    It may seem a bit weird but it felt to me that this was a sequel to Kong: Skull Island rather than a Godzilla sequel. About the only complaint I have about this film is Mechagodzilla; when it showed up, I got 'Transformers' vibes rather than 'Pacific Rim', which is not a good association for me. Otherwise, this film was pure Showa-era wackiness with some of its plot points seemingly ripped right out of those movies. Oh, and whoever built those buildings in Hong Kong needs a raise as they were solid as rocks!

    Kong wasn't the hero. Both Kong and Godzilla were the heroes, if it weren't for Godzilla tanking Mecha G Kong also would have gotten wrecked. In fact, during the team-up scene(s) against Mecha G, Godzilla saves Kong from a few fatal close encounters. Thus, don't act Kong single-handedly defeated Mecha G. That's the big lie spread by salty Kong fans.

    I love the 2014 film because of the ambiguity and how scary it sometimes is when Godzilla shows up, king of the monsters is so weird, to me even the visual effects don't feel unique and precious, mostly because of so much cutting to the humans. Despite the humans being shown during the fights, which was irritating, I thought "Godzilla: King of the Monsters" was still one of the greatest movies ever. As far as Kong winning in the 60's movie.....no. Godzilla was clearly way ahead on points. They fall in the water, there's a rock slide which buries Godzilla. So Kong says "Oh good, my chance to swim the heck outta here before Godzilla gets loose because I just took an ass beating from the King!" So yes, Godzilla whipped Kong in both movies, rather easily. 😉💪

  • @hanziggy6862
    @hanziggy6862 3 года назад +1

    According to the director, he has enough footage for a 5-hour cut and people who even shot scenes were not even in the movie at all. Lots were cut out of the movie, but the director said he was happy with the final product and knows most people do not care about the humans. I would have liked to have gotten a 2-2.5 hour movie at least. I loved it, but thought it did feel like it had many deleted scenes. I think what was cut out would've probably fleshed out the story more. The creator of Mechagodzilla apparently shot more scenes for the movie. I really cannot wait to read the movie novelization now. LOL...I have a feeling once the novel comes out, many people may get upset at what was taken out of the movie. Overall, though, it was still a fun movie. My main problem, honestly, with Godzilla: King of the Monsters, even though I still really enjoyed it, was a lot of it was literally too dark. I liked the monster fights, but everything looked way too dark and the fights would've been more enjoyable if there was just more background lighting. I did also think the pacing of the last movie was too slow in the first half. But, for me, just fixing the lighting itself would have made things more enjoyable for me.

  • @TheJva29

    I got so many issues with this movie plot wise. The fights were AMAZING tho. Still, i feel like Godzilla vs. Kong needed maybe one more movie for build up for it to actually happen. They could've done a whole Kong movie focusing on the Hollow Earth and retaking his place as the Alpha species of the hollow earth while giving us some more background is this "ancient" war between Kong and Godzilla species.

    Oguri Shun's role here as Ren Serizawa was absolutely wasted and I'm 100% sure his scenes got cut. His father lived his life wanting humans to co-exist with titans and now his son is in APEX and wants humanity to be the apex predator, the alpha. The complete opposite and I'm definitely sure they did a lot with his character, I'm adamant that his scenes must've gotten cut and they wanted to keep this under 2 hours. He didn't move to the US to learn English just to say 4-5 lines and be done with it, his character here just so happens to be the son of Serizawa. We wouldn't be complaining if he was just another japanese character who has no relation to Serizawa.
    And quite a waste casting Oguri Shun considering he's a big megastar in Japan and this is how they did his character. And Adam Wingard revealed there were a lot of scenes that were cut.

Have to say tho, i'm kinda sad you guys didn't like KotM that much, i get why but the moments that are great in this movie are so insanely great that i always forget the bad parts. Also the music in KotM was like 1000x better than in GvK. I get it, you guys like Junkie XL and all but lets be real the music was generic as hell in GvK. It still has the best fight scenes in from all legendary films tho! Let's just hope we get more of this, also did you guys watch Singular Point? Would like to hear your thougths on it.

    I’m surprised you didn’t mention the little homage to Gamera- Kong’s connection to Jia, the little girl. Gamera always seemed to have a special bond with kids. As far as Toho taking back the rights- are they not making money off of the Monsterverse movies? I’m sure their deal gives them a cut of the profits. Even if the last Godzilla movie didn’t do too well, I’m pretty sure overall the movies have been a success. And Godzilla vs Kong is definitely saving the box office day! Now I want to see Godzilla vs Kong vs Giant Robot vs the Gargantuas vs... Gamera! C’mon, studios! Make it happen!

    Yeah the views from the monsters were great unlike the previous movies. Yes no more panning from humans to monsters. Staying with the monster's fighting.

    All these movie needed at the end, as the ultimate cliffhanger, was Kong and Godzilla having a momentary look of respect at one another and then they are distracted and startled by a spinning object of fire coming from the heavens ... and leave it there. I keep hoping for that Gamera inclusion but I doubt it will ever happen. But I can dream.

    I'm withou you Lady! You nailed it perfect with "2-star-plot, 5-star battle". Basically translates to the last 20 minutes being the best part vs the entire movie!

    This is an interesting thing that I didn’t consider until seeing this but I think it’s implied that Godzilla is so powerful and basically naturally born to be the king because his atomic breath is the energy in the hollow earth in its purest form. The energy is blue and the marks on the floor make a Godzilla shape in the ground. So his energy charges up the dorsal plate (which in itself is a reference to GMK Goji where Godzilla absorbes Ghidorah’s beams through his plates) but it also is the energy that allows him to dominate over other titans. I would love to see in the comics or a prequel series on how that monument and the energy in the hollow earth mutated the titans. Because it seems like there was a time of peace between Godzilla and Kong’s species in order to make that monument. I would love to see a society of titans because we know they’re hyper intelligent.

    Kong pulled a Roger Murtaugh from lethal weapon after the aircraft carrier fight saying "I'm too old for this sh**t". Enjoyed this movie alot and as an added little bonus, I did not watch any footage until the film came out which made that more enjoyable for me

    Now, if they can get a good plot AND keep the monster battles as awesome as these were...!! I've actually stated that if this movie also included goofy Planet-X Aliens in it, it might've actually HELPED the plot more by lowering our suspension of disbelief dramatically! :P

      I said the same thing after seeing it in the theater! I think because CGI is so "real" nowadays people are getting a bit confused on what they want or need from kaiju flicks, including the people making them. We also have to remember that for the most part these movies have always been marketed to kids - it can't get too intense or it gets slapped with an R rating

    I liked the movie but the sheer lack of Godzilla really let me down. This felt more like a Kong movie more than anything for me. I'm glad Godzilla did his thing but I wished he got more screen time. And I wished he had some sort of offense towards MechaGodzilla, all he did was get his butt handed to him
