Hi Mick & Jeff, Thanks for the nice videos on rockhounding. My wife and I are in our 70's and because of health issues are unable to get out to digs in Washington State anymore. Watching your videos are so much fun as your knowledge of geological chemistry is truly inspiring. We are actually in the dirt and muck with you all the way waiting to see what you pull out of the ground next. Good video, and good advice on amphiboles. You really can't tell what it is unless you have composition data. They can accommodate so many different elements.
I'm happy to say that some of your area's fluor-richterite made it into my collection - all the way south to KY. Also, my Edenite from Wilberfarce, ON looks so much like your Essonville specimen - just a subtle change in mineralogy, I guess?
Really great videos for a french mineral's lover, but it would be better if you put some pictures of videos of all the pieces, cleaned ! Thank you for sharing your experiences ;)
We have been to Tory hill many times! Lots of appetite and titanite, there is another dig site on the other side of that ridge we found, I think most of what we found were asbestos crystal but there was some other stuff we never identified mixed in.
I recently started Rock Hounding, I was chronically ill for over a decade and the one thing that really provided me some comfort when Ill were my crystals. I live in Hanover and just became aware of the Bancroft area a couple of months ago. I went to the Sodalite Mine twice but have not really found anywhere that I can mine. Can you tell me where a good place to go is for beginners? And perhaps a tool or resource for identification of the crystals and minerals?
was there today on titanite hill, how far up the hill did you go? found some nice things mainly from digging. any tips? love your videos as always. showed my gf them and she's dying to know about your slight accent.
Heading up there again this weekend but going to check out this dump for bears as well. Never seen one in real life! What time were you there at?? They must close the gates at some time in the evening I'd think?

I was in the bear lake diggings one time, and someone took a pot shot at me, I heard the projectile zoom bye me, so I hi tailed out of the bush, too bad I never notified the OPP
It's killing me that you don't do "after" shots once they've been cleaned. But, you're so cute when you're all sweaty and muddy that I really don't care. ;-)

Is titanite actually titanium ? If so is it an arsenate or pure titanium? Your videos are awesome.
