World of Warships Blitz - USS Texas review

- I've been spending some time recently grinding through honour missions, and I came across a ship again that I've had in my port for ages - the Texas, might have been one of my early premiums, actually. She's got quite an interesting history, and actually still exists - maybe one day I get to visit.

And today she is the Flagship of the Texas State Fleet...it's true, those folks have a fleet🤗
Everyone should have one ;)
Favourite ship in Legends. Favourite ship in Blitz.
I love the texas, and it's not because I was born in Texas lmao. The ship as an long and amazing history. She really is a great ship :P
I came across a story where the Texas crew trained merchant gunners, and one ship was able to defend itself against a German sub due to their training. Leaving that one for a video of its own one day.
I was born in new York and moved to. Boston noe
@@fortune3911 I was born, raised, and lived texas, but I moved to DC not to long ago
Its a he.
Definitely make your way down to Texas some time to check her out! (As well as all the Texas history here)
One day I might be able to do a museum ship tour. There are quite a few of them.
But it’s gonna be a bit sooner cuz of quarantine.
Currently, I can't even travel to another state here, let alone internationally. Future plans.
You want increased traverse speed, not turn time. So that camo should be fine. Traverse speed is the degrees per second, so higher is tighter turn
That's an interesting point. The camo increases the traverse speed, and you're right, that should make for a tighter turn (5.2 deg/s to 5.41 deg/s). At the same time, the "turn time" increases from 10.7s to 11.12s.
Now, what does "turn time" actually mean. We know that the rudder shift mods decrease the time it takes between straight ahead and full turn, but don't affect the actual traverse speed. The turn time gets reduced by the fact that you reach the maximum traverse more quickly. What then does the "turn time" measure? A turn to what? If we multiply the traverse speed and the turn time, we get, presuming instant rudder shift, 5.2 * 10.7 = 55.64 degrees vs 5.41 * 11.12 = 60.16 degrees. That doesn't make much sense, since turn time should be the normalised metric to compare - it's not that we turn further in the same amount of time, we should have been turning a particular angle, e.g. 90 degrees, in the given time.
The turn time decrease by the rudder shift modules makes sense to me, but the turn time _increase_ by achieving better traverse doesn't match. What am I missing?
@@FunandGameswithTerry Since it's not in the wiki we can only guess. My thinking is that traverse speed is how tight the turn is by degrees/second and turn time is the time it takes the rudder to swing from the far one side to other. So if you increase the traverse speed the rudder has to swing farther to accomplish that to make the turn tighter. That means the ark of the rudder has increased side to side and there for the turn time or rudder shift time increases. And that's also why the traverse acceleration reduces turn time but doesn't effect traverse speed. Just a hypothesis.
Ahhhh, turn time of the rudder, not the ship _facepalm_
That makes a lot of sense. I'll do some research, but that sounds likely
Yes! Glad to see this one. I got the black Texas and it’s ok. But looks super cool.
I know, they're pretty awesome looks-wise, but decidedly average in gameplay (same goes for Arkansas).
Make a review about west Virginia plz!👍
I've got the black texas and i didn't even try to go for mobility it was point less bc its mobility was absolutely horid
I haven't checked, but the stats should be rather similar. It's tier 5, so you can dodge most torps by simply stopping (with the engine module)
gooood
Nice!!
I think max traverse speed on the star skin means increasing the speed that the ship turns, which actually reduces the turn time since it is going faster. Idk I might be wrong
It's a bit weird in the description - it increases the traverse speed, but for some reason, also the turn time, which doesn't make sense for me. I'll report back if I figure it out.
@@FunandGameswithTerry Yea it does seem strange
I absolutely love my black Texas with the historic camo way over the New York . And I do way better with the Texas which is probably all in my head lol. Which the Black Texas gives sonar.... which brings another question why doesn’t US battleships get sonars but the Germans do ? As always love the in-depth history with the awesome in game ship info an play.
I have yet to get the Texas, and I really do want more to mid to high tier American premium BB’s like the Texas, Arizona, and West Virginia. However the one major critique I have with all US battleships below tier VIII North Carolina is that they are so dang sloooowwww!! The guns are hard hitting and AA is decent, but other than that they are easy prey for destroyers, HE spamming cruisers, and faster battleships.
It's historically accurate, the "standard battleships" were backwards compatible, such that newer ones would sail in line with older ones, so instead of making them quicker, they added armour.
In-game, it's about positioning. They're strong in holding a space, but not so good in relocating when the battle demands it. Don't discount their secondaries when it comes to DDs, but yes, they have their limitations.
Secondaries on them are numerous, but if viewed individually, they are very weak. Not so weak but not in the competitive side.
Great video, Terry!
What do you think about the T8 Japanese Premium DD Asashio? I mean... Deep Water Torps and 12km range? On a Japanese DD? What the hell 😳
I got Black Texas. Didn't bother with mobility. Went with gun traverse and the protection for the last 2 modules. 24% torpedo damage reduction.
Theirs a Yellow Rose in Texas, that i am going to see, no other soldier knows her, no soldier known to me, you can talk about your Clementine and Sing of Rosalie, but the Yellow Rose of Texas is the only girl for me!
Didn't expect that you're playing in Asia Server.
My press account is on Asia, my personal one on NA
Black texas 🤗
When will we see Iowa and Montana videos?
I hope so, i need iowa tips
I'll have to grind through NC first, so next video in the series is going to be a "git gud" on that. I'm not a huge BB fan, but given how popular they are, I'll devote some time :)
I thought you had a Montana. I saw one in one of your vids.
@@FunandGameswithTerry I always thought u could just magically summon ships into your port with the press account but I guess we'll have to wait😞
USS Texas’s AA was the best but now it’s a Shadow of the pass now
The problem is the range. 1.5km on the powerful small calibre doesn't have enough time to deal damage to tier 6 planes. I usually end up with 6-7 plane kills if I get focused - not bad, but not enough to stop focus if the CV wants you dead.
And the lack of secondaries does hurt.
Thats the same problem with Iowa and Montana. They have strong AA, but their highly powerful AA is in the small caliber ones. The problem here, is that they have only 1.9 km of range. Her long-range ones can deal damage to aircraft, but shoot down a smaller amount of planes, becuase of their low rpm (rounds per minute).
I dont have this but i have a Mighty G
Guilio Cesare
The Caesare is incredibly dangerous in the right hands. I got one in port as well.
@@kevinerry9958 were not saying its OP its just so good i can still manage to beat t6 bbs even the armor is weak, i learned to dodge salvos and torps cuz manuverbility is really good, AA doesnt matter for me cuz its just mid tiers, for the AP pen i learned to aim to the superstructure its really effective to get full pens i actually brawl to Cesare
Level Kapten kapal sudah max, semua jadi mudah..
