They are hiring new nurses? Great! Hire a new grad. Orient them for a week. Stick them on the floor. Leave them to flounder like a fish. They'll eventually quit or be fired.

If you have seven patients and one is on a bedpan for 6 hours did she say? well, then, you're not rounding on your patients like you're supposed to...IT's the RN's fault...imho....thats just negligent...And as an RN...let me say that ALL RNS NEED TO PUT YOUR FUCKING PHONES AWAY and pay attention to your patients....I see it all the time...I watched a colleague on his phone while is patient expired.....But hey, what do I know....

RN here. Unfortunately this has been the case with hospitals all over the country. Corporate takeover of hospitals has been the downfall of the healthcare industry in this country, it has prioritized greed over patient care and we are seeing the long term effects of it. I believe there is a difference between profit and greed at the expense of people.

My 88 year old mom recently had a seizure and so I called 911. Faced with a choice of taking her to Valley Medical Center or Good Sam, I mistakenly chose Good Sam. They are nothing like they used to be. Very short staffed, some of the ER staff are rude, and the bedside care is virtually non-existent (except for a couple of good nurses). It came back that CT's were negative, but that she had a UTI (after a few hours of waiting even after getting an ER bed). The attending ER Doctor couldn't spend more than 5 minutes with us, and so I was left having to ask the nurse some followup questions....so they were like she doesn't need to be admitted, not even for observation! I should have insisted but I settled for us staying in the ER overnight instead (just in case). Get this, they call me the night after discharge and tell me that my mom should come back for another blood culture draw to verify the results of the first one, what? So here we go again, but this time we were stuck with a nurse that couldn't draw blood very effectively, leaving my mom with more arm bruising, she was very upset with this. A gentleman nurse took over and was much more sympathetic and better at taking blood draws, so I appreciated him. They gave her another round of intravenous antibiotics and we left with a prescription for more around 4am the next morning. This place has gone DOWNHILL

I was a patient at the Good Samaritan in downtown Los Angeles and after getting an x-ray while awaiting the radiologist to read it and waiting on the doctor to get anxiety medication I was attacked by 12 security guards and a Male nurse David Lamas while I was using the restroom on December 19th, 2023 @ the emergency room. It was an unprovoked attack on my person at which security personnel stole both of my cellphones after bursting into the locked bathroom that they kept unlocking. They knocked after the first breach and left yet when I opened the door a security officer punched me in the face. I was a patient at that very moment yet they unprofessionally and with direct and undue cause attacked and handcuffed me leaving after holding me down as the Male nurse kicked me repetitively in the top of my head to where I almost lost consciousness. Being a military veteran I have struggled with the way to respond to this especially after the hospital staff and security staff at that location lied on an official police report saying that I attacked them which landed me in L.A. County Jail for 7 months. This atrocity due to the notorious fact that reveals a disgusting pattern of disgrace and unprofessionalism. Legal actions are being sought and compensation will be collected. Negative P.R. is not good P.R. for any reason. I was unjustly held in jail and the abuse of position did not stop there. I am not the only one either. Asking or seeking medical help for any means should not be meet at all with violence or lack of empathy no matter where a hospital is located. And most definitely the covering up of this behavior is also a gross injustice and a professional stain. There was no reason that this action against me should have been allowed and the information has been sorted. Despite being a Marine Corps veteran I am a person and hospitals are in the people business. Do they not respect the oaths that they say? If not why work there and on top of all that attempt to testify in court trying to place the blame on me thus victimizing me more than once and then I'm placed in jail for a crime that they committed against me?! This is not okay I will NOT allow any entity to stain, disrupt, or disrespect my character for any matter. I am going to pursue this because it hasn't just happened to me and I question the checks and balances on this issue especially after they charged my medical insurance on top of all this. I won't take the law into my own hands....I am taking them the court.

My daughter and I almost died in that labor and delivery unit thanks to an unnecessary forceps delivery. I was then told to, “get over it” when I couldn’t walk due to the pain. Three months and a second opinion later I was rushed in for reconstructive surgery. And other 8 months later I had to have another reconstructive surgery, this time at the, University of Washington. 3 years later I am about to have my third reconstruction. My life was ruined in that labor and delivery unit all because my doctor was impatient that my labor was lasting longer than 24 hours. Every one of those OB’s including her were let go but the real damage to the people unfortunate enough to birth at that unit in the last decade. Pretty awful that I find this story exactly 10 days after the statue to limitations of my case had run out. I moved from Puyallup exactly a year ago, when this story came out. Bummer..
**atleast these documents are validating enough and the surgeons and doctors I have met ever since have been real angels on earth.

They need to hire more nurses period. What''s their yearly package (salary+benefits)150k? 200k? For 5 million that's 20-25 new nurses for the hospital that this hospital doesnt wanna hire.

So many days/nights in KP where we don’t have break relief, we have 30-40 patients on the floor and just 1 nursing assistant, yet the expectation and pressure on the nurses/pcts/ua is really high. Somedays i really wish I can duplicate myself. Don’t get me started about the KP anms/managers/directors. Useless as a dull needle. All they do is intimidate and harass staff. They are in denial of what’s happening. Hopefully they get investigated next. How do we contact those assembly people? I have stories to tell. If you see good patient care? Its because the floor staff from RNs/UA/PCTs bend over backwards almost to the point of breaking. KP is just as greedy.

I was a patient at Good Samaritan Hospital around Easter I was there for 3 days the care was the most horrible experience I there they couldn't get anything over me because I use to work there little over 20 yrs ago
    1) I came in at the ER when I walked in I was in so much pain as I understand protocol who goes first well I sat in the lobby for about 1 1|2 hrs then brought me in the back then sat there for an hour I could you please put me on a gurney they didn't have one then I was them pts in rooms they didn't look like it was urgent so they finally put in the gurney I was crying the pain was bad a scale to 1-10 I was a 20 they finally did a E-RAY then a CT they saw that my small intestine was twisted and kinked.
    2) I was admitted to the 5th floor they need to put a NG Tube down my nose they could do it so they call a ICU nurse he couldn't do so they call the Dr told them don't put in
    3) So the 5th floor was not clean the restroom I shared was so dirty
    4) the staff that was very good and concerned about me was the Director name Sunny she was excellent and a nurse nurse was a Caucasian she had her hair In a bunch.
4)So finally I went home when I work at Good Samaritan over 20 yrs you could say we were family now Good Samaritan Hospital has gone down in pt care so bad

All hospitals made a lot of profit during the pandemic, but at the same time lower salaries for MDs. Go figure, why they would treat highly educated medical professionals like minimum wage worker. With all due respect to the minimum wage workers.

You know, that’s so rude. Just because you put “with all due respect to the minimum wage worker”, doesn’t make your statement less condescending and demeaning to people who earn minimum wage. Don’t make this about your doctor salary.

I would give them 4.5/5. If they are profitable, good for them. They can’t complain then they are short of funds. The time I spent there went by without any real reportable reason to cause alarm. One thing I did notice and can recall is that they are often bound by established protocols. So while one staff member seemed very reticent on how my stay there was to take shape, there was nothing he could do other than express a sentiment of condolence as they are bound by how things are to progress. (This was in direct response during meeting for a discharge plan and aftercare.) They have a mature almond tree planted near their campus, I gathered some there while during my stay.
