All I Ever Wanted [Queen's Reprise] - Prince Of Egypt OST
Song performed by Amick Byram and Linda Dee Shayne)
LYRICS:
Gleaming in the moonlight
Cool and clean and all I've ever known
All I ever wanted
Sweet perfumes of incense
Graceful rooms of alabaster stone
All I ever wanted
This is my home
With my father, mother, brother
Oh so noble, oh so strong
Now I am home
Here among my trappings and belongings
I belong
And if anybody doubts it
They couldn't be more wrong
I am a sovereign prince of Egypt
A son of the proud history that's shown
Etched on ev'ry wall
Surely this is all I ever wanted
All I ever wanted
All I ever wanted
Queen
This is your home, my son
Here the river brought you
And it's here the river meant
To be your home
Now you know the truth, love
Now forget and be content
When the gods send you a blessing
You don't ask why it was sent
this song explains the feeling of going through an identity crisis more than spoken lines ever could.
...wait
This is me... and I don't even know who me is
Happiness is relative and they don’t have the stress we go through the lack of things they have has given them inner peace and it’s they don’t know what we have so their ignorance has given them bliss and some of us have problems that ignorance can’t solve so until you know everyone’s problems and walked a mile in their shoes don’t criticize them
"Surely this is all I ever wanted" simultaneously evokes confidence and doubt. Absolutely amazing.
BakPak Gaming have your right amygdala removed then we will talk if we don’t have hardships in our lives
This movie is too good to be known so little , sorry if others don't agree but its easily in Lion Kings level maybe even beyond it
Abel R.E. I would have agreed until I read "maybe even beyond it" on your own there
Yes! I am a lion king fanatic and honestly I missed the boat on this movie so I kept saying the lion king was number one. When this movie came on HBO and I finished watching I started crying. This movie is on par with the lion king. I will always have a place for the lion king since that was the first movie I watched as a kid so that will always be number one but prince of egypt is right next to it.
Abel R.E. I personally agree with you on this movie being beyond Lion King’s level, but I think, not in terms of fame and legacy (Lion King outranks Prince of Egypt because I believe it’s quite underrated) but in terms of the movie’s overall message, theme and exposure to dark history or a “everything is not good magic” kind of deal (Hunchback of Notre Dame did also have this but in my personal opinion, Prince of Egypt is better than Hunchback of Notre Dame).
I personally think that religion is a unique theme to use in animation, but with something so sensitive and somehting that a lot of people in this Earth deem valuable, Freamworks managed to execute the theme throughout the movie so damn good that I believe any Christian - *ANYONE* would tear up a little, feel this surge of faith suddenly frenzying inside your veins, and have a faith restored moment within themselves.
Yeah I honestly do think it's better than the lion king by a country mile
@@andromedaiscoming185 I think this is better than the Lion King. It doesn't have fart jokes and unnecessary comedic relief like that movie does. I still adore the Lion King, but it's not a perfect film.
Not only is this movie and EVERY SINGLE DAMN SONG so brilliantly written and so moving and compelling, this song is ESPECIALLY brilliant because how it inverts the typical 'I Want' song in musical theatre terms. This music is how I was unknowingly introduced to Schwartz, and this movie is possibly his best and most compelling work. I NEVER tire of listening to these songs.
who is Schwartz? singer or composer?
wifi luke composer along with Hans zimmer Val kimmer did his voice acting and singing
Same for mee😍😍😍😍 i love this song im never tired of this
Val Kimmer DID NOT do the singing voice of Moses. It was someone else
I'm just saying... Zimmer is a beast
This song is so sad because you can hear how happy he was there. The palace IS his home, Ramses IS his brother. However, he just learned that the people he was taught to look down on are his people- any of the men he or his father or brother ever mistreated could have been him.
This has to be one of the best , most emotional scene in the movie.
Paolo Los Santos huh?
Nah, the Burning Bush is definitely more emotionally impactive
Hell yeah!
Almost all of the songs in this movie are super powerful. I love it.
I get chills every time I hear this....
Josh Sauer 0:37 me too.
I wish it was longer
1:27
especially with the crescendo
Felt like this when I found out I was adopted they treated me like a prince gave me whatever I wanted I even went back home and stared at the house the way he looked at the palace I panicked
I forgot how intense and empowering this movie was
was?!
