  • Stone, Ludwig, Moore, and Straight are the only NARD founders to publish books, and 4 of 4 include non-NARD rudiments in their books.
Buy my books, I have one with 825+ non-NARD rudiments: bloomdrums.com/...

After further review, Stone’s 3 Stroke Roll is definitely a Drag by another name, not exactly a Ruff. This will become clearer after my next video on Drags and Ruffs. Also, Roy Knapp taught Flam Taps in 6, which was the Flam Accent No. 2.

I believe the three stroke roll is nothing more than three taps, for each hand e phrased, in eighth note or 16th note or 32nd note triplets!
At least that’s how it was explained and tought to me
Which, of course, makes sense! Three t taps per hand would sound like a roll of sorts!😊

I am sure we can all agree that those dudes were NARDs.

Single stroke roll and double stroke roll. Every other rudiment is based on these two. Bahm!

That’s not entirely true. There are common rudiments with triple strokes and quad strokes in them. They’re sort of “hidden” because of flams, but they’re there. Your hands really have to do them. Also multiple bounce or buzz strokes. That’s at least 5 skills. Plus the 4 basic strokes that govern any type of accent pattern. So that’s 9 things right there.
