Even though the vocals of magnificent Molly Hamilton do resemble the soothing timbre of unexcelled dream icon Hope Sandoval quite a bit, I would distinguish between Mazzy Star and Widowspeak, as the latter seem to me a bit dreamier due to their overall tone and guitar melodies, perhaps due to the absence of psychedelic acoustic interludes; I would describe their music as falling into a sweet oblivion, when Mazzy Star is a trip through a gloomy haze. BIG like for the performance. So glad to having discovered them, I'm a fan.

This must be what Zolpedim sounds like. I think the first song was used as background noise for a drowning scene in a B movie that I can't member the name of. It made someone have goosebumps somewhere. I love the cheap reverb! None of them can play an instrument well enough to call themselves musicians; they can't fail! Bring me more! Bravo!
stunning music. I hate to say this, but the bands live performance is undoubtedly more powerful than their recordings..they got the feeling right in a way that their recordings didn't. If they had put these recordings on the album, i don't have much doubt that it would've made a a much bigger "splash" in the music scene.
Could have sworn I saw these guys play a benefit to save the endangered Pine Weasel at the Great Northern Hotel of Twin Peaks. Things got out of hand that night. Or maybe not. VERY nice music either way.
