Hey, fiberglass tubas aren't fancy. And they don't exactly have the tone of a contra. But, to be that loud, and relatively in tune with each other, and to sound as one with that much distance - with fiberglass sousaphones - kudos to you! I'm impressed. :)
VSU's tuba section is not "Loud" They're just Extremely Good. LOL folks under estimate them because they play on the Fiberglass ..but. they will NOT get Brass because it does not fit with their Style & Music .. they would have to Rewrite all Their Music to fit with the Basses....That was stated by Lawrence Jackson Himself .. TSU and JSU stopped playing on Fiberglass in the 90's. AAMU used Both Brass and Fiberlass ..
I'm from the "S" 89 tuba section and it takes alot of nuttss to blow over all that brass.People really dont understand how loud and powerful SU TUBAS are especially with fiberglass. Look at the tuba solos of all schools with brass and TFT is just as loud if not louder. The way we blow brass wouldn't fit SU's format.
man SU tubas are beast! but man they need some brass tubas instead of the old funky fibergass one's (even though i think KING is the best brand of fiberglass tubas)
Hey, It was Hard for us to see, So I asked my Crab Brother to direct for me. Heck I wanted to play for my last game anyway.... SOrry for the laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaate response. lol
Miles tubas are no better than SU and Bodacious get their asses handed to them by VSU Horsepower every year at the Labor Day Classic. SU tubas are as good as any around. I agree with rather having brass ones.
How did my section (Bodacious) get brought up on this SOUTHERN video??? NSU will never ever see SU so idk why people even bring that shit up in a convo
not why. THe most popular reason is: It's tradition. As it is with everything else Southern. Why are yall always out of tune and loud?! Answer: Its tradition. Smh... BUT Tubas sound good to be on that fiberglass. They rarely play fanfares [and usually dont sound great when they do].
wtf r u talkin about bodacious will crush southern any day. the band overall will crush them. u must b n the swac or sumthing. fibertrash is not better than metal at all bro.
Nobody's hatin... this shit sound like trash! Fuck getting new tuba's.... how about new Tuba player's!!! I'm tired of people blaming the sound on the horn.... Alcorn tuba's play on fiberglass(well... they used to... *wink wink*) and never sounded like that!
