Im 70 years old now and haven't ridden a bike for years. You two are making me want to get back in the saddle again for one last big tour. Vids are great thank you.

... and that is exactly what i'm doing as a 71 y o, as of Mon. the 5th. Aug. Packing up the 1500 Suzi and going for 3 - 4 weeks on my last big tour before downsizeing and acting my calender age. Too old for camping now, so doing B'nB.
I always said, you don't get too old for bikng, you get old because you stopped biking. I don't know your circumstances why you stopped, but i'm sorry you did (or had to?).

Tip for the water being warm in your camel pack pipe, once you’ve had a drink blow the the water in the pipe back into the bag so the pipes empty. Works a treat.

The Gavia is the best kept secret of the entire Alps! Simply my favourite pass, and there is a lot of competition. The twisty road down is pretty hairy in parts though, a bit narrow and you're on the outside of the road... brrrr! Great video
Yes, Ewa hhad a scary moment passing a car on a really narrow bit, lets hope the motorhomes dont find out about this pass

Wow wow wow,i rode a gsxr 11 though the alps a few time's in the early 90s,amazing place,swimming in the lake's ,enjoyed every mile,late 90s done the same on an R1,dropped down into monza and watched the world superbikes❤

Tip with the camelback if you don’t have the insulated tube, blow the water back in to the bladder after a drink. Saves the horrible warm stuff before you get the cold water.

Yes, ironically they are the off road variant, the adventure sports is supposedly the touring version but with a 30L tank and higher seat height it’s just silly sized we think. If anything we would go smaller and lighter

Hi Dave welcome to the channel, we love to ride the mountains, We did a home to Rome tour last year and made the mistake of doing motorways to get to Rome in 3 days, we will never do that again! Coming home was much better over the mountains, Black Forest etc. We love to do the go slow see more approach these days

For the Alpine passes where attention to the road is more important than looking at the scenery I have an Insta360 One camera recording full time as it is powered from the bike. It is easy to review the footage later to get a full round view of the road taken. It does need a lot of storage for the data files as they are larger than a normal action cam but I have a laptop with a 4Tb external ssd for this. Last years tour filled the ssd with the 360 files and those from a Ghost XL that is also on permanent record while on the road.
We have one of those too but we don’t use that one
We only got to Stelvio in June then had to head back to Somerset ,only had 8 days and was only ment to be doing the black forest and vosges lol, definitely heading back next year and heading too my Aunts in Portoguaro Italy , will definitely be including these passes absolutely stunning .

A few years ago I bought a two prong 4 outlet USB wall charger for European tours and that’s all I take to charge my gadgets. I wish I’d done that years earlier, it would have saved messing around with adapters.

@ontheroadadventure yes, Sept 2022 we just didn't spend enough time there. We went down to Florence and back through the Alps, the biggest let down was planned visits to two bikers cafes and neither were open despite Google saying they would be.

I've been watching all the videos on your channel. Last week I've watched some older ones. Ewa's editing skills have improved a lot! The videos are getting better and better! So much fun! The footage filmed from the bike, the drone and the information you share about the things you see/visit is really great. Keep it up guys. Respect!
Thanks so much, I edited this one though lol. We each edit the videos it’s how we manage to keep up as many as we do on the road. We love to try to improve something each time and if you watch the Sicily tour which was our first tour compared to now it’s amazing the difference, but of course we invested allot of money into better equipment too.

I will come by that area next week. I guess I have to convince my friend traveling with me to detour a little thru the Dolomites. Probably not going to be difficult with these videos 😀. Looks absolutely great there. We will continue down towards Bologna though, than to the west coast at La Spezia and back up to Lake Garda. Will leave my mate there, since he meets up with his girlfriends family and I will go back to southern Germany, passing by Lake Constance.

I was first taken to the Alps when I was 5. Made a pretty big impression. I still get nearly as excited every time I ride to big mountains.

