I sometimes struggle with not feeling frugal because organic is much more expensive. My husband assures me it's fine. I hardly ever waste food and make everything from scratch. My 3 precious children are clothed well in second hand clothes, as well as myself to save money there. I have seen the effect on our health, but still... feel guilt over our grocery bill sometimes 😅.
I look at it like this… if we feel our bodies with toxic food and the processed food then we will pay for it in our health and medical bills aren’t cheap. And she’s right shop bulk and yes it’s a bit of investment up front but the food stretches out longer and it’s healthy.
@@JamieLC82you are so right! We have been so much more healthy since changing up the way we eat! That is worth so much! I do always shop around for the best prices and that really helps!
Mayo - I used the Vitamix for about 20 years ... speed "4" (I'm not sure how the new Vitamix machines are) and add the oil slowly. And then I tried an immersion blender ... I added all the ingredients, including the oil, together, blended stationary for about 30 seconds, and then blended while moving the stick around for an additional 30 seconds to one minute. Perfect. 1c oil 1 fresh, room temperature egg 2T acv (or whatever you prefer - some like fresh lemon juice) 1T ferment liquid (I prefer a dill pickle ferment) 1/2t mustard powder (or a little bit of prepared mustard) 1/2t salt (adjust to your preference) 1/8t paprika Leave on the counter all day or all night and then refrigerate. The ferment liquid keeps the mayo good for weeks instead of days.
There's an even easier way to make mayo. Put all the ingredients in the jar and then put the stick blender all the way into the jar and trap the egg yolk with the bottom of the stick blender. The holes in the blender let just the right amount of oil into it to emulisfy slowly. If you want to look it up its on Serious Eats "Two Minute Mayo" by Kenji Lopez-Alt. Mostly you're looking up the method and how much oil to use. Err on the side of too little oil if you're using homegrown eggs that may not be a standard size. You can always add more oil if you need to.
Lovey video Kelli. I love dictionaries too! Actually I love books in general but there is something very special about an old dictionary. Something very satisfying about watching you work about the kitchen and to listening to you speak. You are a special blessing. Thank you for sharing.
Yes! I'm trying to make a bunch and put them all up at once, they take quite a bit of time to make. I'll share on the channel when I'll be posting them. Thank you for your thoughtfulness and interest in them!
Thank you for this! I just opened my salt shaker and saw it was rusty! I was so disappointed and grossed out! I will be doing this with my salt for now on!

How long will the mayonnaise last?
@@lizgee6206 About two weeks in the refrigerator. Use your common sense though if it appears to have gone bad before that, don't use it.
@@lizgee6206 I gauge it by how long would those eggs have been in the fridge and lasted =)
Oh, goodness! $1.00
Fantastic 😊
I picked up a food sealer yesterday at a church thrift store for $3.50!!! 🎉
Soooooo exciting ☺️

That was a good deal on the ice cream maker. I always put the result into the freezer afterward to make it less like soft serve.
Such an inspiring video! ❤❤

Kelli, do you still sell your beautiful journals? If so, I’d love to support you!

Please share your book collection. It's so hard to find older dictionaries.
Put a teaspoon of rice in your salt shaker to keep it loose and dry.
