I swear, everything portnoy is involved in is great music. While I miss him in DT, all these projects he has been a part of have made some incredible music.

I agree, I love Winery Dogs and Sons of Apollo. Highly, highly recommend Sons of Apollo live with the Psychotic Symphony, just watched it last week, blew my frigging mind. Of course I recognized everyone in the band and knew it was going to be great but not as great as it was. Bumblefoots playing is a revelation, didn’t know he was THAT good. Fret less guitar!!!! Jeez

This band is a perfect blend of musical soul and technical brilliance. All three albums are stellar. Their live performances are really special. Musical excellence all around.

Neal Morse and Mike Portnoy have made an album a year together on various projects since 2000. They really have contributed to what I would say is a new golden age of progressive rock.

It's pretty hard to not agree with that. I came into Neal Morse pretty late but once I did, I kept uncovering new layers, first it was NMB then I found out about Transatlantic...that was a whole year of peeling that onion...loving every second...especially their last album...then I finally got into Flying Colors. I felt robbed, I wished I had listened to it a LOT sooner. Really it still just blows me away.

@@TheCountofToulouse I can recommend the early Spock´s Beard albums with Neal Morse...well, also the later without him, but it´s like two different things.

I've listened to some of the SB stuff. The FIRST song I ever heard by SB was "There was a Time" from the Octane album, which was POST Neal. Curiously, I still like that song, playlist stuff. In fact, that album was the FIRST link in the Morse chain, my buddy who gave me the album (because his record club sent TWO copies on accident) told me about the whole Neal Morse saga and that he was on his own. I think he gave me "One" or 'Testimony, I can't recall and at the time, I couldn't get into it.
I have almost all that stuff now and Morse wound up dominating my playlist in one form or another. He's a brilliant writer and seems to have a DEEP well.

First time hearing. I like it. Another one of my to do list bands. You have reacted to a number of prog bands that have been recommended to me and are on my list but I just haven’t gotten to them until now. Flying Colors, Transatlantic, Porcupine Tree, Liquid Tension Experiment, Haken. Most of then have Portnoy or Petrucci involved. That’s probably how I came to hear of them.
