Nice build and flight video! I flew the Olympic ll in the early to mid 80s launched from a high start line and then progressed to a powered winch launch. They are a great vintage flyer for sure!
Hey Bruce, Nice job on the Oly 2. Very similar build of wings and fuzz to the Bridi Big Birdi that I'm currently restoring. Also adding spoilers. Liked the red wine glass (for gluing joints and holding down sheeting) also the beer bottle comes in handy.Cheers
@@BruceJacquesRC yes did the same in SA Thermal championships back in the late 80s ( duration and spot landing) Went with 2 other experienced pilots and I finished higher in points than they did.
Is that right? If you mean Skybench then their present website seems to suggest this version (Oly 11) can be bought. If was always an 'order' first business rather than one where you could pick from web pictures and pay on the spot. The bigger 0ly 111 seems be be the version which has been pending for years. That said although I have looked at the current site every so often over the years I haven't tried to order anything there. I'm old enough that I bought all my SkyBench glider kits (an Oly 111, Big Bird XL and others) from the original website when the late Ray Hayes was alive so you might be right that if you start going through the order procedure with the new owner you eventually hit the buffers.
Okay, here's the thing. You can recreate the design but you can't recreate the quality of an Airtronics kit. I don't think you can get "blonde balsa" anymore.
No problem, I fly slope lots, so much fun. Don’t be sorry, I build models for myself, some pure thermal soarers like this one are electric, others go up on a bungee . Cheers.
The last Olyll I built I put a full flying stab on it about the size of a Windrees' full flying stab (small). It worked like a charm and improved the flight characteristics by providing a still more positive elevator control and slightly more penetration capabilities (perceivable). Did the same to an Oly 650 with same results. Cheers: Robert
Great video! I'm 58 now and built mine back in 1981. Still have it! Flies great!

That was my first rc glider, in 1982. RCM magazine, what a hobby magazine it was. Memories of the good times.
Glad you enjoyed it , thanks for having a look.
Beautiful music with a great video, none of that screaming and metal music.
Built an original Olympic back in the 70' s, fantastic model. Thx for the info, might want to build the II
Great work
Great video and really good music! Im considering a Olympic ll kit I found online.
Thanks , It's a nice one to take out on the nicer days.
wow... The Olympic II was my first glider,, and I still remember the very good time I spent flying it. Thanks for the video and BTW, excellent built
Great to watch and relaxing...😄
It looks like a sailplane that I had as a kid. The kit name was "Gentle Lady"
Nice, thanks for the video
I just finished a scratch build paragon. Oly 2 is my next scratch build
Enjoy the Oly II

Thanks , I actually had a Big Birdi back in about 1980! Flew in the Australia national comp & beat my mate who ironically had an Olympic II.

I dont know how SkyBench can 'copyright' the Olympic II, the plans are freely available.
Don't know much about that , I just got the plan printed , but good that people can get kits if they prefer to go that way.
Sad face... they do not yet have kits for sale on the website

for the price, it should.
Forgive me but as a slope soarer...Electric? You ruined it! Sorry I feel that way but I do.
