      tbf, it seems more like both Wenwu and Shangchi impose their views on how they think the Mother would feel towards them to each other. Wenwu mentions how he shouldn't have taken the rings off, aka shouldve been there to help her, Shangchi before this scene mentions how his mother would hate who he's become, and then later says the mother wouldn't want to be with Wenwu. Wenwu has shown to be pretty reasonable, so what he said likely was not his true feelings but his anger getting out of hand plus his sanity/vision tunneling.

    • @antoniomcneary
      @antoniomcneary 2 года назад +11

      I can see why Wenwu said he blames Shang letting his mother die although not entirely justified, I think the basic divide between the father and son is their innate response to conflict the former being fight while the other is freeze; roles reversed Wenwu would have called for help, grab a gun and shoot the best he could and die with the mother while Shang would have grieved and retreated into depression.

Specifically, Game of Throne Oberyn Martell vs the Mountain and they made note of it in behind the scene stuff. Spears, staffs and sabers are several weapons in Chinese martial (and other Asian culture) that rely on constant spinning, to general flow and momentum. While spear and staff attack differently, both are very focus on using spins to direct their 'ends'.

      Thanos won't be affected by those rings. He's way too durable. The rings can kill

    What this movie has done so well, in my opinion, is having the character's words to be the final blow in their fight sequences. Let me use certain scenes from different movies (including this one) to make this clear...
    Many of the action sequences, especially in Hollywood, tend to have their characters say their cold line before delivering their attacks or their final blow (depending on the sequence), which is also known as a one-liner BEFORE the finisher. A good example of this is the "This is Sparta!" from 2006 film, 300. That line itself will always be phenomenal to many viewers and it still is up to this date. But in certain viewpoints or story scenarios, having characters to deliver their one-liner before the kill, or at least, a heavy attack, can be a bit lacking in leaving an impact both to the drama and to the audience. Especially if the character fails to deliver his/her blow or kill to his/her enemy after the line (e.g. getting shot from the back without any anticipation of it), which kind of hurts the delivery of the line itself and makes the whole thing even awkward. It loses its sense of epic-ness, if you may.
    Shang Chi, on the other hand, follows a "one-liner AFTER the finisher" rule. Take the 0:34 of the video as an example. Wenwu performs an epic move by leaving a mark on Shang Chi with his spinning downward kick. I myself, as a viewer, would say, "Well that was a cold hit from him." But then it doesn't stop there. Wenwu, this time, would then proceed to say his line as a way to hurt Shang Chi's emotions. He says, "You stood out the window and watched her die!" Not only does this imply how desperate Shang Chi is unable to defend himself from the enraged Wenwu, but also how Shang Chi, as a young boy back then, was also not able to protect his own mother. And as a result, I, as a viewer, would say, "Nevermind! What he said right there was more hurtful than his kick from earlier." The scene then continues with Shang Chi, as he loses it and makes his way towards Wenwu to deliver another strike, thus, the intensity of the fight escalates. The same idea was also executed in 1:41 - 2:00. Wenwu was hurt physically, but then his vulnerability sheds even more when Shang Chi says, "Even if you could bring her back, what makes you think she'd want anything to do with you?" Consequently, this enrages Wenwu once more, then delivers a much more brutal finisher to Shang Chi compared to the one that Wenwu has performed earlier.
    Characters, especially human characters, are much more vulnerable, in terms of their emotions, than in terms of their physique. I personally think that painful words leave something much more worse than physical scars. Knives can leave cuts or even scars but words can do the same thing and the pain, sometimes, remains in the heart and it never goes away. Which is why some movies follow the "one-liner BEFORE the finisher" rule. But the use of the "one-liner AFTER the finisher" rule also results with a progressive intensity with regards to its storytelling. By having a physically damaged character be insulted by their opponent is what "adding insult to injury" literally means. The character's injury worsens, when they get hit in the feels by their opponent, making the injured character's situation even worse afterwards.
    And that is what I meant by having the character's words be the final blow/kill against their opponent. Although I'm not saying that "one-liner AFTER the finisher" is better "one-liner BEFORE the finisher". I personally think that both rules are epic and can be applied in every fight sequences you make. It all depends on the scenario and how well you incorporate them in your scenes.

    Loved the movie but didnt like how they used the rings, they completely changed the nature of the rings amd converted them into bangles that a person wears into their arms, but the rings were actually like a normal ring (worn in fingers) in the comics and they hold immense powers, like the infinity stones, each ring has different powers, one grants you super strength, the other super speed, the other teleport and open portals and like that all 10 rings have their own unique powers, i actually prefer the rings over the infinity gaunlet but they kind of completely changed the concept of the rings which is sad :")

    Man where TF is Shang Chi 2!? Almost forgot how great this fight is. The choreography is good, the cinematography really showcases it, the actors both give such an authenticity to the stakes and emotions of the battle and the editing ties everything together. Whenever they do make a sequel which is hopefully sooner than later Tony Leungs presence is gonna be hard to fill because of how much drama and gravitas he brought to Wenwu. But the potential for Shang Chi is seriously infinite. I know it would be a huge bit of fan service but I’d love to see the character face off against Danny Rand or just see contemporary martial arts acting stars like Donnie Yen, Micheal Jai White or Jet Li featured in it. It’s too bad Scott Adkins played a names npc in Dr Strange. I’ll bet they could cast him again too though, it’s not unprecedented.
