So all the engineer had to do was punch in Eminem's vocals at the end so he could re-do that line and the verse was finished. Back then they were recording on 2 inch tape, so once you recorded over something it’s gone forever. Eminem's in the booth waiting and the engineer backs the tape up all the way to the beginning of the verse and punches Eminem in. Eminem realized the engineer's in the wrong spot and Eminem couldn’t hear any of his vocals so he starts waving his arms and yelling in the mic to try to get the engineer's attention. He doesn’t notice so Eminem runs into the control room through a cloud of smoke and yells “Yo, I wanted to keep those vocals” the engineer just looked at him and said “My bad man…you wanna hit this?” the first half of the verse was gone. Eminem re-recorded it but said we should have heard the original take that shit was way better Eminem also said there was a verse where Stan got out of the water. He escaped and came to Eminem's house to kill him and then Eminem had to kill him first but Eminem missed him. Then Stan was in the hospital for like three weeks and was pissed off that Eminem didn’t write him get well cards and shit like that, so he came to kill Eminem again and in the last verse finally Eminem just blew his head off Macaulay Culkin was going to play Stan originally. Eminem said “We were looking at a few different people to be Stan. We were looking at Macaulay Culkin to be Stan, but he ended up having prior arrangements, I guess, so he couldn’t do it”
