I love how this series evolves slowly but deliberately from episode to episode. It then comes together in a final crescendo in the last episode that'll really hook you in. I cannot wait to see your reaction.
This show does such a great job of feeding us just barely enough answers to keep us connected while introducing new questions to make us hunger for more. I wish commenters would let the show reveal things rather than thinking they need to explain them sooner than necessary. It's totally OK -- and even expected -- for viewers to be confused for a while. It's makes the, "Oh, aha!", moments more satisfying.
I don't know if this classifies as spoilers or not, Andi - but I think the episode did try to make it clear ... they were perhaps just a bit ambiguous about it. The war that Lucy learned about was the one we saw in Episode 1. The war/nuclear event that Max lived through happened quite a bit later.
I don't think it's a spoiler. What you say is pretty much what the show portrayed. When Maximus says he was a kid when the bombs fell, Lucy says, "Is that what they tell you in your Brotherhood?", implying that she thinks Max has been told a fable by his compatriots. Lucy realizes he was telling the truth when she sees the Shady Sands sign. Max takes her to the bomb crater and she wonders if anyone survived. Max says, "I did." That's pretty clear to me, but it did kinda lead me astray the first time I heard it . . .
Don't worry, I've finished it. I think I was getting confused because, in my mind, if the bombs are dropped, they're only dropped once because there's pretty much no-one left to drop more. Clearly that's not the case though (you'd think I'd realise that because of the existence of vaults) but yeah. 😅 Also, it's just occurred to me that I guess nobody is going to drop a nuke when they themselves are on the surface and at risk. Ooof. 😲
Hi Andy! The great war was over 200 years ago, and Shady Sands recovered enough over the years to become the capital of the New Califonia Republic. (Which is a joinable faction in Fallout New Vegas, with the least obvious downsides. They are the only society that maintains democracy. In FNV they are being swallowed by their commitments around New Vegas while holding Hoover Dam from a long threatened attack by Ceaser's Legion, a cult of personality that has conquered and forcibly recruited over 80 barbarian tribes. It is under the leadership of a Latin speaking former member of the Followers of The Apocalypse, an educated survivalist group that provides free education to anyone in medicine, agriculture and simple technology. In the last 20 years the NCR has apparently been nuked by someone and presumably is a shadow of what it used to be.)
Thaddeus's scream always cracks me up, max sat there and took it but he screamed like a girl. I aint judgin him though, id scream the same way i just find it funny cause i was NOT expecting his scream to be so high pitched 😂
Lucy "WHY?" because your rare and valuable pip-boy was to much to resist. Max and Lucy are talking about two different nuke events, the war was in 2077. The billboard indicates Shady Sands was created in 2142 so sixty five years after the war, Max appears to be ten years old in the flashback so that bomb was maybe nine to twelve years earlier depending on how old M ax is supposed to be. It is 2296 when the series starts so Maxs nuke event is between 2284 and 2286 depending on his age, just guessing. IMO vault 31 cleaned up 32, (who else could have?) many people are fooled by the song into thinking that only a day has passed since Norm and Chet were in it, the series plays fast and loose with how much time has actually passed so I personally think a greater amount of time did pass.
They could have cleaned it in a day if everyone from 31 did it (yes, that's possible, even with the thigns we learn later). Keep in mind these vaults don't normally see each other except every 3 years at the trade, but that doens't mean exceptions are not made, especially sicne we know somehting naferius is being orchestrated from 31 now. Sicne the 31 dwellers usually ebcome overseers, its clear they want to remain in control of all 3 vaults, so it would be in their interest to clean up 32 as quick as possible so as little people see it as possible. Especially sicne Betty now suspects Norm has been sneaking around. If norm claims there were dead bodies that were there for 2 years and its his word against betty, noone will beleive him. If others see it, it could be a real problem for 31's ability to control them.
The door separating Vault 33 & 32 was still bloody on the 32 side, so I don't think 31 cleaned 32 or else they would've seen the blood and cleaned that door. So I think someone(s) from 33 cleaned 32 while the door was open and that's why they didn't see the blood on the 32 side of the door because you could only see the blood when the door was closed.
Everyone explaining the different "wars" is spoiling upcoming events, whether you intended to or not. The best answer in those situations is to simply say "Don't worry, the show will explain things"

That fiend girl was made to resemble a npc vendor from fallout 4 named cricket
Damn I never picked up on that, great catch!
@@viziontrex I only notice cuz I wear her outfit in 76 a lot lol
Two different events...Cooper's bombs in espisode 1 is a different event than Max's bomb as a child.
If you play the game, there is a traveling merchant named Cricket. She looks exactly like the woman on the railway bridge.

The show tells us exactly when these events take place relative to the bombs dropping in the first episode so trust the show to answer your questions.
17:07 When is a jump scare not a jump scare? .... when it's a fall scare!

Two different wars one 200+ years ago the other smaller war 20 years ago.
