This is actually very cool, I had no idea this existed. I use Photo primarily to clean up/color correct photography, but will have to give the mixer brushes a go, even if it's just for fun.

Great stuff as always, Trent. I completely forgot this feature existed!

Great topic. I hope you can introduce the other types of brushes in future.

Great video, I didn't know about the single layer for using the brush now I know why I couldn't get it to work sometimes. Its great for creating painterly effects.

Great video. Can you do this in Affinity Designer?

Hi @donnacline6618! While Affinity Designer does have a paint brush (in the Pixel Persona), it does not have a Paint Mixer Brush. However, it does have a Smudge Brush which can do *some* of the same effects as a Paint Mixer Brush.

The mixer brush 8s very handy when doing frequency separation. This was, unfortunately, nearly unusable in Affinity until they added the auto clean. Now, it is a breeze.

Thanks for the info, Craig! I'll have to do some more research on frequency separation and make a video about it.

Hey, what method do you think is best used to blend colors in a digital painting? I am new to Affinity.

Hi @diggydretv! I do think the Paint Mixer Brush is one to try, but I recommend experimenting with all the different brush types and see which ones you like. Perhaps just try some sphere shading exercises to get a feel for how they work.
      Thanks for watching!

With auto clean set doesn't work when strength is set to 100%. Must be below that. This is a known bug. Affinity is working on it maybe after v 2.5.2

Thanks for the update @katm1884! I did not know about that bug.

is there any way to use it like photoshop mixer brush ? the one that picks up entire patch of selected area and repeats it on brush

    • @TechnicallyTrent

Hi @doaflamingo3713, thanks for the question. I'm not exactly sure how it works in Photoshop. But in Affinity Photo, if you have the Paint Mixer brush selected, you can click the button up top to "Clean Brush". Then you can click on an area in your design and it will pick up some of that paint. Hope this helps!

Pls help me wit mixer brush
    techniques

Hi @sajorjalloh9073, one practice technique I recommend is playing with the different brushes using the mixer brush and doing sphere shading exercises. That can really help you learn how the brushes work. Also, if you have a tablet with a pressure pen, it is easier than a mouse. Hope this helps!