This is a great example of using music to enhance the story and emotions instead of shoving it in just to keep the kids distracted for a while.
cough frozen. but instead the story was half assedly shaped around the songs
That's one of the biggest faults of modern animated musicals. Using songs to not just keep kids entertained and distracted, but as a plot device to speed up the story. It's okay here and there, but when most of the story's plot is being carried by songs (as many animated musicals tend to feature), it all but destroys the integrity of the character development and the plot itself. I am so, so, so thankful for the expert way this film was created and executed.
The intro music until 0:40 gets me every time. Too beautiful for words.
2 years late to reply but couldn't agree more!
Absolutely agree.
This song is either my favorite or second favorite
Yes!! Same here 😢
I really appreciate the breathing in between the lyrics at the beginning.
When I listen to the soundtrack I always add it. . .even though it’s not in it 😂
It makes more sense in the scene. Imagine the immense anxiety, realizing you belong with the very people you were taught to oppress.
i wish it was so much longer....
THATS WHAT SHE SAID !
I came here looking for this comment.
Mirakelbrorsan me to
there will never be an animated film this good again. this movie is a masterpiece
Amen🙌🏾👏🏾👑❤️
@@develishbond2g538 I mean yeah. Most movies in general have a special place in people's heart or mind.
Facts
this movie and soundtrack is waay better than modern dreamworks movies.
i have this feeling hollywood is losing its grip on what is considered genuine beauty..
I absolutely agree with you.
Amen to that
The Sole Nerd exactly I watch prince of egypt on a regular basis and I have for atleast a decade and a half maybe a bit more
It lost it a long time ago.
Dreamworks was never in it for art’s sake
Incredibly underrated soundtrack, Personally think its one of the best movie soundtracks ever
I agree I honestly think dreamworks back then with their 2D movies were WAY better
The Sole Nerd when I was a little kid (3-5) I would watch prince of egypt atleast 5 times a week and I still own the vhs tape of both this and Joseph king of dreams
Marina Syndulla yeah 99.9% of the 3-d dreamworks movies suck but there’s atleast one or two of them that are pretty good
@@starwarzfan71 How to train your dragon, kung fu panda, puss in boots, shrek and megamind are amazing.
Dave Turner haven’t seen any of them, I thought it was all just one big mockery of martial arts, never saw it, I can’t remember the last time I saw shrek, megamind was okay (abominable is a good movie)
I don't drive home from work, I run home from work singing this song.
the instrumental is amazing 😩
I love the intensity and passion in his voice...so haunting
I just realized, the way his sisters hair was with the tear, was the last sight he had of his mother... fucking hell this movie was brilliantly done.
This is such an amazing film. It was free of religious propaganda, and it just told the story. And good God, the soundtrack! Just wonderful.
Your comment gave me an idea.... perhaps so Bible stories should be portrayed that way if they were to appeal to a larger audience :)
That’s what God intended not for movies/songs to throw his name every sentence he wanted to be mysterious he wants to be shown as a mysterious figure that helped his children fulfill there destiny and pushed them in the right direction
@@Ph4r4oh_444g like the lord of the rings.
@TheCrazyKid1381 I'm sensing much salt from this comment.
@@mathguy8685 He's right, though. Christian media is full of regurgitating artists saying the same things in very similar formats. Prince of Egypt is a masterpiece, as all works of art striving to represent the Creator should be.
I do hope it changes.

I AM A SOVEREIGN PRINCE OF EGYPT.
I can dream...
Just realised that when the sister looked at him it was framed exactly as his Mothers last goodbye....holy shit this movie is good
Am I the only one who used to think that that was really his hair?
RIGHT!?!
Nope! I remember seeing him take the wig off for the first time when I was little, and being so disappointed.

Love that they didnt sugar coat this animation. Literally! the skins actually brown and darker shades as well. kinna has a more realistic feel when watching it since Egypt is in Africa.
Never noticed that until now.. I couldn't agree with you more
+Egyptian Hamster Guess where black people are from? Africa.
+Egyptian Hamster thank you but I already knew that I was just stating the obvious
+Egyptian Hamster my point if you were paying attention was that in other films with the setting being Egypt, directors arent realistic with their actors being brown - skinned they have actors that are are very light almost white-skinned. which is in unrealistic since Egypt is in one of the hottest parts of the world.
