NEVER drop leads with leadcore helicopter set ups! The fish needs to pull against some resistance to pop the top bead off, try it for yourself with a hand test in water, so if you get cut off after you've hooked a fish, that fish will be towing around leadcore and very often they'll head to snags...DEAD CARP...
Even if you've got 50lb line you can get cut off.
Think about it lads and lasses, fish safe.

I found with the helicopter set up putting half a pva nugget lightly stuck on the bead helps cushion it on the cast if u want to cast a little mesh bag or stringer with ur rig , the rig don't bust the bead off

Nice video. With the helicopter set up, not only should the bead slide off the silicon easily but you must test whether the bead can pass over the connection knot between the leadcore and the mainline. That's why the korda no trace beads are very safe.

I Dont agree on dumping the lead in the lake not only as most of us anglers are not funded or sponsored by companies that give you the leads for pennies or free. And dumping your lead just leads to more crap in the lake. The plus side is if you do get snapped of the fish is not dragging a lead all round the lake causing damage to the fish.

Never used a chopper never will. And I use 3” fluoro rigs (so stiff) on both inline and lead clips no problems at all

ive just returned to carping(boy got the bug) if lead clips are old school, im ancient. i use a lead straight on the mainline(not clips) a small bead to stop it hitting the knot to the hooklength. the hooklength i use is amnesia(from my sea fishing kit) i am using the ronnie system on the hook end and dental floss to fix bait. hardly ever get a wrap around and catch most times out.

If it’s not good to shove the rubber tail all the way over the lead clip why do manufacturers make the tail on the lead clip so long? Surely it would make sense to shorten the length of the tail to only allow the required grip and release to take away the human element for fish safety?

@Dean Bayliss FISHING TV don't be ridiculous! It's not leads that tether fish it's trailing line! The reasoning behind dropping the lead is to better ensure direct contact with the fish and has nothing to do with fish safety. Maybe it's you that shouldn't be fishing!

  • @colinsillis8008

Mate lead clips are designed to come off even if pushed right on. Normal anglers can't afford to drop leads every cast or every fish. Get a grip lol
