I was not successful in starting it in serial mode, I made the cable null and tested it with putty and this application of yours. I'm almost giving up on recovering. It simply does not transfer data between ports in bridged mode. It was working normally.
If you look up the manual, that'll probably be more help to get it factory reset. For the ip though, unless the admin changed it, it'll probably be 192.168.2.1. OR it may be in DHCP mode and if you connect it to your router, it'll then assign an ip that you can then get from your routers ip list
@@Mk5mod0 i might just throw it out, someone on reddit told me how to reset the password but it still needs a password, one of the ports on this is dead and the bearings in the fans are gone
Thanks a bunch for this tutorial. I got it setup the first time.
Awesome! Very happy to hear that it helped you out!

I have dell powerconnect 5524p switch and I forgot ip and password, so can you help me to reset it to factory setting?

If you want to go from managed to unmanaged, press the reset for like 4-5 seconds and the switch will go into unmanaged.
So, I need both a null modem and a usb serial. Can I substitute them for a usb rs232?
You need the null modem cable. The usb serial adapter was the only way I could do it. If you have a serial port on your computer that will work
Ayyyeee finally a new upload 😂
I didn't realize you had to hit reset and do not hold for more than 7 seconds but say 5 seconds... THEN I started to boot in managed mode - ARGH!!
how do i reset a 5012?
Sorry I wish I could help but I’m not familiar with that switch or that family of switches.
