      Yep, sadly true. Two, maybe three drug houses (that I know of) within 10 miles of my house. When I go out with my horse we BOOK IT past them. At one point, we found marijuana being grown in our back pasture. We killed it off. Two days later, one of our horse's feet was almost sliced off! It's insane.

      I've driven up to North Cali several times, along PCH, etc. It's nice sure. I do miss the beaches too. I recently visited Tahoe and little towns like heavenly which were really nice - but that's since I've been in Vegas.
      That being said it's questionable whether I'm closer to Redwood now really, and Zion national park is 2 hours from here, and we have Redrock and a number of other trails within about 10 min from me, which don't have as many tree's but are quite beautiful and close by.
      The thing is it's just so much more expensive over there. So I mean if you are wealthy and retired, or a successful entrepreneur that's freed up quite a bit of time (to enjoy it) and money then go for it... Aside from the housing cost, there's no such thing as state taxes here...

No matter where you live, gated communities included, you’re never more than walking distance from a sketchy area. I’ve been robbed twice and have had my hub caps stolen in the past year and I live in a pretty decent area. Education is a joke. Teachers get paid less than the national average. The schools are underfunded. Property taxes are high, and the hoops businesses jump through to move to Shreveport are a significant factor in its gradual degradation. Take my word for it, if you’re ever driving through, keep driving.

    @JeradBradley 5 лет назад +1

    I'm from Louisiana. I'm not saying it's the best place, far from it, we have some of the dumbest laws, crime in New Orleans and Shreveport are through the roof. I just recently went to NOLA, been there several times throughout my life, and it's dirtier than I've ever seen it. I won't go to Shreveport to save my soul. I'm from Lake Charles. Here it's pretty clean, crime is high, but far from the worst in the state, sorry if that doesn't say much. Poverty is a thing, but it isn't rampant. The economy is booming, if you can't get a job here, you don't want one. The traffic sucks and the drivers aren't the best, but the community is great. It's not hard to find someone to lend a helping hand. So, I'm not surprised we made the list, I just tend to disagree with our placement. Of course, Southwest Louisiana is the best part of the state, largely, I think, because we are the furthest you can get from both New Orleans and Shreveport and still be in Louisiana. And since I don't spend much time in the northern part of the state, and I think that's where the worst of it is, my opinion is probably just based on the deep south of Louisiana. Spend some time in Cajun country (the area along I-10 between the Lake Charles and Lafayette, and between the Gulf Mexico and US-190) and you'll fall in love with the people. Somebody or their momma will cook you somethin' good to eat and treat you like family. Other than that, I don't blame you. If I wasn't a native I sure wouldn't move here.

      Tono One You think an abortion bill that stops people from getting an abortion once the heart is fully formed is corrupt? It’s not preventing women from getting abortions as long as they do it in a responsible time frame. This reduces the risk of the fetus feeling pain when it is killed and also reduces the risk of the mother being injured by having the procedure. Seems pretty reasonable to me, and it’s nothing like Alabama’s abortion bill. You need to stay reading policies for yourself instead of listening to 20 second news reports that don’t give the full picture.

    • @windmechanic
      @windmechanic 5 лет назад +1

      YES! I've seen it myself while on horseback, no less! A specific place near the SW corner used to have F-15s fly by, heading to a drop site. Both cattle and horses in that area are used to the noise. It's a great place to "de-bomb" your horse. Arkansas has a similar place but not from Air Force planes. It's from two different car racetracks close to one another and the horses and cattle get used to the weekend warriors making racket.
