Russia meanwhile is a land based power for most of history as it makes sense why they’d prioritize deploying large number of men and equipment at the same time aligned with their doctrine.

Btw zubr used by the greece army with same purposes for a future conflict with turkish army for the northern cyprus - fast and rapid island to island landing operations.

The Zubr (the Russian one in this vid) is the just the LARGEST of the Russian LCACs in service and yes there are only ten of them. But they are augmented by many smaller classes such as the Aist-class, Gus-class, Tsaplya-class LCAC (most modern behind the Zubr, South Korea has three in service), and the Lebed-class which is the oldest.
They’re not as crucial anymore because of man portable anti ship missiles. Literally the Osprey aircraft are doing a lot of the same work for the marines and they got rid of their tanks. Now the heaviest vehicles are the fighting vehicles so the smaller hovercraft are appropriate.

I don't think many here understand that there is a reason why the US Navy hovercraft are smaller. The Russian does not have to be in an LHD. The hovercraft from the USA only has the task of bringing troops ashore from a LHD or vice versa, that's it. Since Russia itself does not have any LHDs, they do not have to be smaller. That's why I think the ones from the US Navy are much better. By the way, Russia has only 2 of these hovercrafts, while the USA has 76 hovercrafts.

Kinda interesting how doctrine has dictated the shape and function of the two. American doctrine calls for complete control of the sky to be achieved before ground forces are committed to the fight, and thus the American hovercraft is just a bus for getting vehicles to shore. Russia, on the other hand, doesn't expect that control of the sky and so has AD systems on its hovercraft to cover them. Given the performance of the Russian Air Force in Ukraine, they're probably right to take that precaution.

I'm American, but I like the Russian LCAC....or whatever they call it.
The Zubr (the Russian one in this vid) is the just the LARGEST of the Russian LCACs in service and yes there are only ten of them. But they are augmented by many smaller classes such as the Aist-class, Gus-class, Tsaplya-class LCAC (most modern behind the Zubr, South Korea has three in service), and the Lebed-class which is the oldest.
They’re not as crucial anymore because of man portable anti ship missiles. Literally the Osprey aircraft are doing a lot of the same work for the marines and they got rid of their tanks. Now the heaviest vehicles are the fighting vehicles so the smaller hovercraft are appropriate.

I don't think many here understand that there is a reason why the US Navy hovercraft are smaller. The Russian does not have to be in an LHD. The hovercraft from the USA only has the task of bringing troops ashore from a LHD or vice versa, that's it. Since Russia itself does not have any LHDs, they do not have to be smaller. That's why I think the ones from the US Navy are much better. By the way, Russia has only 2 of these hovercrafts, while the USA has 76 hovercrafts.

Kinda interesting how doctrine has dictated the shape and function of the two.
American doctrine calls for complete control of the sky to be achieved before ground forces are committed to the fight, and thus the American hovercraft is just a bus for getting vehicles to shore.
Russia, on the other hand, doesn't expect that control of the sky and so has AD systems on its hovercraft to cover them. Given the performance of the Russian Air Force in Ukraine, they're probably right to take that precaution.
