It's hard not say this is their best album when it's Maynard's peak singing voice on any album and some of the best soundscapes ever from Billy. Once you hear Brena it should seal the deal that this is their best album, but 13th step is very close as all the songs on that album are all solid and perhaps it's easier to connect with the lyrics.
Awesome guys!! My son and I are going to the Tampa show! Unbelievably this is going to be my 40th TOOL show and my son’s 1st. I’m so stoked to go with him. A moment I’ll never forget! 🤘🏼🤘🏼🔥🔥🤯🤯👽
All I will say is, when APC first played this song live on the Mer de Noms tour.... during the break down, Maynard would gaze out at the crowd, pull his pants down (with black briefs on) and chant "Thinking of you! Thinking of you!! Thinking..." No, for real he did this. I'm sure there's video of it somewhere
I was a music major in college the year this album came out. I played 2 songs for my professor after class and he demanded that I burn him a copy. A week later we analyzed it in class in regards to syncopation and time signature. Not this song but I got to lead the class as a freshman. My proudest moment. I didn't do it justice. But still i passed
@@dutchmastah07 my principal instrument was guitar. It was for a theory class and we analyzed the time signatures and syncopation for sleeping beauty and Thomas.
I saw them in concert when A Perfect Circle was new, and he did this song with his curved back to the crowd. It was such a simple and incredibly suggestive thing to do. Instantly erotic. It was one of my favorite moments of the performance.
Mer de Noms is the only album with the original lineup of the band. After this bassist Paz Lenchantin joined the band Zwan and rhythm guitarist Troy van Leeuwen joined Queens of the Stone Age. They were replaced live by Twiggy Ramirez and James Iha respectively.
IMO, the APC albums consecutively got simpler and simpler. I rarely listen to Eat The Elephant but I get that fans dig it. I miss the musicality on Mer De Noms. Paz brought so much to the album with the bass, vocals, string instruments
Damn..I'm gonna be at the Orlando show..wish I was at the same show as y'all. Can't wait to see the after video. But I'm pretty sure they are in Orlando on the 8th and Tampa on the 9th. When u first said the 8th I got super stoked.
🦋I agree with both your opinions on this song. It's def not my #1 fav but it's up there in my top 10 by A Perfect Circle. Maynard Certainly Knows How To Grab The Attention With His Lyrics. Always a Mind-numbing Experience. 😉😏Magdalena, Rose, Sleeping Beauty, The Outsider, Puscifer's Indigo Children, & The Undertaker Renholder mix. I'm Looking Forward To Watching Those reactions most of all. Great Mjk Tuesday So glad I was able to catch the Premier. Finally getting back to my regularly scheduled Routines. Off To Watch More Of What I've Missed. Best Tuesday I've Had In Weeks. 🙌
This song is dirty, and Maynard's singing is fantastic, and this is one of my two favorite songs on this album (Sleeping Beauty is the other), with 3 Libras close behind. Yes, Judith is fire, but the singing on those other 3 just *kills* me. I got to see them live for this album tour, and it was a small venue and just amazing.
Mer de Noms is their best work and one of the greatest debut rock albums ever imho. I love the lyrics, flow, and use of dynamics on Thirteenth Step but none of their work can eclipse this album as a whole. All killer no filler!! and YES, you guys should DEF review your Tool experience and let us know how it went. 2/19 Boston will be my 9th show and I can't wait!! It's always a great year when Tool comes to town(which isn't often enough on the East Coast) and this will most certainly be the mood boost I need right now. Enjoy the show guys!!
If you remember Smokey or Hollywood I sent you a clip of him performing this live .....it shattered the whole notion Maynard has stage fright . Should be on the Patreon messages
@@Hollywood6IX I was lit when I sent it .. those days are behind me now lol thanks guys for always listening. I may post link in the chat ..with a warning 😉 first
Yes! Finally someone demands M.O.D.! “Don’t talk to me, talk to Nick, talk to Nick!” Lol “She left in tears followed by my jeers. I could not help she’s faaaaaat…” man that takes me back!
Late day 15 of suggesting y’all to react to Slowdive, My Bloody Valentine and Ride just to see you be mind blown by the homy trinity of Shoegazing. _____ Thinking of You is an absolute masterpiece even if it’s about jackin’ it. It’s even more fantastic seeing you both tripping to the final bridge and then realizing what it’s about. Priceless.
Maynard is a lyricist. He writes lyrics and sings and has very little to do with the music. Both Tool and APC is musically composed by the band and Billy respectively. Maynard writes according to the music presented.
Tool has been allowing phone cams on the last song of the show, as a reward for not using them the rest of the time. So you could actually catch some video.
So not Tool tuesday related (good song choice btw) but you guys, one day, need to check out Rivers of Nihil (pronounced Nile) The Silent Life. It's a technical Deathmetal band, and they're sensational. That song in particular is fucking great.
Hey guys! If you have a Perfect Circle on an album cover in front of you, tilt it side ways slightly. Almost parallel to the ground, but sideways enough so that you can see the logo….see the perfect circle?? 🥰😘🌙
By the way, the image actually is a perfect circle. Take a ring that you might wear on your finger and turn it slightly. The exterior is the bigger, the interior is the smaller.
Funny, when I saw them, they opened for NIN, and it was their very first live show, And the only thing Maynard said before they played this song was “This song is not about anal sex.” That’s it, and they immediately launched into the song lol.
Hollywood six did you just say that art symbol is NOT a perfect circle...... it's an optical illusion where the outside of one will fit into inside of the other. It's a perfect circle trust me. Add the larger one to smaller and visa versa & you will get a perfect circle 👌
February 8th in Tampa for you guys seeing Tool? Now that's what I call a real TOOL TUESDAY! It's like it was destiny. 😁 Mer de Noms... my least favorite too. Eat the Elephant being #1.
Mer de noms. Is by far the best album
I was literally about to type this at the exact same time I saw your comment.
Now that I look at the songs I definitely take that back, orestes, Judith, 3 library, the hollow, thinking of you, WHAT TF WAS I THINKING 🤣🤣🤣
100% these guys gotta learn Mer De Noms is king, ETE is the worst def
Everyone has their opinion. Eat the Elephant is fire. I didn’t like it much at first but now it’s my favorite. Just saying. 🤷♀️
Agreed.

