Geez I’ve been looking at all these higher viewed videos for ham bone soup since Easter Sunday, and everything I was looking for is right here with your recipe. Thank you for making it so thorough and easy to make and easy to understand. I will be making it tomorrow. You are awesome sauce lol!
Dude - I look forward to this time of year each year just so I can cook up this soup. It will certainly freeze for future leftovers. I normally keep my leftover soup in the crockpot in the fridge and it's gone by about day three. Good luck with your cook.
Very cool - hopefully things will turn out well and you'll be eating well for a few days. Watch out for small bones too while eating this. Take care and check out some of the other videos I've posted too. Thanks - Kevin.
Nice - if you can, keep the leftovers in the crockpot and keep reheating on the crockpot until finished. I swear each day of reheating that soup makes it taste even better. Did that this year with the Thanksgiving ham bone soup and it was good.
Outstanding Connor - I really don't think you can possibly screw this recipe up and the rewards for the finished product are huge. Eat this on a cold winter day and you're talking major satisfaction. I hope it turns out well. Thanks.
That looks fantastic...great recipe. Well done brother...can't wait to try it as I am making ham this week. Do you have a preference over which ham bones you use? I am not all the experienced with making ham oddly...thanks!
A Alekhine Thanks for the kind words. I've done this soup with both shank and butt portion ham bones. You won't go wrong with either type. Let me know how your version comes out. The more meat on the bone the better. Watch out for smaller bones too when done - some of them small bones are bite size.
I am sorry. But how is it, after watching this amazing recipe video, that you do not have one frikken' subscriber?! I mean this video had over 6,400 views and not ONE brain dead (obviously they are brain dead) viewer thought it would be a great idea to subscribe!! You now have your very first official subscriber and we WILL be making this recipe tomorrow. Thanks!
Roxanne Bryce thank you for the kind words and yes it would be very nice to have more people subscribe. Feel free to share with your friends and check out some of my other dishes too.
I believe all potatoes shown were used, but you can alter the recipe to you own liking. My crock pot is also quite larger than most. I just made a batch of this Sunday PM and it came out great. Add just enough water to cover the top of the bone and add your potatoes about halfway done. Good luck if you're attempting this and I'm sure you'll be successful.
Hi thehotpinkrd you do not need the flavor packet for this recipe. I always throw my flavor packets out. Good luck if you're trying this. Thanks, Kevin
Hi there no reason why I choose to use the dry beans it's just the way I've always done it. I'm guessing you can also use the no soak beans. Let me know how it goes if you try this.
Hey there - the recipe is to use the ham bone only to make this soup. I can't speak on the use of the whole ham to do this as I've never done it. I typically smoke the hams then use the leftover bones for the soup. Good luck with your dish. Thanks, Kevin
This is my all-time favorite food (probably in large part because my mother would make it when I was little)
My go-to recipe for this soup! Everyone tells me.its awesome! I can't let them see this video and see how easy it is.

Thanks for the kind words. I'll be cooking this too very soon with my leftover Easter ham bone. Easy to cook with very tasty results.
This was the exact recipe we were needing. Soaking the beans right now. Using our leftover Thanksgiving ham. Hopefully it freezes decent. Thanks.

What was the deal with the leafy celery? Did you include it? Never said and didnt show chopping?
Thankyou will try
my mother always put butter and vinegar in her ham and bean soup
You put in vinegar during the soaking process so they won't give you gas, not for flavor.
@@mwood65 I thought that was a myth
@@scottb_02 probably
1/2 a bushel of celery?????

Did you put all eight potatoes in?

Legit
I would have dropped a couple of bay leaves in when adding the potatoes.
next time put some honey glaze in it very delisoso
When did you put the flavor packet in that comes w/the beans? Did I miss that part??
Hi thehotpinkrd you do not need the flavor packet for this recipe. I always throw my flavor packets out. Good luck if you're trying this.
Thanks,

why did you not choose the no soak beans ?
Hi there no reason why I choose to use the dry beans it's just the way I've always done it. I'm guessing you can also use the no soak beans. Let me know how it goes if you try this.
Ummm, did you say HALF OF A BUSHEL of celery? I think you meant to say half of a bunch.
🙄
I have a whole ham right now can I use this recipe for a whole ham or should I smoke it and just save the bone?
Hey there - the recipe is to use the ham bone only to make this soup. I can't speak on the use of the whole ham to do this as I've never done it. I typically smoke the hams then use the leftover bones for the soup. Good luck with your dish.

It shouldn't take 8 hours. Been cooking them for years
targeting the celery and retaining them…. hmm me thinks you may be a veteran
