We need to drop this mentality. also I think SA really needs to step up its nation building agenda. Mike seem to be talking to himself here with Sol as a listener. What was the point of calling Sol here? When he was called on the Poscast and Chill, he was asked questions and given chance to talk.
Mr Mike. I accept the plurality of views, as much as I do not necessarily agree with views themselves. BEE (on paper) remains the best model to address ills of the past - the very ills that were deliberately racially oriented. This is not physiological matter Sir, we know how it is to be born behind the system. I humbly challenge you to present me with a model that can take a chunk of black people out of the status quo.
Honestly Mike. There was no need of bringing Sol Phenduka here, and calling this an Interview. You could have done the show on your own at this point. You just kept going on and on about your extreme bias opinions, that are leaning towards privilege and not allowing your guest to unpack his. Especially on the issue of BEE and market controls. Sol has very meaningful contributions on this topic as someone who’s more exposed to the people (young & black) on the grown whom are equally capable of competing within respective fields, but whom are systematically excluded. BEE(if done correctly ) is the only hope for them to reach greater markets and expand their skills and capabilities. BEE(if done correctly ) is the only policy that protects “blacks” against foreign invasion, and ensure inclusion in Both business and professional sectors. We cannot turn a blind eye to the fact that these big entities you speak highly of had the biggest support from government coffers and the injustice that lead to that was far more baise to The now BEE. We need to play on a fair level field. There are many black young excelling individuals out there who can even do greater than the current status quo, whom are just not given the right opportunity and thats a fact.
I totally agree with you on that one. I hate how everybody believes that BEE was only bad and not pointing the fact that it created a lot of black wealth which is often monitored.
@@gideonmonaise9901 bro BEE is underrated. Ive seen it changing many families in the black community. Especially also in the professional sector. It’s always painted bad and rotten apples are given spotlight. But in actual reality it has helped a lot of black deserving individuals.

I disagree, the state can play a huge part in education, because it can set standards. I lived under a Labour govt in the UK where schools were failing because they could not be bothered to hold schools accountable and conversative govt who said schools and the principal need to achieve a certain standard or else the principle will lose his/her job and education turned around under them. The Education department needs to step in harshly where there is failure. All schools in the UK whether in rich areas or poor will send letters around advising parents of PTA meetings, those who cannot make it, other appointments are arranged for them. When I was in school in the late 80's in SA my Biology, History and Business Economics teachers would never accept below a 60% pass rate not even for class tests. They would make your life hell. The history teacher will make you write assignments over and over again until he got the pass rate he wanted. DA is in charge of basic education and they can set standards if they choose to do so. DA also has an agenda same as ANC because education for the poor is failing with few doing Maths at matric level.
Soooooo the guest got level 7 in Mathematics because our Mathematics is extremely easy as compared to the Zimbabwean Mathematics? By the way, private schools are not all the same, he is referring to a tiny few private schools.

