Im jealous of your experience. I was really pushed/forced to go deeper too fast by my trainer. On day 3 i was on 18. i took a break for 2 days, continued and went to 30m on day 7 doing the advanced but it was way too quick and i panicked a lot throughout my training which made me stop for 1 year. Now im back at it but super chill & fell in love again!

I'm just starting to get into snorkeling with my end goal being scuba diving however I think free dicing is really a unique experience and perhaps I'll try it out someday. My breath hold really isn't long, under a minute actually so I really need training before even thinking about freediving, however I love the water and the ocean so so much that I want to spend as much time underwater as I can. Sadly I chose a horrible time to start smh, I'm from Southern California and with the huge storm that came through and the weather still being bad I should've maybe chosen a better time to get into it but at least I'm better prepared.

Good luck! Just got my first scuba course done, so awesome. but its expensive so im going back to learn to freedive better. Just bought a weight belt this week but went out, still sick, in the winter cold water of New Zealand with my sleevless summer wetsuit and just got ice cold and couldn't equalize cause of my sinuses haha. But best believe I'll be back out there saw a bunch of snapper and a ray. @@shyryTsr2k

What the hell man, 25 meters!!!
I remember going on vacation with my sister like 2 years ago and her freediving to like 10 or so meters. I felt so powerless watching that from the surface. That already seemed incredibly deep. It must be extremely calm down there and if you're confident you're in control it must feel like you are superhuman. 25 meter is nuts man haha

That’s very impressive man loved the video! As someone who has spear fished many times I feel that free diving is primarily mental. You must be very strong to be able to push outside of your comfort zone this way! Cheers man

the meters will come.. I did one month training this june and for the first two weeks my limit (due to equalisation issues) was at 27-28m.. so frustrating. Trained my equalisation skills and kept going. Once you overcome a block, meter will come. I finished the month with a 50 meter dive :) Best of luck!

Great video, I feel like you were missing out on so many important parts of freediving tho. Maybe you just didn’t show it in the video but techniques like how to breath when resurfacing or how to move efficiently with little oxygen usage were completely left out as well as the whole visualization process of freediving were left out which is kind of misleading because I think they are important to freediving beginners or people who are interested in learning. However, thank you very much for this great video and making people more aware of how great freediving is!

Good job Laurie. I see you were fogging up. Rub a small dab of toothpaste around the inside of your mask, then rinse it out a bit until you don't see any chunks/streaks of toothpaste. You'll be fog free for hours. Others like baby shampoo, but in my experience toothpaste is better. Makes it way more fun when you stay clear for hours on end.

25 meters i great! Yeah you pushed it but you got the ability to equalize and comfort level in the water to get to that depth - congratulations!
Going up is where the ability to stay relaxed truly is tested, it also takes time to build comfort with the depth. I like to float the last 8-10 meters, not move a fin and focus 100% on relaxation with the goal to feel no stress or tension. If I feel even a tickle of stress I consider it a failed dive and take it easier.
With good breathe-up, calm mind and good duck dive followed by good finning and equalization technique on your way down you've done most of the work for dives

Tip for beginners: Don't free dive with fins and other gear. They just make you go deeper than you actually can. 15 meters is easily done in just boxers and under normal circumstances you won't need more than that. 15+ is for the adrenaline junkies.

they mean not to hold under the water. you can hold as long as you want on the surface, because you almost safe. even if you have a blackout, you will start breathe oxygen and most likely come back by your self. But not to breathe on the surface till the blackout is very unlikely, if nobody is forcing you not to breath and you just doing it willingly.