Lol we meant Orlando 😅
So glad for this. The studio version is an EPIC piece of rock and roll. Been waiting a long time. I have no doubt it will be worth it!

Awesome!

Smoke dawg! I love the shirt! I used to have that image as my wallpaper for years! I love Edgar Allen Poe!

Agree, totally.
That bass player was Paz and she was the best they ever had
Also on strings and piano
She’s a bad ass bassist.
Love this song!!! Perfect way to end my quarantine. ❤🤘
I absolutely love to watch him sing this live from back in the day
why you gotta always have favourites.... we are so lucky to have so much music to listen to.
i had this CD on repeat for about a year :)
Absolutely 100 percent. Couldn't agree with you more

Maaan I forgot how good this song was!!! It’s been awhile since I’ve heard this. Hell ya homies!!
I'm watching this on February 7th, enjoy your concert tomorrow. It will be a life changer.
Why havent you guys checked out Billy's solo gig? Ashes Divide? theres some good stuff there.

Paz Lenchantin is a nutball on bass. Plus, she can tie her hair up during Judith’s bridge, so. Convenient lol
Man if you're going to see tool live, get ready to have an experience. A really unbelievable experience! I hope it goes well for you guys.
I absolutely love this song! Hell, I love the while album.
Check out the song Rose
Mer De Noms by FAR the best APC album, none of the others come close.
Finally I get to watch this live yay Happy Australia Day boys 🦘🪃
Glad you could join The Tribe
This one ROCKS!!! 💯🔥
Yooooo, gonna be a great dinner vibe! Sweet Surrendering!
This one has great base in the car!!!
This album is a masterpiece.
MAYNARD WRITES LYRICS TO EVERYTHING TO EVERY PROJECT.
I think my favorite apc song has to be By and Down
What a song
damn man, you guys get it! that shit is sick!
One my favorites.
Thomas, Brena, Sleeping Beauty great reaction dudes !
M.O.D. - Spandex Enormity 👍

