  • Samoa's tatau, along with Japan's irezumi, is one of the world's most distinctive living tattoo traditions. Opening July 30, 2016, at JANM, "Tatau: Marks of Polynesia" will explore the beauty of tatau as well as its role in the preservation and propagation of Samoan culture.
Support the documentation and promotion of an important indigenous art form. Donate to JANM's Indiegogo campaign today. Your funds will go directly toward the costs of producing "Tatau: Marks of Polynesia," from photographing the work to installing the exhibition at the museum to publishing the full-color catalog.

Just be real careful in exposing the reality and truths about this art when collaborating it with others. The origin is very important. It’s part of your history and your art must be explained in details as it should. Proud of it.

Tatau is a Samoan name for the Pea and it's funny how the world starts to think it's a word that belong to The World.. Only Samoa has the real tatau..the Pea..Sogaimiti...