+Egyptian Hamster middle eastern, nubian or Greek you mean. I'm assuming this doesn't matter since tradition mattered more back then rather than ethnicity.
Did anyone else watch this as a kid and die a little inside when they show the babies being taken?
Still one of my favourite movies, I even watch this with my son now and it's also one of his favourites
Yeah I did too, I was actually really upset when in Moses' heiroglyph dream they throw them into the Nile with the crocodiles but I also liked how they didn't strip the Pharoah(s) of actually being a villain by keeping it out of he film.
I still have the vhs copy of the prince of Egypt as well as Joseph king of dreams
This song really helps my faith rn. It just goes to show, Moses thought he had everything he wanted but God took the reigns and he ended up doing greater things than he could have ever imagined. And He wants to do the same for all of us!!? I can't wait to see what God has in store for me. Even if it means giving up the life I have now...
God has a way of turning people around and making the greatest of the least
Wow that was beautiful
I may not believe in God, but this movie was super awesome.
Do you think the dream he has was sent to him by YAWEH or were they memories that stirred up from meeting Maryam?
Amen
i watched this amazing movie again... on the weekends.
i was born in 1992 (now in college)
the movie was released in 1998... 6 years after my birth...
and during this beautiful scene i teared up.
WHY can't they make movies like this anymore..?
amazing song that sends that chill through by body..
you don't need to be religious to appreciate the beauty of this scene.
I was like five years old when I saw this and it has always brought me to tears
you have great appreciation
Daniel Watson this 🎥 was released in 1998, when I was 1 year old.
Why did you cry
This is one of the most beautiful animated movies ever made. I wish more hand drawn movies like these were being made. But I have to say, for a cartoon character, Moses is a good looking man.
7mandoblu YES HE IS SUPER GOOD LOOKING I ALWAYS THOUGHT SO TOO!!!!! 😂😂😂
He was one of my first crushes growing up haha
i totally agree !! this movie was so beautifully done. from the characters, the backgrounds, to the soundtrack. it’s a masterpiece
This song pulled at my heart so much as a child... Now it makes me cry as an adult. the power of music!!!
I hear you brother I’m a 29 year old man now I use to watch this all the time when I was 7 years old and it makes me sob like a bby now I’m glad my mom showed us these god loving movies my kids will watch the same when I have some
Every time I come home from work and school.
Lmaoo me too
Dan K 0:33-0:37, 0:42 me too.
😂😂
I think moses is paralleling all of our lives. He was running from God, trying to convince himself of the way he's living and in the possessions he has, that he's ok without God. Once he embraced God, he went on to become one of the most greatest men in history.
Nemo Tango actually this should be aiming towards the wealthy/rich.
Agreed 10000000000% Nemo!
I agree, hearing the line "all I ever wanted" reminds me of that verse in Hebrews 11 (I think) that Moses instead of staying to enjoy the fleeting pleasures of Egypt, chose to suffer along with God's people. Speaks to me very deeply on whether choosing the world or to take up the cross and follow Christ.
What sticks out to me is how Moses had to humble himself first. He asked God “Who am I?” Because he realized he was truly nothing compared to the night of God. It was then when he had a broken heart and contrite spirit that God shaped him into the man he was supposed to be and used him as a wonderful tool.
Also anyone can relate to Moses thinking they’re not capable of changing their lives. Moses was a stutterer, he had anxiety, he wouldn’t think straight in times of stress and anger (forgetting the staff having God’s power when cornered by the Egyptian army, or smashing the Commandments when he saw the Jewish people creating pagan statues). He was FAR from perfect, but he was CHOSEN.
God this is my FAVORITE song from this movie. Every time I listen to it, I rethink my life lmao. The melody is so graceful! It's beyond comprehension. Next to the lion king this is my favorite movie of all time!
This is song is very underated. It gives you the feel of someone who's world has shattered, everything they knew is a lie. You can see the pain is his eyes realizing he is one of the slaves when he accidently bumps in to one. In this song, he tries hard to convince himself how he's a Prince of Egypt, but he know's he is one of the slaves. Love this song and this movie, both so underated
This song resonates with people like me who are on the exhausting journey of authenticity.
Not only did the singer sing but he voice acted so well through this song, it was like a perfect pantomime piece
Dude...I'm not all religious and whatnot, but I fucking love this movie and would watch it over and over again if I still the VHS
Alice Michael it's on Netflix now
I pray you come to Christ and turn from sin in Jesus name.Amen.
