  • In this video, Jason cuts open three different rock types to reveal the gemstone quality of Jade and Sapphires as well as some free gold in quartz from his gold mine. These specimens and slabs are beautiful and capture nature at its best. Using his rock saw with a diamond blade he cuts these rocks into specimens and standups. All the specimens and pieces in this video are available for sale on the MBMMLLC eBay page! Check it out if you would like to own a piece of the adventure!

My suggestion: Don't cut along the side you suspect was next to the/one wall, cut perpendicular to it (and by that, perpendicular to the vein structure). That way you can see much better where in the vein the gold is - and you don't get that many totally barren slabs.

Oof, those quartz cuts remind me of the gravel my grandparents bought for their outdoor screened gazebo around 1970. I found hundreds of tiny samples there full of gold ore and visible grains of gold.
Back when gold was cheap, these huge quartz and calcite veins FULL of sulfides and bits of gold were just mined for crushed gravel. Gold at the time was a mere $35/oz or so. It was more profitable to sell the crushed rock than to extract the gold.
Might want to 'mine' under old patios! lol

If you've watched Dan's videos where he cut that nephrite, it takes a REALLY strong light to shine through it. It's not something you can put just a string of LED's behind it to light it up. Polishing it should help with the clarity because the scratches caused by the blade cloud it up really bad. That big quartz block would be great for someone to carve.

Have you ever seen or used a horizontal wheel for polishing those flat cuts. I once seen one in a metal machine shop. It had a 500 grit diamond wheel that used a stop plate to hold the work piece from rotating. The piece was polished under its own weight as it was held by the stop plate while the wheel rotated in its oil bath. For metal pieces it’s made a gloss that rivaled a mirror!

Quartz pillars but leave the natural fractured surface on the top. Smooth base to stand on, 4 sides cut, rough top. I bet those would sell for decorative conversation pieces.
Or bookends. Cut a smooth base, then 1 vertical cut through middle, leave top and outside edges rough. If that's too big could cut the book ends in half leaving smooth base, center, and 1 face with top, outside and last face rough.