Stopped listening to this when it got to BEE coz Mike cant really speak to someone who is really clueless about what BEE was addressing because the response would be exactly how he responded because of lack of information on the matter.
Why are South Africans POOR compared to Europeans? According to the United Nations, the population of Europe grew from approximately 400 million in 1900 to around 747 million in 2020. This represents a percentage increase of about 86.75% over the 120-year period. According to the United Nations, the population of South Africa grew from approximately 5.1 million in 1900 to around 60.6 million in 2020. This represents a percentage increase of about 1087% over the 120-year period. The answer: Over population is the cause of poverty in South Africa. Too many people for the food, water, electricity, air, land, jobs, houses, schools, hospitals etc. Yet no political leader recognises the cause of poverty and not one intends to address the scourge of over population. There's no hope for the eradication of poverty without population planning. China's one child per women policy lifted 60 million people out of abject poverty. When will SA learn from China?
I do not agree with Mike on BEE. His perspective on BEE and that black people are not learning much because of BEE implementation. The roll out is captured but it doesnt mean that the BEE can work.
44:00 maybe Mike is like other wh1tes who don't want to understand that when we say they are gatekeepers who won't allow anyone prosper when trying to take a share of their bread easy example (Kanye west Yeezes are being denied market platform unless they sell from adidas) thats what Mike is failing to understand
Wait wait, cashiers are not white because that's not right for the market? Which market? Do white people not buy groceries? Or does the market see black people as labour? And also if BEE was WEE, you'd still find people who get a cheque every month and sit on their back. The point, for the sort of person who is truly entrepreneurial would use those funds partially to live and partially to ascertain some of those "means of production" which have historically been kept out of the hands of black people. It does not make sense to jump to such conclusions about people and their state of mind. To Say that means of production is no longer relevant ignores the fact that those means remain in the same hands to this day. Which black person, for example, owns the means or even the capital to produce their own smartphone? There are people with the skills to produce those here but a lot of the time what they need, and what funding is meant for, is to acquire those very means of production. We still live in an incredibly unequal society where the vantage point of the few looks bright and green and cheerful and the vantage point of the majority is bleek and chaotic. Do not assume that your view is the only truth because it is your personal lived experience.
@tearyb i think it's not about sounding American but it is nice to speak any language the way it's supposed to be,either Sesotho,Isixhosa,Sepedi, not only English.
I find Mike’s assertion that BEE creates a psychological effect on Black people, making them feel they are not capable of succeeding without affirmative action, both disingenuous and ahistorical. His argument conveniently ignores the structural advantages historically afforded to white people, whose relative affluence today is not simply the result of hard work. Similarly, the economic challenges faced by Black people cannot be reduced to a lack of effort. Mike fails to address the enduring psychological and material consequences of apartheid and pre-apartheid policies, which deliberately ensured that white people succeeded while systematically denying opportunities to Black people. By omitting this critical context, his argument unfairly shifts the focus away from the systemic inequities that BEE aims to address.
I totally disagree on Mikes opinion on BEE. He is asking for a Shoprite competition that was invented by a black person. Kanjani when the black people were oppressed when all these companies came into existence.
Mike Your Ghana South Korea comparison is void of one Major consideration and that is the people attitude and work ethic . I have been to China on several occasions for business and on thinking why the Chinese are sucessfull one thing is the Elephant in the room and that is Chinese are not lazy and are always busy doing something constructive and productive Where as Africans are inclined to sit in the sun and bake their goodies and rely on someone else to do what is required .African men traditionally rely on their women to do the work . Africans also do not have the problem solving abilities which Asians naturally possess
Now your argument is void of the fact that Africans to this day still suffer under Global imperialism, and in their own countries, have no access to the key factors of production, AKA, Land, Labour and Capital, to build any real infrastructure or Establish any real industry, hence unemployment and idleness are common amongst our people. China and S.K received massive investment from the West through the Marshall plan in S.K, and the creation of horrible Land and labour laws in China to encourage multi nationals to invest in the production of consumer products. Hence everything is made in China, and hence their economy and levels of production grew so rapidly.
So true. Just look at municipal road workers/ or fixing burst pipes, one guy will be digging with spade or pick, the other 9 will stand around chatting. Their mouths do all the work🤣🤣🤣

I totally disagree on Mikes opinion on BEE. He is asking for a Shoprite competition that was invented by a black person. Kanjani when the black people were oppressed when all these companies came into existence.
Mike says a lot of nonsense sometimes, the BEE question. I should start calling him, Mike shame
What we need is a Donald Trump. Any volunteers?
Maybe in orania, by the way "we" as in ?
We don't need any more right-wingers to add to the apartheid beneficiaries vagabonding our streets.
Utter BS
So true. Just look at municipal road workers/ or fixing burst pipes, one guy will be digging with spade or pick, the other 9 will stand around chatting. Their mouths do all the work🤣🤣🤣
