Still love my 26" wheel bikes. Despite being in the industry and having the pick of the modern stable my two most ridden bike are still 26" wheeled frames. I think your memories are playing tricks on you guys with droppers. I got my Maverick Speedball back in 2005 (it came out in 2004) and the old Gravity Dropper (came out 2003) were popular around the same time. The Crank Brothers Joplin, Specialized Command, KS i900, AMP and RASE posts were all out before Reverb. Some of these posts gained quite a following and the likes of the KS line is still popular to this day. I remember back then droppers becoming really popular in the Megavalanche races in the mid to late 2000s. The Rockshox Reverb was pretty late to the game really and pretty problematic early on to boot.
3 Things about bike-lights. - If you import them and they cause a fire, you as the importer might be liable (obviously, this depends on your country and also obviously this is far more problematic if you import something like a hoverboard) - Switch the helmet light off when you are no longer on the trail. In general, be mindful where it shines. - I found a turbo button really helpful. Your eyes adapt to the dark, so you need less light around 500 - 750 lumens should do fine, but then you can pump it up to 1500-2000 lumens for a brief moment and the night will become day. This really helps with visibility.
Have an odd setup right now on my 2010 DB Sorrento hardtail. It's kinda fun actually. 26" frame, 29" fork, 27.5 rear, 29" front wheel. Doddy!!!! 🎉 Check out the new Zaskar FS. My new ride. Lol. Santa Cruz bought GT. 😊😢
Haha I have 2 bikes, a road bike and a mountain bike. What is a 2018 YT Capra CF classed as? I'm pretty sure the manufacturers just try and make stuff up so you will need a different bike 😂😂😂 Im still a bit unsure of the strength of a carbon bike for off road and i worry about the Capra on largeish drops although at my age i definitely wont ride it hard enough to stress it but i do fall off quite often 😂😂
The MTB’s of the past are hideous! What were we thinking 😂 My first impression of the 29” wheel was like clown wheels because at the time 26” was still the norm. But over time I could see it like a 4x4 Jeep or truck with large wheels. A true off-road vehicle is going to have larger wheels than say an SUV that’s really only meant to occasionally go off on dirt roads.
