoshop Lasso Tool. I'm holding shift so that each time I start a new selection it just adds that selection to all the old selections too. You can also toggle this behavior permanently via the toolbar just below the File menu at the top of the Photoshop window (to the right of the home icon just below the File menu). You can also hold Alt to subtract from the selection.