@@whydidyouwin9981 Preach! ✝️🤍😇
the intro to this song is so beautiful
Let’s face it, who doesn't want to be a sovereign prince of Egypt?
The music is so emotional and powerful! I love this movie but this song is my favorite the way the orchestra music is composed to build up and I just love the melody! its beautiful that it repeats in the beginning and end. The way this song is mixed with "Let my people go" is great. I watch this film at least once every couple of months it never gets old brings back my childhood. Even people that don't believe the story of Moses were impacted by this movie. JUST WONDERFUL
I'm apache this scene always get to me because I use to not know who I was but know I am fully aware and as a full blood native American it's an honor being here in this planet with you all god bless you
This song is legit so perfect. Even as a child I absolutely adored it. UGH IT'S JUST SO PERFECT. IT MATCHES THE EMOTION BEAUTIFULLY!!
THIS WAS MY HOME
The first 40 seconds are just mesmerizing.
The Prince Of Egypt is such a powerful movie
I've watch this movie so many times that I can tell that the audio in this video is higher than the one in the movie.
This is by far my favorite song of the movie. So much is contained in one song, especially with the unspoken doubts under the lyrics. He's trying to convince himself as he sings. And the instrumentals beneath! Hans Zimmer at his finest.
The whole soundtrack to this movie was phenomenal..
How the hell this movie didn't win the Oscars of best soundtrack?
I wish the song was longer. its so beautiful
This is one of my favorite films. The whole movie was just beautiful and the soundtrack is amazing. 😍

As a homesick Egyptian, I LOVE this song :D
Modern Egyptians has nothing to do with Ancient Egypt lol..
How does that even remotely matter to a Egyptian who’s homesick dude?
Eric DeVries bru your statement make no god damn sense
Eric DeVries luck you left??? Like what dude?
Eric DeVries oh ok word. Sorry for the hostility. I get angry when I get confused.
Way better than Exodus movie
Cat Lock I kept expecting Christian Bale to start singing when i was watching it, it almost ruined it.
Omg i saw that movie yesterday on HBO crap pure crap
Ultimate AngelOfFire I agree with this.
i agree
I watched this film yesterday on Netflix. I was so excited. I feel like I was always checking if it was on there and now it is! One of my favourite childhood films.
Omg the palace is so beautiful
THIS IS ONE OF THE UNDERRATED MOVIES OF ALL TIME. I still love this movie's soundtracks, and in my opinion, they are more meaningful, moving, and catchy than those of the Disney's.
I love how his sister is portrayed similar to his mother's last frame in 0:05.
THISSS
I noticed
I watched it yesterday too on Netflix hah when I first saw it on there, I laughed at the memory, but then I saw the all-star cast, and decided to watch it and was amazed by how good it was.. very high production value!
My favorite song from this feature. Beautiful vocal. Beautiful lyric. Just wow.
Chills, I know this is going to sound crazy but every time this song pops in my head I know change is coming…I’ll be singing this song thinking I’m home this is my home where I am suppose to be BUT I know deep down I feel it in my soul I’m suppose to be somewhere else…and when I sing this song I know change is coming, because no matter how hard I try to convince myself that I’m happy or that is my home , I know it’s not where I am ment to really be. Just like Moses, he tried and tried to convince himself that this is his life, where he is meant to be & yet it wasn’t…he knew he was called for somewhere else something more, that change was coming. I sang this song today and I KNOW that change is coming for me again….
Beautifully said 👏🏽
This is what I was hearing while visiting Karnak´s temple and Luxor´s temple, the hieroglyphs still retain colour after 3000 years. One of the most amazing experiences of my whole life.
Sure, I didnt enjoy modern day egypt, the poor quality of the flight and the stress of a busy schedule without time to relax and sleep, but oh boi, where the temples magnificent and the pyramids? you could see them from up to 3 or 4km while in the bus in our way to them
Happy this isn't labeled disney or we would not be able to comment on it.
And I love the way the song is written! The graceful beautiful words makes it even more attractive and fits the kind of character who is singing it.
i love this movie....it really makes you stop and think...
