I love seeing which books stayed with people! I read a Dowry of Blood too but it wasn’t for me 😅 such a satisfying video Icy! Excited to see where your witchy era takes you in 2024! I am the same - intrigued by the concepts but also a bit sceptical 😅

Wow Erin 💛 thank you so much for watching my video! It really means a lot! I am excited to see the books you'll read and the spreads you'll be doing for the coming year! Have a safe and happy new year!

It's refreshing to see a non-pressure book journal not put into months. I only read 1-2 books a month, and this looks a lot 'cleaner' to use. I adore your Greek Mythology spread!

I try not to put too much pressure on myself to read more than I can 🙈 last time I did that, I did not enjoy reading lol. Thank you so much for taking the time to watch and I appreciate your comment! Hope you are having a relaxing reading month!

Love your 2023 collages! I think I'll take some inspo and do a gothic spread this year.
I use my journals for two purposes: as a creative outlet and as a record of my interests and life, less for "bullet journaling" everyday activities. I can't micromanage daily tasks long term. I look at journaling from a macro level. I have several journals, and I consider them all multi-year, so I have no idea when I will fill them up. To manage microlevel things like tasks and appointments, I carry a small A6 planner in my purse and have the daily reminders I need. But even my to-do lists are more on the monthly level than daily. Most are A5s.
I have a self-care journal for positivity that I use when I need a boost; lots of spreads on how to feel better, how to be healthy, and positive reinforcement. It has the fluffiest decoration: pastels, pinks and purples and orange, lots of cute stickers and washi, and kawaii and cartoonish animals.
My reading journal since 2016 is the list of books I read each year (bookshelfies) plus some "favorite" spreads of authors, series I have liked and completed, and books I like. I have a quite a few series trackers there as reminders. I leave the yearly challenges and book bingo type stuff out of it.
I have an autobiographical journal that is expressive of my past and present, with spreads on places I have lived and favorite movies and tv shows, etc. Photos of family, friends, and pets are there. A few concert tickets, music spreads, etc. This journal is more creative than most, with collages and me writing text on why I have included something.
There's a recipe journal with my favorite recipes. I use it for those frequently used recipes, and a few special holiday recipes. I don't put recipes I haven't tried. I admit I added some cut up Hello Fresh recipes I tried.
I have a gardening journal that I record what I do in the yard and garden of my home. I record what I plant and whether it makes it in our zone. It has some nature and floral stickers and washi, but isn't that art filled. It's more practical. It does have some wish lists as a dream rather than a goal. I have a sketchbook journal that is more swatches of ink and watercolor and pens, with some crappy doodles, practical and not really to be shared. There are a few experiments there that I can look back on, but I am by no means an artist.
I also have a Commonplace journal with quotes I like that are meaningful to me and also some poems. I just pick up whichever journal I feel in the mood for. (I have some others, but these three are the most used.

I love to see someone who’s interested in witchcraft, though not a believer themselves. Exploring different cultures and spiritual beliefs is always fun! Plus typically when someone doesn’t believe in witchcraft they’re very… rude about it. I avoid telling people I’m witchy because it turns into “oh you’re going to Hell” or “oh you’re dumb to believe in rocks like that”

    • @EyeSeaStudio
      @EyeSeaStudio  6 месяцев назад +1

I'm so sorry you experience things like that. I find the occult and witch craft fascinating even when I don't believe it. I feel like it is a very misunderstood belief, but knowing more about it than I used to, I think it's beautiful. I think all beliefs have their own unique ways and I think that should be respected 💛

@@EyeSeaStudio Some great contemporary Japanese novels are Convenience Store Woman by Sayaka Murata and Confessions by Kanae Minato. And literary fiction wise, from what I read in 2023 my favorites were "Swimmers" by Julie Otsuka and "Our Wives Under the Sea" by Julia Armfield. I recomend any work by these two authors wholeheartedly.

Omg I love the Lunar Chronicles! I have all the books, but I haven’t gotten far in the series. Maybe I’ll give it another shot. I stopped reading books halfway through the third book because my mental health got really bad. I’ve been reading more again and reading a series I’m familiar with would be perfect! Thank you so much!

I'm sorry to hear about your mental health but I'm glad that books help you through! I definitely recommend reading all the books in the Lunar Chronicles series. I love retellings and Marissa Meyer adds so much beauty to it all 💫 thank you so much for taking the time to watch and leave a thoughtful comment 💛

@@EyeSeaStudio thanks! I’m glad you liked my comments😊 I’m currently reading The Fourth Wing (because it’s an easy read) but when I’m done with that I’ll probably take on the Lunar Chronicles again! I absolutely love the way Cinder was written and it was so memorable! I wonder if I even need to re-read it (but I will)

I read both "stone blind" and "Gallant" and none of them was my cup of tea, it took me ages to get through them both. I'm also a mood reader so that could be the reason 😅.
If your still in your "witch-phase" may I recommend the "All souls" trilogy by Deborah Harkness. It's hands down my favorite books in a really long time and I think i have re-read them at least 5 times, if not more ^^.
