I get the dark places. I did the 10K, my first race. Thing is, 10 months ago I had just been out on a first run after 4 weeks off to get a hip flexor issue some rest. That first run I fell in a pothole and pretty much done in my ankle ligaments. Now 10 months on, I’ve did the GSR 10K. Those dark places early on in the healing, then when I could get “running” my times were dreadfully slow. Now I’m on where I was pre injury, plus two or three minutes. I am now aiming for more next year, the train down starts Wednesday for the year. I usually take 6 weeks to train down.
2025, I now plan on taking at least that 24 seconds off my 1:14.24 time in the 10K. Might train up towards a Marathon distance. Thank god my training route has hills, lots off them, makes St Vincent Street look easy to my eyes.
Rest recover and come back strong next year!!!