You guys should do "Counting Bodies Like Sheep to the Rhythm of the War Drums" from the Emotive album. Great music video for that song.
@Marissa North how did I miss that? Thanks!
FYI Guys, Feb. 8th is the Orlando show. Feb 9th is the Tampa show. I was starting to second guess myself lol. I'll be at the Orlando show.
Meant Orlando
@@Hollywood6IX Sweet! I hope to see you guys there! It's gonna be EPIC! I'll be way up in section 214
My APC album ranks:
1) The Thirteenth Step
2) Mer de Noms
3) Eat the Elephant
4) Emotive
Same
I'd swap Mer De Noms and Thirteenth Step
To scale
1) Mer de Noms
2) The Thirteenth Step
...the other stuff
Nirvana also had Incesticide that they released. It was more just B-sides and rarities though.
Hahahahahhhaha this is just makes me smile thank you
cant wait for this one!!!
Lol… “make that a *poll*” 🤣
I think 13th step is their best album. But…… Emotive is amazing as well. I know it’s not original but, damn, it is damn good
Maynard is a lyricist. He writes lyrics and sings and has very little to do with the music. Both Tool and APC is musically composed by the band and Billy respectively. Maynard writes according to the music presented.
This is only true with Tool. He’s involved with the entire musical process with A Perfect Circle and Puscifer.
Sweet! I'll be at that Tool concert too!
Can't wait for y'all to check out Bedlamite off of existencial reckoning. Preferably the live version from arcosante
ER is the best Puscifer album sooo good that live performance is INCREDIBLE!
Mer de Noms is by far the best album. In time you will recognize this subjective fact.
Your right 13th is 2nd somewhat distant
Tool has been allowing phone cams on the last song of the show, as a reward for not using them the rest of the time. So you could actually catch some video.
Yeah he pulled out a shake weight for this one live. He so nasty and funny.
Mer de noms is French for sea of names.
You guys gotta check out Billy's side project "Ashes Divide"

Grand Canyon -- Puscifer
TalkTalk -- A Perfect Circle
Where's black sabbath still waiting been awhile ✌️
This song kills.
Steamy song. I'll give you one guess as to why he keeps rhythmically saying "thinking of you" and then drops right into "sweet revalation". Sploosh.
4° is definitely about butt sex. No question.
This is the only real like meant to be classic album they ever made its even got a concept prog vibe but however you wanna categorize its timeless
This is APC best album in my opinion the opening to this concert was awesome.
Funny, when I saw them, they opened for NIN, and it was their very first live show, And the only thing Maynard said before they played this song was “This song is not about anal sex.” That’s it, and they immediately launched into the song lol.
Ghost Call me little sunshine is pretty good
To those of you that have seen this live do you prefer the water bottle or the bedazzled shake weight?
The shake weight was great. Lol.
Mer de noms, 13th step, emotive/amotion, elephant
I think thats right
You need to do The Package by A Perfect Circle if you haven't already. My favorite of theirs.
Oh I just saw that you did that one, oopsies.
You should check out Grand Canyon for the next Puscifer reaction
Ok so couldnt edit but it would be i sent that midway and you could say i premeturely responded.
Unless I have missed it, you still need to do Ashes Divide - Forever Can Be
Could you please do "rise of the fallen" or "jumpdafuckup" by soulfly? I'm so excited to see soulfly in concert next month! ❤❤
Well well well!!!
I assume this is meant to be 'Thinking Of You'? =D
Lol yea I fixed it
Incesticide by Nirvana isn't considered a studio album??
Down - Stone The Crow
Between the buried and me - Extremophile Elite
Mastodon- the czar
React to one of the these por favor...
Stated by Maynard before they played this live in PHX in 2018…”this song’s about anal sex”.
Marilyn manson: broken needle
♡
Probably the best album if not 13th step imo. As for funny jackoff humor metal, check out a band called BroJob!
"Thinking about you"...lmao
Please react to Magdalena from A Perfect Circle and also Toma from Puscifer!

Mer de Noms... my least favorite too.
Eat the Elephant being #1.

The best album !!! Listen to orestes
Star reacting to some Marilyn Manson or The Mars Volta
Muse - Citizen Erased…… please and thank you 🙏
why not move to twitch?
My favorite APC album is the first. And sorry, their last one is their worst imo.
Emotive... worst. If there has do be a designation!
And for the record... proofread your entries, kiddos. 🤦♂️
Lol
Mer de noms is 100x better than Emotive…
13th Step and Eat the Elephant all day. This album is epic and got me into the band but the others are much more pleasing to my ears
😬