This aged well
Loved this movie as a kid and this specific song is forever in my memory. It just makes me cry. I don't really have a home. So i dream of my heavenly home...
this is my fave song.. the music is beautiful
Of all the cartoon movies about stories in the Bible, this is the most moving. And, after the thousandth time watching it, it still makes me tear up 😢
This entire film is a masterpiece and that’s that.
THIS SONG MAKES ME FEEL THINGS
This movie is my childhood.
I wish DreamWorks world do another story from the Bible they are really good at depicting what happened even the art is still amazing till this day. Definitely make the bible more interesting than reading so and so beget this son and her daughters and they beget 20 other random names. Than he smighted so and so. Yeah watching this it's hard to lose interest they really know how to get you to relate with the characters they put a face to it. And it allows you to see what happened instead of trying to make sense of it all. The bible is like reading something someone wrote on acid it's hard to even imagine or comprehend.
Partly due to the fact that it was originally written in hebrew. And translated a billion times over till it got where it is today.
@Olivija Strandjord Eh... it wasn't as good.
It clearly wasn't the A-film this was.
@Olivija Strandjord And that's perfectly fine. I just think the overall production was not as expensive.
It's not a one-to-one downgrade but it does feel a little more indie.
Yeah the Bible has some amazing stories that people should learn from (even if they don’t believe in the religion) but it’s a slog to read unless it’s a more modern translation. And then you risk having meanings change which unsurprisingly happens when a book has been translated so much from so many languages
Powerful song. This scene always did something to me.
I watched this movie for the first time when I was 7, I think. And I loved everything, and mostly this song. Since the first time I heard it, somehow I just felt something different and now that I'm 22, I can feel relate with almost every word, excetp the part of being the prince of Egypt haha.. this song represents to me like your world falling apart, when you discover that everything you believe it's not true.. but it's simply beautiful, the melody, the lyrics.. it's like I could feel since the first time this huge emotion that it's showed in this song, and I find myself in the same place. All I ever wanted is so,so far away from my reach, and all left is to feel emotions like this, even if it's sad,but at least, it's something. At least I can feel something yet.
I think I was like 10 when I first saw this I’m 21 now and I look at it the same way sort of. I kind of feel like I’m flying through time
When I went to London, I went to British Museum and saw all the stuff from Old Egypt and I remembered a lot this movie !
His voice so amazing 🎵🎶
Here in 2025 and 36 years old still think this is one of the best animated films

Every single mother fricken song in this movie is so amazing, I can't even describe the word. Especially the first song, you can feel the emotion and how they sing. Its just so amazing.
id really like to believe every part of this movie was real it frighting amazing . I would give anything to live a life like this. The song is so powerful it has so much meaning moses knows he is much more than a prince of eqypt.
i love that one of his last lines was “son of a proud history that’s shown etched on every wall” and then the next scene is the wall that documents their genocide (?) toward the hebrews.
These Dreamworks Films are so special, even if some see them as just Disney Copies, you can't deny this film was breathtaking.
Exactly and although I think dreamworks has lost it’s touch it had with making this movie a really good dreamworks movie released two years ago was abominable it had Rupert Gregoson-Williams in charge of the soundtrack just like he was for this movie and like 4 other dreamworks movies
I can just say as an adopted kid this experience is so real but not always this dramatic. feeling at home with what you’re familiar with (your adoptive family and home). Yet knowing there’s another place you come from that you don’t feel you truly belong to. Yet it’s still a part of you that you can’t deny. It’s a constant identity struggle
Whether you believe in the Biblical workings of Moses, he was a real person. When you look at Egypt's Middle Kingdom they actually have temples and statues dedicated to the Pharaoh Ramses. There's also so much history behind the person Moses, whether you happen to believe in the miracles he performed or his connection to God, this guy had a really interesting life. (If you're really interested, a great place to start is seeing some of the episodes the History Channel has had on him).
Mary-um looks just like her mum!!! XD there both so beautiful and amazing singers!! XD
If someone makes a live action remake of this film and it’s just as good as the 2D version, it would blow last five years of filmmaking out of the water.
I love how in all of these the mother figure is always so kind and always knows what to say. :D
This was my favorite song...
This songs sounds so emotional
Its great
Such a beautiful and empowering instrumentals makes me almost cry at how intense it is
every time i hear this i have to cry... so full of emotions
You know what I love about this scene?
Moses is having an existential crisis, and emotional breakdown, his world is shattered.
He looks so distressed throughout the whole song.
Except… here 1:20
