No matter where you live, gated communities included, you’re never more than walking distance from a sketchy area. I’ve been robbed twice and have had my hub caps stolen in the past year and I live in a pretty decent area. Education is a joke. Teachers get paid less than the national average. The schools are underfunded. Property taxes are high, and the hoops businesses jump through to move to Shreveport are a significant factor in its gradual degradation. Take my word for it, if you’re ever driving through, keep driving.
Well, you pretty much nailed California. Of course, you are familiar with the state, as am I. I know it's only going to take a little time before our area gets bad too. I just had to write you and tell you how much you make me laugh.
I have to say.... Truth regarding Oklahoma having the least amount of sidewalks. I have visited OKC many times and they're literally no sidewalks even on major city streets.
Congrats New Mexico for going from #1 worse state to # 10 worse( hope you continue to improve so you wont be on the negative list anymore). My brother lives there. A friend from Maine USA
Same, I was concerned for a bit, but then again Papillion, NE is a suburb of Omaha. Briggs made a video on best towns in America and Papillion, NE was number #2. Of course it's not a surprise to me as Papillion has been Top 10 in US for many years in a row, I lost count.
Well....... Thanks for the tips... this video actually hit all of the states that we were looking into to maybe retiring to..( Arkansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, Tennessee, maybe New Mexico) Thank God you didn't include one of our contenders, Colorado..😑. Oh, and we grew up in Louisiana...👍
I don't know how you missed New Jersey. Especially with the new Governor, who is literally taxing rain. Traffic, toxic waste, nasty people (except South Jersey), way over-populated, highest in any kind of insurance and the CRIME.
I'm from Louisiana. I'm not saying it's the best place, far from it, we have some of the dumbest laws, crime in New Orleans and Shreveport are through the roof. I just recently went to NOLA, been there several times throughout my life, and it's dirtier than I've ever seen it. I won't go to Shreveport to save my soul. I'm from Lake Charles. Here it's pretty clean, crime is high, but far from the worst in the state, sorry if that doesn't say much. Poverty is a thing, but it isn't rampant. The economy is booming, if you can't get a job here, you don't want one. The traffic sucks and the drivers aren't the best, but the community is great. It's not hard to find someone to lend a helping hand. So, I'm not surprised we made the list, I just tend to disagree with our placement. Of course, Southwest Louisiana is the best part of the state, largely, I think, because we are the furthest you can get from both New Orleans and Shreveport and still be in Louisiana. And since I don't spend much time in the northern part of the state, and I think that's where the worst of it is, my opinion is probably just based on the deep south of Louisiana. Spend some time in Cajun country (the area along I-10 between the Lake Charles and Lafayette, and between the Gulf Mexico and US-190) and you'll fall in love with the people. Somebody or their momma will cook you somethin' good to eat and treat you like family. Other than that, I don't blame you. If I wasn't a native I sure wouldn't move here.
@@JustCraftItNow It's expensive. Traffic. over-crowded, older housing... I've lived there over 30 years. In Vegas currently. Less traffic. building a lot here so you get new bigger housing for much lower cost, plenty of entertainment, but still plenty of other things like cool parks, businesses, and family life outside of the strip. Oh yeah also there is no such things as State Tax here. Cool benefits when I moved like wasn't working - state paid for multiple IT certifications/programs etc if I wanted.
EvoSkyCat the only thing bad about California is the traffic. I lived in California all my life and had little too no issues except in my mid teens. I got jumped by mob of thugs. Besides that zero issues.
Richard West it’s expensive because you have so much available to you compared to all the other states. You can go to the mountains, lakes, beach, desert etc. tons of places to go. You gotta pay to play.
Oregon is a drug-riddled dive. Outside the over-priced Portland region, it's Mississippi by the Sea. Nevada is interesting, but it has major drug, crime and unemployment problems -- it's also rather on the expensive side.
A friend of mine just flew to Portland to spend time with a lady she'd met. She told me that the place is overpriced and that they have a lot of homeless people on the streets. She did enjoy her lady friend though. 😁

I’ve lived in New Mexico and currently live in Arkansas. Both states have treated me wonderfully. The culture in New Mexico is beautiful, and southern hospitality is definitely a thing in Arkansas.
G W. III The south is doing really well actually because our politicians aren’t as corrupt. Can’t say the same for California... There’s a reason Hollywood’s moving to Atlanta Georgia.
@@dirtydinner2432 UPDATE DD24 Seems Hollywood is moving out of Georgia again. Apparently you were wrong about your politicians. Their just as corrupt as the rest of the deep south.
Tono One You think an abortion bill that stops people from getting an abortion once the heart is fully formed is corrupt? It’s not preventing women from getting abortions as long as they do it in a responsible time frame. This reduces the risk of the fetus feeling pain when it is killed and also reduces the risk of the mother being injured by having the procedure. Seems pretty reasonable to me, and it’s nothing like Alabama’s abortion bill. You need to stay reading policies for yourself instead of listening to 20 second news reports that don’t give the full picture.
It’s interesting to watch your videos from a few years ago and compare them to your more recent ones to see some of the progress or lack of progress in these states. Thanks Briggs

YES! I've seen it myself while on horseback, no less! A specific place near the SW corner used to have F-15s fly by, heading to a drop site. Both cattle and horses in that area are used to the noise. It's a great place to "de-bomb" your horse. Arkansas has a similar place but not from Air Force planes. It's from two different car racetracks close to one another and the horses and cattle get used to the weekend warriors making racket.

I’ll be as fair as I can. *cracks knuckles* If you ever go to Shreveport don’t let the casino lights distract you from the crumbling infrastructure, abandoned industry, rampant crime and poverty.
As a native Californian I got the hell out of there last year (moved to Oregon...no, NOT Portland) and have never spent one fraction of one second. missing it. It's gone to hell since my childhood days in the 1970s.

Never been to NY, Arkansas or Indiana. But, I can say that Louisiana's numbers are probably made worse by New Orleans and Baton Rouge. New Orleans is more dangerous than Chicago and Detroit. Baton Rouge is close. BUT, Louisiana does have wonderful food and great fishing and hunting. LOL
There is nothing left in Detroit to steal so most of the gangs have left. Just 79,000 houses waiting to be torn down...

How did GA not get on this list? Hot all the time, crooked government, speed traps, crime off the chain.

California where i live should be Number 1.. as its the worst....

@@JustCraftItNow It's expensive. Traffic. over-crowded, older housing... I've lived there over 30 years. In Vegas currently. Tono One You think an abortion bill that stops people from getting an abortion once the heart is fully formed is corrupt? It’s not preventing women from getting abortions as long as they do it in a responsible time frame.