Super area to be, to ride, and live..., until the winter comes! Reckon life is hard in winter there, otherwise there would me more signs of civilisation.
Since you uploaded this video, you've probably realised that Slovenia is not as cheap as you thought it would be. In fact, I think i'm right in saying that it's the most expensive of the Balkan countries. Summer sets in much later up there, that's why there are still all those pockets of snow around. One big question is lurking around me... where did you get the Camelpaks from, such a genius idea. Ride safe and stay vigilant.
You’re not wrong about Slovenia! Or the winter… I’ve never tried skiing but I suspect I’m no good at it so don’t think I’d like that much!
The camelbaks are perfect for long tours in hot weather, you get them online or most outdoors type shops, when your not using it store the bladder in the freezer to keep the bag clean and fresh so no bacteria can grow in it

You'll be fine rich. If you see a bear, find a downward hill cuz Bears really don't climb down hills very well. They would normally roll over and fall. but once you get to the bottom of the hill, be careful cuz they can run uphill. Really really well

As far as the topic earlier about a uk september camping meet - why not south devon (yes I live near you) but then local knowledge, Princetown. Tavistock (maybe too cold for Burgh Island?) and various loops out across dartmoor?
River Dart adventure park maybe, there is alos a nearby 'field type' campsite but not sure on facilites.
Many places you have already covered so maybe those 'camper visitors' may like a tour or route guidances?
Plenty of campsites depending on any response you get and the standard ( toilets and showers are not 'optional')
Finally have my wife looking at these trip reports and now understands why I enjoy you videos.

Hey, whats his about Kevins in Ford Escorts? I run a 1983 Ford Escort 1100, and took her over many mountain passes in the Alps (the French part) and the Pyrenees in May. I plan to try your passes in a few weeks on my bike. Making careful notes from your video in preparation.
My suggestion if you have to pass a car on one of those narrow roads with a big drop on one side is to go to the side of the road away from the drop and stop (even if it is the wrong side of the road). Then let the car go past you. That way you won't be trying to put your foot down on fresh air (and thence down the mountain side).
That camping dinner looked fabulous. It would have been even better if taken with some Italian red wine.
A good tip there stopping on the inside of a car, can be put on some dodgy situations on those mountain passes!

Highlight of our tour
Great vid guys, amazing scenery. Have you been down to the Furka/Grimsel/Susten passes in Switzerland? I went with a mate, he was on a VFR800 and I was on my VFR1200, both agreed the riding down there was the best of our lives. I have a DCT Goldwing Tour now, can't wait to get back down there and enjoy the views.
Yes we did those a couple years back now when Switzerland was our end goal, we rode as many passes as we could find! Amazing trip, especially for Ewa having just passed her test lol

It’s a lovely road and scenery but I don’t think I could ride those narrow bits with sheer drop on the right hand side.
You can do it Ian, its fine as long as you ride sensibly
@@ontheroadadventure I have done it before in Spain and I subconsciously rode away from the edge towards the opposite side of the road - obviously dangerous if oncoming traffic.
Hi there really Enjoy your Video's, I am right in thinking your are Using Garmin Sat Nav 's ? If you arei n the Settings you can View your Altitude/ Height Abovee Sea Level .. Hope this helps . Ride Safe 😊.

Hi going somewhere not planning where to stay is the best . I just done Sweden & Norway (3 weeks) not planned (tent as back-up) not used found accommodation every day 👍
We have never been stuck for somewhere to stay, it always works out, so many options now with apps and websites or just Google at our fingertips. We love the flexibility and unpredictable nature of our travels
Can you guys send info on the route you have taken along the way? After you get back home of course!!
We make it up as we go bud! We can tell you the areas we hit but we don’t plan routes we just put in waypoints and see what we see on the way
As for the Bears Rich, you've only gotta be able to run faster than Ewa... ha ha 🤣😂! Sorry Ewa, just joking, I know you can take a joke 😉.

We did the Gavia last year but the opposite direction . Ironically it was a detour from the dolomites so my friend did not have to do the twisty side of the Stelvio as he was two up on a girt big vtwin. I did not realise how tight that road was but he survived 😂.

I was in Yosemite park USA.The advice was if attacked by a bear curl up in a ball,it will knock you about a bit till it gets bored,if attacked by a mountain lion,fight for your life because it intends to eat you.

You cant imagine leaving everywhere open in UK, everything would be stolen. The views are so beautiful., lovely photography. What about loads of motorhomes coming up the mountains. So dont advertise it too much.

5:44 up against bears ,make yourself as wide as possible and as noisy as possible ,don't turn your back on then ,if that don't work run like fck .oh I thought it was mainly lynx and moose there ,plus there's special bin looking things that you can get inside and wait till they go .
